Batman/Bruce Wayne Casting Thread - Part 3

There was a report about that (and a bunch of other DCEU stuff) on CBM yesterday. No idea if any of it is true.

What if it comes down to picking one between Reeves and Affleck? lol

Reeves: "Hamada, if you want Ben, you'll have to kill me (contract) first"

All I can say is that I'm over here excited to the thought of Ben Affleck continuing on as Batman! Ben has been great with what he's been given so far in my opinion. I never wanted to see him leave the role.

As long as they get Ben to sign a new multi picture contract for the DCEU films. I want him to stay. If he only wants to do one or two pictures, then I'll painfully support a recast with someone willing to do multi films.
Who else would I personally like to see as Batman if that were to happen? I don't know. Jake Gyllenhaal is one of the very few I've seen mentioned that I would like. I know we cant all be happy. But I do love me some Ben Affleck Batman.

If Morena Baccarin gets Catwoman, I think Tom Ellis or Luke Evans maybe could work.

I can't say that I'm nearly as enthusiastic as you, but I agree that I'd prefer to see Affleck return in the role than leave. I still think his performance in BvS was a good one, and he showed a lot of promise as Batman. His performance in JL was a bit shoddier, though I don't think it was nearly as wooden or "phoned-in"as many make it out to be. If he manages to star as Batman in movie that is actually good, I think things would only pick up in terms of his take on the character.

When you think about it, Affleck is the only live action actor to objectively play both Bruce Wayne and Batman great.

Adam West was a great Batman/Wayne back when he was a comedic character but not a lot of people want that particular portrayal in a post-TDKR world.

Keaton was the closest as he got the Batman part down but his Wayne was a bit subdue to my liking (admittedly, not his fault and he still played it well).

Kilmer tried hard but Forever didn’t do him justice, since he wanted a darker Batman while the film forced a lighter tone on him.

Bale got Wayne right but I didn’t like his Batman, because he lacked intimidation and his voice was ridiculous and will never stop being funny to me.

Affleck got the intimidation, voice, brutality, sadness, self-loathing, and anger that Batman should be and he got the playboy charms and inner darkness Wayne is supposed to have. I’d be disappointed if he left before being in a good Batman movie worthy of his interpretation. He’s one of the best superhero castings of all time and I genuinely think that.

Bale's Batman voice never bothered me until others started pointing it out. Though, I still think his Begins voice is just fine.

Psh, repent. B&R's better than Rises & the Affleck flicks. :)

As much as I like Batfleck, he had plenty of help which didn't have anything to do with his presence. The voice was modulated to hell, the suit was off a mold of a huge bodybuilder, the fight scenes were entirely done by a stuntman.

The confrontation with Supes is really the only time he got to show off under the cowl, which was admittedly very good imo. But it's still tough to consider those above points in the overall movie.

I kept expecting Affleck to put his legs up on the batcomputer desktop.

LOL. Ben's Bruce Wayne is so corny, clumsy and his Batman is so damn sensitive like a teenage girl.

I don't really get why people said that Bale's Batman is bad. His Batman is not impressive and faithful to comic by the look and fight scenes but the writing is just so damn good that I don't really care if it's faithful to comic or not. And Bale's Bruce Wayne is absolutely perfect.

Sorry Ben, you're a talented director and writer but Bale smashes the hell outta you when it comes to acting

Bale's biggest issue was that he simply wasn't given very strong material to work with when he was in the suit. That's just the truth of it. Pretty much everybody around him was given meatier scenes and more meaningful dialogue, and for the most part he either just sat there and reacted or he growled out one-liners. And when he was actually given meaningful dialogue, it was completely undercut by that stupid voice.

The script ultimately let him down, but the voice didn't help matters much. That's Bale's Batman in a nutshell.

I don't know what else to say to that other than I disagree completely. As to him not speaking very much, is that not a big trait of the character? The stoicism. Bale gives a very internal performance in and out of the suit. Just because he isn't speaking, and because you can't read his physical expression in the suit, doesn't mean there's not a lot going on underneath that.

Yeah I'm afraid we'll just have to agree to disagree and shake on it. Enjoyed him very much as Bruce Wayne overall, and I liked his Batman in Batman Begins. Could barely stand him in TDK and TDKR, though.

Yeah, I agree.

So in that new spread by the Trades, Deadline said Ben Affleck is unlikely to return and that the Batman will be a reboot
