Batman & Robin

Batman has had alot more sci fi and horror elelments than people seem to remember, or care to acknowledge. It seems to me that the whole movement to abolish this started back in 2005.

Yes, Nolan fanboys and their urge to have a "realistic Batman" :csad:

Thats why I say an Arkyum Asylum movie would be a great Batman horror/science fiction film. And I hate by the way realistic Batman limits him and his surroundings.

I kid... I can actually sit down and watch Batman & Robin for it's production design, Michael Gough etc.

cept for the parts in bold, i agree.

Although you may not have liked the design of the movies production design and costumes... you cannot fault the execution.

The movie looked slick and sharp... The behind the scenes crew got the MOST of out the budget.

60s show was terrible. B&R was funny. Good comedy.

The only laughable parts were funny for all the wrong reasons. The intended comedy were all the Freeze and Ivy one-liners which couldn't be any worse.

It did not destroy Batman as they was gonna make a 5th film and they made 2 great films afterwards.

ARE YOU SERIOUS? :wow::wow::wow::wow::wow::wow::wow::wow::wow:

Batman & Robin
was released on June 20, 1997, and was critically panned. It Also received numerous nominations at the Razzie Awards,http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_Raspberry_Award and frequently appears on lists of the worst superhero films of all time. yes, the film was a modest success, but DEFINITELY not on the level WB had hoped for.Nevertheless, when Batman & Robin received negative reviews and failed to outgross any of its predecessors, Warner Bros. was unsure of their plans for Batman Triumphant. The studio decided it was best to consider a live-action Batman Beyond, the series went on an eight year hiatus. and if you think that B&R truly showcased what batman and his legacy leads on...then you are no batfan.

Fresh Prince, venom is right, it was a nightmare of a film that undid the work of Batman & Batman Returns. This movie was purely a marketing excuse to make money off of anything ranging from Taco Bell to credit cards. It was sad day in June of 97', as the words "Hi Freeze, I'm Batman." rolled off the smug face of George Clooney.

and yet every one of you flocked to see it and loved it because you were all kids enthralled by the awesome spectacle that was Batman and Robin.:o

actually, tbh, till begins i never saw a {live-action} batfilm in theaters (i was 6, gimme a break! :hehe::hehe:). and hated it when i saw it at first. now, schumaker isnt 100% to blame (yes, WB had input on this too) but schumaker has redeemed himself, with the awesomeness that was the number 23.

When the man makes a movie like Falling Down he never needs to redeem himself. He earns a get-out-a-jail free card.

Batman & Robin temporarily, ruined the reputation of big budget, live-action comic book movies. It wasn't until X-Men came out three years later and subsequently, Spider-Man, that comic book movies became in vogue again.

Its been 12 years since the infamous Batman & Robin movie came out. Its famous for all the wrong reasons. Described as the worst super hero movie of all time. Well until the likes of Hancock and The Spirit came out. Also the movie that destroyed the Batman franchise directed by the infamous Joel Schumaker. What people do not realize is Batman & Robin was based off the silver age Batman. You know the light toned Batman.

Now i'm defending this movie. It was the 12 best movie of 1997 and their was a good amount of movies to come out in 1997. Also it did good at the box office. But see looking at the movie. Over and over again i think it was decent. Now hear me out. It was based off the silver age Batman even Warner Bros said this. So of course the characters were gonna be light toned. And people say the movie was campy was not complete campy. Alfred getting sick and dying was not something funny. Bruce still in pain about his parents death was not funny. The family between Bruce, Dick and Alfred breaking up cause of argument and illness was not funny. Now i know somethings were stupid like most of the jokes but Gotham City looked Gotham to me. The gargoyles, furutistic style look and come on Schumaker Gotham better then Nolans which just looks like Chicago.

But anyways and i know this is long bear with me here but it was a decent movie. 12th best of 1997. So it was one of the best in 1997. It made good money at the box office so it did good at the box office. Made alot of money actually. So was not a bad movie. Spirit was terrible that movie bobmed at the box office. Batman & Robin did not bomb at the box office. Hancock failed at the box office Batman & Robin did not. Superman 3 and 4 failed at the box office and people say that movie was better then Batman & Robin. And like i said Batman & Robin did better then all them movies at the box office. Also it was the 3rd highest opening movie of 1997. So it was decent in my eyes and i know friends who liked the movie thought it was okay for what it was.

P.S. 1960s television show was golden! Another thing this movie was based off of. Now please i'm not crazy or insane in my opinion think this is a decent flick. For what it was. A silver age Batman people. This was not the Miller era Batman or Bob Kane era Batman.

I don't think that the poor response of B&R should entirely be on Joel Schumacher. Yes, he was the director, but he didn't write the script (Akivia Goldsmith was pretty much responsible for all of those cheesy puns and one-liners). It was also Warner Bros. who pushed hard to make the movie as toyetic and kid friendly as possible (especially after Batman Forever proved to be a bigger hit than the decidingly darker Batman Returns). So in a way, the destruction of the original Batman movie franchise is also one Tim Burton's hands, when you really think about it. Burton laid the groundwork for the more campy material (e.g. the Penguin's army of missile strapped little penguins) that was found in the Schumacher movies.

The concept of nuclear man was fine...it was the execution that went wrong.

For one thing, Nuclear Man didn't look scary enough. Mark Pillow, the actor who portrayed Nuclear Man looked more like a Chippendales dancer than Superman's greatest physical opponent.
