BvS Batman V Superman Box Office Prediction - Part 1

I dont know. I like both companies but I lean toward DC, i'll admit that.
It's just hard for me to imagine in any universe where CA:CW beats BvS. I like cap and all but this is two of the most iconic superheroes ever on the big screen together for the very first time ever. That alone will bring butts to the seats.

I mean sure, BvS could suck and lose to CW, but if its good as we all hope it is, I dont think so. At the least I could see them doing similar numbers.

I agree with the fact that, in theory, BvS is the bigger film. But taking into consideration how huge Avengers was, the massive BO AOU is likely to pull in and how well-received TWS was, I feel CW might edge BvS financially.

As fans though, I don't think we should take the BO that seriously, and just hope for a really good film.

Well said m8!

I guess we shall see then. :)
I hope they both do well.

btw anyone know what furious 7 would have made opening weekend with the help of 3D and IMAX 3D?

BvS would have to be a straight up bad film to not make at least a billion. That being said, it doesn't matter if it "beats" CW in the box office. I hope it does, though, if not just to diminish some of the DC hate.

I hope all those that are sure CW will make more money than BvS have taken into account that the former has X men apocalypse and alice in wonderland to contend with as competition as compared to BvS which basically riding solo for almost six weeks.

If BvS is at the same level as MOS in terms of reception, I would see it making around 775 million worldwide. 900 million to a billion if it is considered a decent improvement on MOS and is getting the same type of recognition that Marvel (whether some of you feel overrated or not) had with Avengers.

Taking from recent examples, I think Furious 7 makes more of a case for CW than for BVS. The fresh memories of a good previous film(s) of the same series/brand, that could weigh more than recognizability or the iconic/classic value of characters. If Avengers 2 has as much of an impact as the first one did, that would poise Civil War for an "umph" effect that BVS just doesn't have at this point.

I don't care if CW makes more money. I just want BvS and Suicide Squad to make enough to get the other DCU films rolling.

That's all that ever mattered. The only competition is with itself, its own budget and own expectations.

On comingsoon.net Batman v Superman has been the most 'previewed' movie on their site for a whole year now. Age of Ultron comes out in 3 weeks and it cant even knock Batman v Superman off the top spot.

The hype for the movie is insane, only Star Wars Episode VII exceeds it.

The thing is though I think Batman v Superman has a chance to be a much better movie then Civil War. Batman vs Superman to me is a much more compelling fight then Iron Man vs Captain America.

Theres no way this doesnt go over 1B

Film will open to over $180 million and you can take that to the bank.

Let us not make this another BvS v CW thread.

We should be discussing the other films opening around this.

IMO, if the last two tformers sequels can do a bil, then there is no reason BvS won't at least hit that regardless of how good it is

If Furious 7 is going to make a billion (and it looks like it will), then BvS sure as hell will too.

Furious 7 has hit $400 million in 4 days. Can you even fathom what BvS does in 10?

We're only talking potential, though. Probability at best. All that's great and all, but it's far from a surefire thing.

It kinda sorta reminds me of the situation we had a few years back when Superman Returns was going up against POTC2. That was another sequel coming off a very, very hot property. But comic book fans were damn certain the "return of Superman to cinema" was enough to trump any new brand. We all know what happened there.

Worst case scenario of course, but definitely a lesson which should be learned.

Keep in mind that Furious 7 got a boost from the unfortunate death of PW as well :(

Batman should boost this up to 800 and then we go from there.

But panic away.

I think BvS has a shot at a better gross for a few reasons but primarily due to the date. A wide open april can work wonders. Though I'm not sure what that May will look like. One thing Marvel seemingly always get's right is lucking into week competition. I just took a good hard look at the stuff competing with avengers this season...
It seemingly always happens. Giving ASM2 last may was a stroke of genius.

If by some circumstance Civil War doesn't hit a billion, I imagine the mcu can play the underdog card they used to. I mean it's not like it's avengers.

Duncan Jones has that Warcraft flick around the same time. Nevah count out folks who love magic and stuff. Lawd.

Opening scene is Wonder Woman Cutting off a Green Troll's head, whilst riding a Greek dragon.

Magic the gathering fans secured.

I'd be interested in Warcraft if it had high production values. Haven't really been following its progress.
