The Sweden date is old and not real.

I think a lot of people are low balling the OW. For Pete's sake, its Batman & Superman onscreen for the FIRST TIME EVER! Let that sink in for a minute.

We know superman can pull in 116 alone
And batman can do 160 alone
Don't know why most think 190+isn't possible when it's actually where this movie is headed
This will be a domestic monster with an opening weekend of 190+ and no competition for weeks 600 domestic is the floor

No one wants to be disappointed by high expectations. I am personally just hoping for the Easter record and March OW record.

Am I the only one who felt that the screenplay/script/Goyer wasn't a problem for MOS but rather direction was? I mean,Batman Begins had a similar script and Nolan made it into a success

Majority of the critics blamed too much action/destruction as a negative point and I remember how Snyder had the budget increased mid production because he wanted longer and more elaborate action sequences. For me majority of the blame goes to Snyder

Nah, it was the script. Too many exposition filled and motivational speeches, not enough quiet real moments, and too disregard for collateral damage.

And the main issue is that it was written and styled like a Nolan film, and Snyder (clearly) wasn't allowed to fully make it his own.

In other words, Snyder was given a Nolan type story/script (though without Nolan's writing to polish Goyer's work; THE fatal flaw), and apply flashy, VFX based action to it (something Nolan isn't known for and didn't feature much in the TDKT).

It's what everyone expected, but it didn't work. And you can tell he was given much more freedom with BvS than MOS, given how stylistically similar BvS is to his pre-MOS films, whereas MOS was very removed from those efforts.

It's one thing to keep low expectations, but there are many factors that need to be considered. People claiming the film can't at the very least break the March, and by extension the Spring record are deluding themselves.

First big blockbuster to be released following StarWars
A film decades in the making
Spring proving to be more and more beneficial a release window
WB are great at marketing their tentpoles, and this will be their biggest yet
TDK and TDKR, which both had openings in excess of 150m+ without 3D and lower ticket prices. Things this film won't have to deal with

I see at minimum this film's opening to be 160m. And breaking records is certainly in the realm of possibilities, unlike some who claim that it cannot. The same people who claim StarWars will despite more against that film to break the opening record.

If BvS can strike a cord with the general audience beyond just it's premise, it can reach great heights.

I'm sorry. I see this thrown around alot, but only fans are drawn in by that. It'll have to look good for the general audience (meaning, good action and dialogue mainly), but they arent jumping up and down over that aspect that you mentioned.

After watching MOS people know what Superman is capable. If they want this movie to succeed they need to sell Batman as a worthy foe.

Christian Bale's Batman grossed $160 M. Reboot Man isn't necessarily going to maintain the entire audience.

The media coverage of every teeny tiny morsel of info would beg to differ. The GA may not be having a fangasm about it, but it definitely has their attention.

Even the hardest core of Nolanites will go see this movie if only to compare.

Most people didn't even know this was being made until the teaser was released. Many still don't.

Those same people don't know that a new Star Wars is coming out. Those people are why the last couple months of marketing leading up to a movie are so important.

LoL. You must be trolling. Most people knew this movie was being made the moment they cast ben affleck as batman. That **** legit broke the internet. Heck, i found out about it from my Mum who is not even remotely interested in CBMs and barely uses the internet.

Nope.
Even people who know ben is batman don't necessarily know that it's a batman/superman movie.

I have friends who didn't know this was coming out until the teaser. And these are young people. I can guarantee a lot of the 30+ demographic doesn't know about this yet

Note that Juha Bach said most people as opposed to everyone. Just because there are a hand full of people who don't know doesn't mean that it's not most people.

There are plenty of people who aren't regularly on the internet, who have no idea about this movie or that Ben Affleck has been cast.

except i don't even think most people know about it.

If you ask random people on the street if they knew about this movie, you'd probably find as many nos as yeses.

This movie isn't a big deal yet. To the general public

The movie is 8 1/2 months away. I don't think some of you realize how feverish the pitch will be the closer we get to this thing. This is a popular culture event. It will get free advertisement from that alone in addition to WB's marketing machine. Noone, and I mean NOONE, will be able to escape it's exposure as the months wind closer and closer to it's release.

I just hope too much isn't revealed through the marketing.

Dude it don't matter it's batman
Either way you slice it
This will be huge
Fans will be curious to see what bat fleck will bring to the table
Alone with being the biggest movie release after starwars
Which the trailers will be playing along side of.
Sometimes I think people are scared of this movie and lie to themselves about how big bvs truly is
People have been wanting these two on screen together for a very long time. just curiosity from movie goers will break the bank

I can guarantee that this film will make at least $15.00 domestic.

Because only forum dwellers like us know about these movies a year in advance

Most of my friends didn't even know JW was coming out until like the week before release

One can only imagine it had Last April/August. Another 15 mill or so would have been within reach at worst imo.

Back in 2012, I was rooting for WB to swap the release dates of MOS and Jack the Giant Slayer... which sadly didn't happen. MOS would've crushed it in March ($120M+ weekend at least), considering its competition would've been Oz: The Great & Powerful and The Croods. Much more favorable than being pitted against DM2, Monsters University and World War Z.
