I'll take it you didn't read the next paragraph of what I posted.

Missed the little icon by one button.

Or, as Agent 86 used to say "Missed it by THAT much".

Well, did the general audience thought like that when Bond's Quantum of Solace turned out to be an underwhelming movie ? No, the next Bond movie - Skyfall turned out to be the most successful movie ever.

Similarly, Iron Man 2 was not as well received as the first Iron Man movie, it did not get the same critical acclaim as the first one, but the next Iron Man movie, IM3 turned out to be the most successful IM movie.

Also, it's worth noting that despite the mixed and lukewarm reception of Superman Returns, Man Of Steel did well.

And lastly, Batman Begins was not exactly a huge block buster as it did not earn much still, we all know how much successful TDK was, so.

And all three of those movies that were met with both critical disapproval AND lower than expected box office results have one major thing in common: their directors were replaced. And that was a big, big, big part of the marketing for their sequels.

Unlike BvS, both QOS and IM2 scored fresh on the Tomato-meter. And their follow-ups were bolstered by the two "A"s - Adele and the Avengers.

Also, it's worth noting that despite the mixed and lukewarm reception of Superman Returns, Man Of Steel did well.

I would attribute the modest BO success of MOS, which also received a mixed and lukewarm reception, to an extremely impressive marketing campaign. Which, as with BvS, carried the film through its first weekend.

And lastly, Batman Begins was not exactly a huge block buster as it did not earn much still, we all know how much successful TDK was, so.

Batman Begins set the table beautifully for TDK. And the reason BB was not exactly a huge blockbuster was due to the utter failure of B&R. Justice League does not have THAT much baggage, but it's not in a great position considering the BO expectations for that film are far higher than they were for Nolan's first Batman film.

All true....though from a movie perspective, I don't think it helped IM3 or Superman (MoS) much.

Sure it does. Look at the marketing of all these movies. "From the writer/director of..." Is a big deal to audiences

Yeah, which is why WB will change something when it comes to the films which aren't already in the can. Studios aren't as stubborn as fanboys are. If they felt the last film didn't do as well as they hoped, or get the reception they wanted, they do course correct in some fashion. We've seen it several times with the Bond, Batman, Spiderman, and Superman just to name a few franchises.

Yep. "From Zack Snyder the director of Batman v Superman" is way more toxic now than ever before. And no well cut JL trailer will assuage that

Assuming WB does nothing drastic or delay JL or anything like some rumors were saying, I think we can all agree they won't sell this as a Zack Snyder film, even if he makes it. They will sell it other ways.

I sure as **** hope so. Maybe they'll pull a TMNT and tout a big name exec producer? Pretty sure a lot of people still think Michael Bay directed that movie. Same with Nolan for MOS.

'From the creator of Oscar nominated Mad Max: Fury Road' sounds about right.

"From George Miller, the director of Mad Max Fury Road"

I don't even think that is necessary. To sell Justice League, WB will likely go the Avengers route and sell it that way. It makes way more sense to try that then to attach a name to it. But isn't George Miller a Producer now? They can just use his name if you REALLY feel the need.

"From Tim Miller, the Director of Deadpool - and that amazing DC Universe Online trailer".

When I said from a movie perspective, I meant I didn't see much of an improvement (if any) in the quality of the next movie. Just my opinion. IM2 wasn't my favorite, but I loved Sam Rockwell.

Oh yeah none of that has to do with wuality it's all about public perception. Changing a director before a sequel to a polarizing/underperforming movie is damage control 101. Makes the studio look good

One of the other box office guys over at BOT(nilephelan) is saying $4.15 million for Tuesday.

30% bump from Monday

To compare F7 went up 20% to 4.3 it's Tuesday.

Is this thing starting to finally balance its days out?

F7 Weds $2.9 million -33%

...hmmm.

BvS at perhaps the same -33% drop for a Weds of 2.8

$4.09mil for Tuesday in the end.

It's going to struggle to hit 900M...

$850mil seems the high end atm. Domestic around 340 international around 510. Best guess from me at any rate.

This may have stabilized, we'll no more by the weekend, but I suspect another >50% drop coming when Jungle book comes out.
