…in your most private moments…I want you to remember…my hand…at your throat…I want…you to remember…the one woman who beat you.

Next week:

"Warner Bros. Pictures is proud to announce Melissa McCarthy has joined the cast of Justice League as Granny Goodness"

If ya can't beat it

OT: I know you're joking but you know I actually wouldnt mind that. I'd prefer Kathy Bates or Jacki Weaver but I think that would be a really interesting move for McCarthy

Is this the hardest a movie has crashed and burned at the box office, seems amazing that a movie could make 400+ million opening weekend and struggle to 850 to 900 million....

WB was well aware that if they did not front load this thing, it would have struggled to make 700 million. They saved it from being a total embarrassment.

Today #BvS cracks $750M global & will pass #XMen DOFP & #Deadpool. Will surpass #GuardiansOfTheGalaxy on SUN.

Amazing part is if Deadpool was released in China, it would have beaten BvS WW totals....

Age of Ultron Worldwide: $1,405,413,868

Batman v Superman currently Worldwide:
$742,795,542

Just a bit of a ways to go for those that thought BvS was the movie to chase the competition. ;)

My, my it's astonishing to see the hate some have on here for this movie, Snyder, WB...

But we all know most (if not certainly all) will still pay $ to see Justice League when and if it does indeed go as planned with Snyder at the helm.

This is accurate.

This is accurate.

Not so sure anyone, BvS used up their freebie with the GA, you know the old saying...Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me... People won't be so quick to buy advance tickets without finding out if movie is any good or not anymore...

Why does the word 'hate' keep getting trotted out to describe a critical opinion? It's hyperbolic, and used to incite bad feeling between hypsters.

This is a comic book movie. Nobody feels strongly enough about it to hate it. There's nothing wrong with feeling that the movie is a letdown, just like there's nothing wrong with liking it.

Jeez.

Put me in the camp of "not all", will avoid JL OW. i will wait for critic and fan reactions before spending my money.

I would've agreed, if you were in the open discussion forums... but Box Office Prediction is more about the financial reality of the movie's release.

It's disappointing to say the least.

I don't see people waiting to find out if it is good or bad. It's an event film. First JL movie, it's going to have a big opening no matter what.

This is accurate.

It is accurate, but unless the quality of the film improves markedly, it will have the same box office issues and we'll be back having the same discussion about how it might not make money in theaters but will get into the black once DVDs and the rest are accounted for. And I suspect WB didn't go to all this trouble to make what amounts to the biggest promotional campaign ever for a home video release.

It will open big no matter what. As you point to, there is no guarantee for long term success if it's not a good film though.

Perhaps it was a strong word to use but considering the inexplicable desire for many (not all) on here to see this movie fail along in every way is odd.

But it hasn't failed in every way at the BO so it makes it even more odd.

How big of an opening? $700 mil? $800 mil? Superman and Batman and Wonder Woman together didn't even do close to $500 mil. Adding Aquaman is gonna make it bigger? Or Cyborg? OW doesn't mean anything without at least one good weekend following it as BvS proved. And you'd be surprised how many people won't jump on the presale ticket bandwagon this time around. BvS' slow painful spiral down into disappointment is a daily media talking point from Washington Post to Entertainment Weekly. Do people really think writers are gonna forget this by JL time? Every article will lead with "The superhero follow up to the critically panned, underperforming BvS"

I meant many on these board and not the GA. I don't think the GA cares nearly as much one way or the other. It's a "I liked it" or "I didn't really like it" for them versus extremes on these boards.

It's not inexplicable if you feel the film is a failure on many levels, and want it to do badly so Snyder is removed (or at least his influence greatly lessened) in any further DC projects.

For those who think the box office for JL will be great no matter what, they should think back to another WB released film... The Matrix... Matrix Reloaded had a HUGE opening weekend but it sucked horribly... So bad that when Matrix Revolutions was released many stayed home refusing to waste their money on that crap... WB is on the verge of repeating history...
