Doctor Strange usurping Batman v Superman. Surely you jest. Batman v Superman is the nascent union of Batman and Superman on screen. Doctah Strange is just flavor of the week.

Puffs chest. Torques bicep.

That's true. I'm still very surprised about its legs. Same for Deadpool. We're gonna start seeing more tentpoles released in February from now on. It's not gonna be a dumping ground anymore

I question how effective February is outside the President's Day/Valentines Day holiday.

Do we have anything more specific? DS is also a movie that I think can get into the GotG range if it's done right. By xtension that means could come in above BvS. They have the right actor for DS.

Wasn't DS described as "horror"-esque? If so, doesn't scream family friendly. I can't see it getting 800+ million, especially opening in November with Fantastic Beast opening 2 weeks after.

Snyder... what have you done with Tacit Ronin? Have you got him locked up somewhere with your favourite copy of Atlas Shrugged, you monster?

I can see DS doing gangbusters internationally. Especially in the UK lol. BvS' boxoffice numbers the actuals should be in shortly

Stark Bauer, love isn't the only force capable of transforming an enemy into a friend. MLK is wise. But he never knew that MARTHA is another such force.

No. It was described as being a movie that goes on a interdimensional "trip" so to speak.

So... yeah this is looking like it won't even break $900m at this point, looking like it'll land between $850m and $900m. I think Zootopia will be the 2016 WWBO leader until CW comes out.

BvS definitely isn't getting past Zootopia. It just pulled in $22M in its ninth frame (not to mention $14M domestically this weekend). It also is going to open in Japan (where Frozen did $249M and Big Hero 6 did $77M) towards the end of April. It's already at $852M with an outside shot at $1B if Japan blows up; either way it will finish well above BvS.

Tacit Ronin dropping them proverbs

Cumberbatch doesn't pull people into the cinema despite his love by critics.

These animated movies always own it up, it's basically 3 tickets per 1 of a normal movie - 2 kids and a parent

depends if El Maybe is correct on WB releasing the R-rated cut in theaters prior to the blu ray release. They might be able to pull in some more.

I think he had old info. Wasn't current post-2nd weekend drop.

I can tell you from personal experience he has a very passionate fan base.

In terms of just putting butts in seats he's a healthier choice than Joaquin Phoenix at least. Not many TV actors have name recognition and a dedicated fanbase like Ben. He's also just stellar on stage.

But, anyway, buuurx urfuuuurce. No actuals? It's almost 6 pm?

Deadpool hasn't opened in Japan either. What is it expected to do? Could it still pass BvS?

Neither did Pratt. Neither did Evans. Neither did Hiddleston (Cumberbatch's bestie)

Prior to Iron Man RDJ wasn't known as a boxoffice beast. Perhaps Strange will be Cumberbatch's Stark?

Plus, comparing RDJ's career prior to Iron Man vs. Cumberbatch's career prior to Strange, Cumberbatch's has a more rabid fan base/cult like following. Marvel Studios have a tendency of turning normal actors into blockbuster headliners. See RDJ, Pratt, Bautista getting all kinds of roles post Guardians.

Anyway boxoffice numbers I predict at least a 1 million difference between BvS and The Boss

No, Deadpool is not going to end up higher than BvS worldwide, although it will beat it domestically. DP is pretty much out of gas internationally and maybe has $10M left domestically. Japan doesn't embrace superhero flicks like they do Disney animation. (Frozen was an exceptional case as the 3rd highest grossing film there ever).

For some benchmarks, DoFP did $10M and even AoU did "only" $26M in Japan so I don't think DP will top $10M there.

So I guess the suggestion that BvS may have stabilized around F7 numbers around Wednesday was incorrect. BvS once again disappointed, ending up 20% lower than F7's third weekend with 23,363,079 which is very close to the studio estimates ($23.435M).

F7 made $58M from this point on but BvS has been dropping more steeply. If it holds up with <40% drop next weekend against JB (doubtful), it can probably look forward to a $240M domestic final (best base scenario). If it continues to plummet, that 2.0 multiplier looks increasingly likely.

The odd thing is even the trades keep overestimating this movie. At this point, just assume it'll make less then projected. It's not unreasonable given how if it's a bad film, means it makes less than you think.
