BvS Batman V Superman Box Office Prediction - Part 2

Taking into account the BVS one week early screenings, it could be really beneficial to the movie. The people who got those passes where probably people who where already hyped for the movie in the first place. The WOM for the movie would get a nice boast. However sword goes both ways, if it can't please the fans then....

Funny thing is starwars is on pace to do a billion domestically(I heard). And working alot on novelty and hype as well as a good time among other things.
To think this with everything it is, won't even reach a billion WW according to some, that's a shame.

I could see where these folks would be coming from if this was a BvS that followed Returns and was pre TDK.

BvS is a sequel to a movie that grossed 600M internationally despite the controversy and had a positive audience score, adds the second most marketable and iconic superhero character in all existence (Spiderman being the first) whose name alone guarantees success, and introduces the most well-known female superhero to the big screen in a environment that's begging for more female heroic characters.

And, despite what some of the lunatics on comic book boards would have you believe, the trailers didn't quell the hype. I'm not sure if it added to it, but it really didn't diminish it. Every reputable BO analysis I've seen predicts 1B worldwide gross. Every predictive indicator on the sites I've been on says this movie will be big. Fanboys can't remake reality with their ******** over a movie they didn't like. Sphincters aren't magic rings that can erase professional quantitative analysis.

You can think what you want, but I'm reasonably sure a billion will be reached. Because, to be honest, reaching the billion dollar mark ain't the impossible feat it used to be. If the movie sucks, it might not get much more than a billion, but it should still reach it.

It's making it to 1.5B and beyond that the real test.

What predictive models have you been looking at? All I've seen so far has been wild guesses. And my initial guess was just shy of $1 billion.

But I've seen the light! BvS is going to make eleventy billion dollars, win the Oscar and cure renal cancer!

I completely forgot about the advanced screening. WB is actually taking a huge risk with that. If the screener's aren't pleased with the movie, the WOM is already ruined.

Was it before or after the movie was rated PG-13 that they gave out the early screening tickets during that trailer/teaser event?

WB must be confident the movie is good.

They are confident it's good maybe great...it's been getting applause and cheers from test screening audiences that have leaked out...I think they're feeling very confident about this movie. Check out the link below:

Riskyyyy.

Well if what Damon said is true, that Affleck has seen a rough cut of BvS and is "very pleased" with it, I have faith. Affleck hasn't given me a reason to not trust him when he's on the other side of the camera.

"Very pleased" is not exactly OMGBESTCBMEVUR, but I'll take it. I really do hope that he had some hand in the writing or editing room. Affleck's movies are so well paced.

Well remember, he's an acclaimed director with a better sense of this stuff than any of us here. 'Very pleased' coming from him is a very good sign. Nothing definitive, but it definitely gives me great hope on this film.

By the time BVS will be out in theaters they will have already completed two other big budget movies. Wonder Woman will be in post, suicide Squad will be ready to go, and JL might even be shooting. They've poured a lot of money in the DCEU.

I hope it's all worth it.

Yeah although I remember Fox had a date slated for FF 2, and TASM 2 ended with sinister six teases

But unlike them, WB has already invested money in their future films in the series.

BvS is the sequel to a film that at best got a mixed response and introducing a recast Batman and a relative newbie as WW. To suggest that it is guaranteed to make a billion at the BO is ridiculous.
This!

Unlike them, Suicide Squad has already been shot and WW's currently shooting. Whether BvS turns out to be a critical hit or not, one thing's clear: WB is very confident in this film.

I think it ultimately depends on how good the film is! It has to be a good film to make a billion. If it's not good it will come in under a billion. But assuming that it's pretty darn good, something over a billion is not a stretch at all. If it is excellent (and critics love it) around 1.5. If a contender for the greatest CBM made to date, I don't see it making TFA or Avatar box office, but somewhere between 1.5 - 1.9.

But consider this: If it is truly a great film and an extended director's cut also gets a theater release this summer, then I could even see it cracking 2 billion. But that's a perfect storm.

I'm sorry, but with all due respect, that's not at all true. Just look at TF, AoU, JW, and Furious 7.

Starwars on pace to make a billion domestically!!!???
Americans are crazy.

Well, arguably those were all "good" films. (Sorry, TF is for? Forgive me, I know I'll recognize it instantly when you tell me... TFA?)

No. None of those are good films. At all.

TFA = Force Awakens.

Umm, well we're getting into the realm of subjective opinion. What defines good for something like this? Those films were enjoyable for the GA and all came in at 70s-90s for a RT score.

I mean, I do get the point, though, that on occasion hugely successful films (box office-wise and that are rated 'fresh' on RT) can be seen as poor movies by discriminating fans.
