Batman: Year One

The casting for these movies, as a whole, is brilliant.

I can't wait to see who they get for 'Justice League: Doom'.

I'm wondering if they'll make Doom a sequel to Crisis on Two Earths.

I agree, going with someone else for Year One may be a smart decision, but I want Kevin in another adapted movie. Not just Superman/Batman stuff. Maybe TDKR, TKJ, TLH, etc.
I would love for them to do The Long Halloween after this followed by Dark Victory those are basically continuations of the year one storyline.

McKenzie's a really good actor and totally suits playing a rookie Batman. He played a rookie cop in Soutland so I can see where the thought process for this casting came from. Dushku is a fanboy choice for Selina and has improved as an actress hugely over the years. Katee Sackhoff is my favourite actress and I'm delighted she's getting in on the DCU. Gordon casting is also another stroke of genius too. Awesome casting.

I hope so, they had a great cast for the whole league and some setup for actors should stay. Andrea Romano is already recasting people in different roles in different movies, but they started a "sequel" line with Superman/Batman which works really well.

Yes because what better way to continue Year One then ignoring his accomplishments in Year One, showing him as a dumb horrible detective and have Gilda Dent somehow even tho she was in hospital bed sneak out to murder people, this is all we need for 75 minutes and yeah even if they would make it a two-parter who on earth would wish to spent approx 40 bucks (think about the general audience, not yourself comic fans) for 160 minutes of footage?
yep. i know i did
dude, he had 15 yrs worth of good scripts. he's not trying to leave his mar on batman, it's already there. he can and should retire his batman outside of the arkham games. hamil did it for the joker, and he's left just as big a mark if not bigger on that character than conroy has on batman

Indeed. Hamill had the chance to play Joker in Red Hood but passed the role, the guy is doing a good job voicing other characters in new cartoons such as in Regular Show or some guest appearances in Adventure Time.
YES!!

The Killing Joke... with Hamill and Conroy :hrt:

Don't you dare retire before it Hamill. But then he has been retiring from The Joker for years. :yay:

Killing Joke shouldn't be made a DTV, make it like Marvel Knights did with Thor and Loki. Killing Joke depends too much on narrational story telling which is snoooooooooooooore for the general audience, what faith would WB ever have with the DTV lines if a Batman one flopped?

Bryan Cranston was always destined to play the role of Jim IMO.

Not sure about that still though. I don't think Year One is a good story to get kiddied up. It tends to clash with the Frank Millerness.

Still, could be good. Have to wait and see.

Eliza as Catwoman. My dream has come true in one form.

Just too bad Eliza Dushku as Catwoman never happen In Live action.

Kevin Conroy IS best animated batman voice and one of top 3 batman ever. The only
non Conroy voice In the line that have come close to him Is Bruce Greenwood.

They really should have used some of the DCAU voices for Crisis on Two Earths since it started as a DCAU production. We may not get another Superman/Batman film.

Maybe they will use Conroy and a couple others from Justice League for Justice League:Doom. If they use Michael Ironside for The Dark Knight Returns then that would
be good.

A shame Warner brothers won't throw a bone to DCAU fans by allowing Bruce Timm to return to DCAU with a Justice League or batman Beyond film.I really wish Crisises on two Earths would have been allowed to remain a Justice League DCAU film.If you cahnged green Lantern to Jon Stewart, remove Lex Luthor In main Universe In prison and drop the
bit showing the Martain Manhunter's comci book arrival on Earth It Is obvious what It
was Intended to be.

In Year One It will be Intresting to see If they will be allowed to keep the hints that
Selina Kyle as Dominatrix(go back and read Year One.She appears to be a Dominatrix)
and If they keep the hint of the Joker at the end.

What the hell is Justice League: Doom?

The adaptation of Tower of Babel thats in the works.

DO you got a link buddy?

My biggest issue with the constant recasts is that none of the voice actors gets to grow into the role. Hamill, as fantastic as he, inarguably got better with the Joker over the years.

There's a lot of talent in these roles. Why not keep them?

The movies aren't connected. They have their own identity. That's why there's different actors each time. That's just how they want to do it. Personally, I like it. It'd be boring to have the same voices in every single movie.

Eh? Can you explain precisely what is boring about continuing a performance? Were you bored with Conroy or Hamill after their first episode? First season?

I can understand wanting something new after a well established run. But one movie in, that's more than a bit short. None of the actors are being given a chance to really own their role. It's a one-shot deal and they're off. I especially hate it when I love a particular performance, and they're being wasted away by recasting for the next project.

The Dark Knight Returns must be next in DC's bookshelf to adapt.
I sure hope so.
In the meantime, this is nice.

Whats with all the people wanting more Batman stories? Shouldn't we be clamoring for Flash, Aquaman and a sequel to the best animated feature yet; Wonder Woman?

Of course not. That was all the same continuity. The movies aren't. That's why having different actors doesn't bother me. I enjoy hearing different takes on these characters. Some of you guys are acting as if Conroy and Hamill are the only actors who have ever played Batman and Joker. There's no doubt that they're the best.

They already had the Superman/Batman go with a sequel, why not use the Crisis on Two Earth cast for more JLA movies? All they need is 1 single reference and bam it's a sequel, just like Apocalypse was.

Also Bruce Timm at Dwayne McDuffie's funeral said the movie is JLA: Chaos, so they might have renamed the movie.

I know it's a different continuity. But if that's the reason they're recasting every project, it's a very flimsy excuse. I can't think of any single instance where the stories or arcs clash with each other. Whatever differences exist are negligible at best. Certainly does not warrant a new crop of actors.

Also note that both Conroy and Daly reprised their roles for Public Enemies. Different art style could conceivably denote a universe separate from the DCAU, yet two prominent voices return. If it's part of the DCAU and only drawn differently, well that just supports the perception that regardless of which canon a story belongs to, the elements that make up these individual stories hardly necessitate an entire revision and can be made to support a single timeline.

Not what I've been saying at all. I do enjoy new takes. But I'm not getting much out of it if I have to reassess my tastes from movie to movie. For the most part, the new crew have done a sufficient job with their parts. But if I were to hazard a guess, they'd prove more efficient if given the opportunity break into the roles.

I took a particular liking to Sisto and Greenwood's turns at Batman. Did I love them? Nah. But then again, I didn't "love" Conroy the instant I heard him either. He slowly but surely just became the character to me.

I hope they include the little bit where he takes out the Swat guy for trying to shoot the cat in the abandoned building part. I love that bit! :woot:

Jeph Loeb wrote those stories with Conroy's and Daly's voices in his mind. I don't know for sure, but I think that's why they did that.

Sorry about that. It wasn't really aimed at you. I'm just getting sick of people whinging, 'Why can't they get Conroy?' everytime there's a new Batman movie.

I understand what you're saying. It just doesn't bother me. :woot:

It would be great if there could be a JL reunion for the next movie with Newbern instead of Daly.
