I dunno man....i mean; people at work who i KNOW dont even read comics are hyped about Dark Knight. Hell; my wife and daughter approached ME about going to see the midnight showing, and i usually have to DRAG them with me to all the various comic movies...

Im just saying; Im seeing more enthusiasm and anticipation for TDK than any other comic movie since...well...Batman '89.

^Hey you're doing like if it would bother me if these movies don't make as much as I predicted. I'm not one of those fans who would immediately catch a heart attack if their movies dont live up to their box office predictions.

Neither am I. I just don't get your rationale behind why it would be IMPOSSIBLE for TDK to beat Iron Man. It has way more hype behind it, it's a sequel, it's gonna have great word of mouth, it's Heath Ledger's last FULL movie, it's got the ****ing Joker in it...

Iron Man was fantastic. And it made so much money on it being great. But TDK is gonna be great AND it has those things behind it. Why do you see it being impossible for TDK to beat IM? IM could very well beat TDK, I'll admit that. I just think it's very possible for TDK to win because it has ALOT more going for it.

:wow: :hehe: :o :woot: :word:
^ My reactions as they happened

"These audiences DESERVE a better class of blockbuster... and I'm gonna give it to 'em.

I'm a man of my woooord."

Dude, f****ing sigged!

No, not at all. I'm just curious why it's so important to you, either way. I would think as a fan, you would want all the comic movies to do well, so we get more. What difference does it make which movie makes the most money? Bragging rights, or something?

So if TDK makes 50 - 60M OW isn't that enough? I mean c'mon its a dark and gritty type movie and that is a pretty expected sum.

Most people here expect 150 million or more for the first weekened. Personally I'm thinking it's gonna shock everyone and be around 200 mil.

Even if it is dark and gritty, it has a lot going for it. Joker, Ledger, sequel, Batman, hype, etc.

Plus it still is PG-13, which you can't forget.

Anyone know if this is coming to the UK? And will it have a directors commentary?

It's not UBER dark and gritty. It's not No Country For Old Men. It is a comic book movie. It is a Batman movie. Batman has a much, MUCH bigger fanbase that Iron Man. And 60M is an expected sum from you, not from other people.

I don't understand people saying 60m opening weekend is all we can expect for tdk.
I don't think they get the amount of hype this movie has going for it

Exactly. More than any other comic book movie this year.

I'd have to peg the opening weekend at around $90-100 million. And considering that would be about a 200% increase from Begins' opening, Bat fans shouldn't freak out if this doesn't "blow away" Iron Man's opening.

I completely agree. But for explode7, it's pretty clear it's a Marvel vs DC thing. He's not fooling me with his Batman avvy. He's rooting for IM & TIH to trounce TDK. Simple as that. Ant-Man could be coming out this year and he would have predicted it would blow TDK away.

Personally, I just want these movies (both Marvel & DC) to do well enough to ensure sequels from the studio and to keep the genre strong and healthy. Who ultimately "wins" out makes no difference to me.

Wow dunno what I was talking about, $100 mil US opening weekened is now my prediction, or around there. SM3 scored like $150 right?
