^You have got to be smoking something to come up with that prediction.

Excuseeeee meeeeeee but what the hell are you smoking when you make your predictions, because I can tell you right now it ain't anything good!

how do you guys think Hellboy II will do against the dark knight??

There's another Hellboy coming out????

kidding :D

I don't know....less than Hulk, I would assume, which is crappy because I loved the first Hellboy.

Iron Man and Hulk were really cool and all but I think TDK will be more profound and feel like more than just an comic book action thriller.

i have a good feeling that TDK will be the best selling movie of 2008(domestically maybe not WW)...I will say that...
All my friends are talking about how we're gonna see it at midnight and how cool Heath Ledgers Joker looks...A couple people randomly brought it up within the past week on xbox live...My dads even going at midnight(he doesnt really care for watching movies in theater) Its crazy...crazy cool that is...Im excited...About a month away

The biggest advantage TDK has is us, Batman fans are so passionate and enthusiastic for this film that it's infectious. Our friends and family will find themselves excited too.

Wow, this is actually true. The closer we get the more I bring it up.

By July 18th, people will [be] die[ing] [to see this movie]! :ninja:

Well i just re watched Iron Man today and honestly I think Hulk was the better of the two I know crazy lol but I guess its just after already knowing all the jokes Iron Man wasnt as great the second time around

I found Hulk to be a really good movie, but In my opinion Iron Man was much better. Hulk seemed a little more focused on action and really didn't have a story to much, but I think they are very close Iron-man just edges out Hulk by a hair.

Does anyone know if we will get an estimation of how much TDK sells in advanced tickets?

Thats what I thought at first also i was like Hulk was good but Iron Man was better but then I saw Ironman again and it just wasnt all that the second time around while I started to like the Hulk more mostly cause I spent almost the whole other day watching the Hulk marathon on Sci fi but any ways both good Hulk might of been better if it didnt get royally f**ked with the editing but oh well thats what directors cuts are for.

Hate to be THAT guy, but as much as I enjoyed Begins (and I DID) and as psyched as I am for this, I fear that the dark-aspect of this movie will be what puts Iron Man over the top. Friends of mine (not to be sexist, but female) were saying how scary the Joker looks and I can only imagine that goes for children as well.

I'd LOVE to see Batman win the summer battle, but financially, I think Iron Man wins. Quality-wise, I think Iron Man was overrated so as long as TDK doesn't pull a Spiderman 3, this one should be in the bag.

I kind of agree. Don't get me wrong I thought Iron Man was really good among the best, but as far as quality goes it can't really compete with The Nolan Batman. However like you said I see Iron Man pulling out the comic victory. However I still think Indy has a good chance to win the year. Currently it is still tracking better then Iron Man on a day by day basis.

Agree, maybe I need another viewing of Iron Man (and ironically contributing to the Iron Man financial victory) or something but people I know were acting as if Iron Man was THE movie of the last few years or something. I think it was just refreshing that it didn't suck, last year we had to deal with dud after dud after dud.

Or maybe I'm so far up Nolan's ass that I can't see a "rival" movie in a clear light. Could be a combination haha.

No, Iron Man was a solid flick. One of the better ones in the genre. But it wasn't a complete and utter revelation, either.

I agree too, but part of me thinks TDK might surprise us, which would be nice.

I think what it comes down to is that Iron Man and TIH were still being made as comic films first and foremost(which isn't a bad thing of course).

Nolan has said he wants to not just make a good comic/Batman film but a good film overall that stands on it's own.

I think that's why BB and most likely TDK will be better films in the end. They will feel like real/serious drama films but be based on a comic character.

I loved both Iron Man and TIH, so don't think I'm knocking them when I brought up the "real/serious drama films" bit.

I really wish people would stop using that elitist attitude towards this character and this film. At the end of the day, TDK might be a better movie than both, but that doesn't mean that this somehow isn't a Batman/DC Comics/superhero film.

Wow, you just totally missed my point by assuming I'm another fan talking **** about the "other" comic films. I'm not an elitist and like I said at the bottom of my previous post...I wasn't knocking any of the other comic films.

I realize this is a comic/superhero film. What I was meaning by my earlier post was that directly from Nolan himself, he said that he wanted to make a good film first and foremost.

Basically, ALL comic films obviously want to make a damn good film. With Nolan though he's not just looking at it as simply a comic film. Just look at a number of scenes in the previews/trailers for TDK. People have already been seeing Nolan's influence from films like Heat and The French Connection.

I remember in interviews/DVD extras he was saying how he likes to film the chase scenes in real time instead of speeding up the scene later during editing, he had mentioned The French Connection as an example of a good chase scene.

I don't know, maybe if someone else agrees with what I'm talking about, can state it better than myself.

.....EVERY director wants that.

Did you read the rest of my post or most likely stop at what you quoted?

I ask that because in my post...right after what you quoted I mentioned that they basically all want to make a good film.

I read the post. You're making the very point I thought you were making in your very first post: Iron Man and Hulk were made to be "just comic book films" and TDK was made to be a "real film".

I don't necessarily agree with that, but if that's how you feel, so be it. It's just an opinion I've seen from many a Batman fan. It coincides with the nature of the character (crime, no superpowers, less fantastical elements, etc.)

LOL...whatever man.

I guess maybe it's my own fault for not being able to communicate my opinion better.

I look at all films whether their comic films or animated movies as real films. I guess it's just the tone and way Nolan is filming this one that sets it apart.

I don't agree. I think Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk definitely had more of a formula to them. I don't think it's fair to call that formula a "comic book film" formula because there are many kinds of comic books. I'd call it a Marvel formula and it's not necessarily a bad term.

However, Nolan is different than Favreau and Leterrier in that he's credited as a screenplay writer for Batman Begins. Therefore, Batman Begins has a substantial influence from what could be called traditional film making. Unlike Marvel's scripts which are written to the approval of the studio. Also, Nolan has established himself as a directory and writer, while Favreau and Leterrier are relative new comers.

Hopefully he doesn't go all Burton and make this into the steaming pile Returns was.

I have faith in him though.
