BBC's Sherlock: Series 3

I chalk this up to the episode being about celebrating them being back, having a blast doing so, and poking fun at all the crazy fans.

I quite loved the Tumblr pandering. At this point, I'm just glad it's back and they all looked like had a blase filming it.

When you look at it, certainly one of the weaker episodes. But by this point it was just so fun watching these characters do their thing.

It was definitely one of the weaker episodes, but it was still a great episode. The likes of Belgravia were just freaking fantastic. Comparing this to a weak episode of say... GoT? I think this was better.

Oh have I missed you, Sherlock Holmes...

Yeah, a little light on plot but damn was it entertaining, enjoyable, and funny. This episode definitely ranks higher than both 'episode 2s'. I honestly could watch these guys just eat food and it'd be amazing. These guys are by far the best John/Sherlock ever, now. They have it down so pat; their banter, their appreciation, their camaraderie, and love.

Can't wait to see what's in store. I love their take on Mary too, a little different than usual (the books/RDJ film).

This was almost a completion to his full arc into becoming the "SH" sort of how CR/QoS/Skyfall was the whole origin for Bond.

I loved all of the homages to V For Vendetta, QoS, and the so forth nods to the Sherlock fandom...

...also, will never get sick of this theme song.

Hehe, all the explanations of how he faked were LIES! We'll never know how he really did it!

Loved the episode. I'm going to watch it again when I get the chance.

Some of my favourite moments
Sherlock driving Anderson crazy. Mollies boyfriend being looking like Sherlock. John beating the hell out of Sherlock. Sherlock had been taking apart Moriarty's criminal network for the last two years. Holmes interviewing clients while being inter-cut with Watson's crazy patients :funny:. Loved Mycroft's joke about Miss Hudson when she walked in the room :woot:. Mycroft taking his parents to a West End show and begging Sherlock to take his place at the interval.

Cumberbatch real parents playing
his parents in the show and Freeman's girlfriend in real life playing his girlfriend in the show

Great use of some central London locations. Special effects looked good as well.

Bring on The King Of Blackmailers! :D

So that's all it was about Molly's boyfriend at the end. I thought he was gonna turn out she fell for another headcase and I was gonna feel real sad for her.

Series 4 of Sherlock is already confirmed I think.

It hasn't been. Everyone has said they'd love to come back. But considering it took over two years to get a series out and given this series seems to be establishing the status quo toward the end of the Sherlock Holmes mythology they have a nice way for this to be the last series.

Freeman got to do his usual middle finger routine.

The ratings for the episode were 9.7 million

I assume the guy at the end will be the main villain, as announced earlier?

So, people have been saying that [BLACKOUT]Lazarus[/BLACKOUT] was the real explanation behind Sherlock faking his death. While it appears that this really was Sherlock telling the truth, unlike the previous two explanations, I disagree.

Go back and watch the scene again. The camera work in both Anderson and Sherlock's conversation and Anderson on his own hint that this is all happening inside his head, and Sherlock isn't really there. The quick cutaways after every line of dialogue, the camera moving in closer to Sherlock's face every time he spoke. It didn't appear to be realistic.

Then of course there's the fact that Sherlock disappeared as soon as Anderson started questioning the theory. He then appears to realise, and begins ripping down all the notes and newspaper clippings pinned to his wall in a fit of insanity.

The Empty Hearse did not explain how Sherlock did it. Whether they'll bring this up again later in the series, who knows, but none of the three ways portrayed in the episode actually happened. That I'm sure of.

I'll admit this gave me a good laugh...

Yes, I believe the whole video thing with Anderson was all a fake. There were holes in it that didn't make sense.

For example, why would they even need an extra corpse to make that ruse work? They didn't in this case. It was just Anderson creating a scenario in his head. I'm sure the creators will always be ambiguous about it, but even if say Sherlock was there, it looked like he was making the whole thing up to get to Anderson.

The episode was one giant troll job by Moffat and Gatiss.

I like the show and all, but yes, this was a complete and utter troll job. I think the message is that how he did it is basically irrelevant at this point. Because from the end of last season we knew he wasn't dead already. So we knew he came up with some elaborate scheme to fake it.

You can argue it is still sad for her. Her consolation prize is a Sherlock lookalike. Look at Lestrade's face when she says she's "moved on." The reality is the exact opposite. She picked a guy who is the doppleganger of her crush.

I'm not as familiar with the books, but did Mycroft and Sherlock come from money? Their parents seemed pretty middle to low-upper class and blue collar. Not really posh, wealthy types. Still that was probably my favorite scene in this episode. As well as how Sherlock ended it with them. Cumberbatch said he was in tears when he saw them onscreen.

I can't find this online anywhere. I don't want to wait seventeen more days :csad:.

Yeah it has, from a while back actually. Before they even announced the air date for S3 or started filming it, Cumberbatch told interviewers that he and Freeman had signed up for 6 more Sherlock Episodes.

As far as this episode goes, it was weaker, but a lot of fun. The only things I weren't sure about were

Sherlock knowing Moriarty's plan the entire time for Riechenbach fall. I didn't like that, now the whole idea that Sherlock's confusion and frustration in trying to beat Moriarty was an act...I just didn't like it. I think it lessens the impact of Moriarty's genius, which I didn't like.

I also wanted a better reason from Sherlock for not telling John he was alive. But that didn't bug me too much.

Well, you can't call this a bad episode. I thought all the jokes worked. Not every episode has to be an epic. Long as I'm entertained.

I'm not quite sure what to make of Sherlock's [BLACKOUT]parents[/BLACKOUT] though.

You're spoiler might *not even be exactly 'real' though... Might just be another allusion by Anderson.
