This.

I'm wondering if they'll give Cavill lifts to make the height a bit more even, or if they'll just have Batman be taller.

It would definitely add to the idea that he is more imposing and a more adept crimefighter than Superman, despite having no powers.

Affleck is listed as 6'3.
And personally I think given that he will be battling for physical presence against superman I say more power to him.

I also think when he get's back into gotham it's going to be a glorious site seeing him tower over gordon and the rest of them

I've been here since 05, ( 04 before that under the name greenk ) and I can honestly say, I have NEVER seen such hate and venom thrown out at an actor cast in a role.
No, not even ledger. That didnt come close to this. this is just insane.
I dont love nor hate the choice, it is what it is. I'll give the guy a chance tho.

Hey if we can have a tall Wolverine, why not? :o

Affleck at 6'3-6'4 will be the most physically intimidating Batman ever on screen. Once he gets in that suit with the boots and ears he'll be almost 7ft tall.

That's the one hesitation I have about Affleck in the role. He's going to tower over Superman unless they dig some ditches for him to stand in when next to Cavill.

They just better get a tall Wonder Woman now otherwise there's no camera angles that are going to make a 5'1" Diana look Amazonian next to a 6'4" Batman.

I personally think Superman and Batman should be about the same height. I always liked the idea of them staring straight ahead when toe to toe.

Give Superman's boots a bit of a lift and don't add to much height to Batman's boots and it should be ok. Superman is definitely going to be "bigger". I can't imagine Affleck getting to the size Cavill can.

Though on the height, it did feel weird in MoS when Superman was shorter then the general.

I think this poll is more representative of the general sentiment regarding Affleck's casting as Batman.

Because Batman is beloved and people have been watching Affleck for a decade and half now. People know what Batman is suppose to be and what Affleck is as an actor. It is not hard to see why. He may surprise, but that is the thing. He'd have to surprise.

I've seen Diana stand at all sorts of heights in relation to her peers.

I'm not sure about this fascination with character heights matching the books. It's all about presence for me personally.

Lest I remember all the people that demanded a 6'7 bane otherwise it wouldn't work.

Since when has this been reality? Batman a more adept crimefighter then Superman? :funny:

Well with Superman crashung through buildings and causing unholy amounts of destruction like there's nothing wrong with it or without much thought, I'd say he's a more adept crimefighter.

People love to nitpick.

i don't min that affleck is taller then cavill honestly. at least it'll look more like a challenge for superman even though he's super powered.

I love Hardy's Bane, and his fight scenes. But it still looks awkward watching him out muscle a man he doesn't actually look bigger then.

Guys, Superman can float. He'll always tower Batman whenever their next to each other

"Sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that the process began earlier this year, after director Zack Snyder had finished working on Man of Steel with producer Christopher Nolan. Snyder and the studio already had ideas for a follow-up, and Snyder reached out to Affleck to check the star's interest."

so they had this planned for a while.

"It's unclear when exactly these talks began. Multiple sources say the studio approached other actors as well, including Josh Brolin. Ryan Gosling was also a possibility, but the actor dislikes the idea of sequels."

Looks like Ben as signed on for sequels.

"The deal also potentially lines Affleck up to star in (and direct?) Warner Bros.' answer to The Avengers: The eventual Justice League movie."

Confronted with the same situation Bruce "All it takes is one slap from Superman to put me in traction" Wayne would be dead. So no, no. The guy has trouble handling a crazy clown. :cwink:

Are we still talking about actor height after it turning out to be such a non-issue with Tom Hardy's Bane?

It just made him look more powerful. Heroic even.

It begs the question, if Zod can stand taller than Superman at no cost, then why cant batman?
All it means is that these other people are really tall, it says little about superman imo.

Don't tell me you could have got Gosling and then didn't. It hurts too much.

I hope not I hope when Bat actually stands toe to toe with him he looks as intimidating as possible.

This. Not only is he shorter, but Tom Hardy actually had less muscle than Bale, and was less defined.

So while he gave a great performance, seeing him perform all of those feats of strength was strange.
