Affleck looks damn good here! If only he could sustain it.

Ironically, the lack of bromance moments between Clark and Bruce in the DCEU so far, really makes you appreciate what we did get. The scene on the farm is really special because of that. I'm sort of glad it's the rare gem and doesn't get lost in the shuffle as just one in a miasma of Bruce/Clark friendship moments.

One of these is a picture of the front of Affleck's face. The other is an angled shot of his face.

There are other shots in even the original trailer that are very similar to the reshoot shot of Affleck posted here.

People have even posted shots of Affleck from the original version side by side with insert shots from the reshoot...even in those, his face is clearly at a different angle than previous shots, or inclined differently. These things affect how your face and its elements look, especially on film.

The general point here is that people's faces look different from different angles.

Affleck clearly looks different in certain scenes than others (like on the plane with Alfred as just one example). This has nothing to do with angles. There was not a single scene in BvS that I thought, "Hmm, Ben looks weird here." Do we think that Snyder was just a genius at always showing Ben's good angles in that movie? But in JL, there are quite a few of these scenes.

The scene where he’s clean shaven? Yeah. People look different without facial hair, too. And in different lighting.

No, he looks bloated. It's more than just lack of facial hair. It's not like he has a beard. Either the alcoholism or botox or both played a factor in how he looked. It's pretty clear this was beyond just being shaven. Even in scenes when he isn't shaven he still looks more bloated at times.

Affleck is a great Batman and Bruce Wayne. He was great in BvS and there were moments I really liked his potrayal in JL. Much of what we saw him in was reshot, he wasnt prepared for it(physically), while neither the material, nor the makeup/color grading did him any justice. I would love to see all the originally shot footage.

Still think he would give us the best Batman on screen ever, if he is in Matt Reeves movie. He gave us the perfect TDKR Batman in BvS, and in JL he showed he can pull of a more classic version too. I think in Matt Reeves story, which would be a noir-ish detective story, we can have our ideal, definitive Batman. And I think Affleck would nail it. It would be a shame to see him go.

Yep.

Affleck's puffy face didnt help, but it could have been so much better. The lighting, color grading, make up, wig etc all played a part, and it should have been better. But no point in complaining about it now. What's done is done.

Unreal :funny:

Tell us more about how Kate Mara's reshoot wig in FFINO was totally fine.

So much for subjectivity...

:loco:

Do you need to remind every DCEU fan of this, too, when they say Batfleck is awesome? No, of course not. Because they are crowing something you agree with, so you're not going to point out what they are saying as being as being every bit as subjective as what I said.

The irony is what you are saying here is not only unnecessary, but also invalid because most people not being sad at the prospect of bland Batfleck leaving doesn't change anyone's right to subjectively think he's a great Batman. There's even a thread especially made for those types of opinions;

Eh, the top one is a reshoot and bottom is original. Nothing to do with angles there.

"No, Fabian, I said less epic, not more..."

I know you're joking but i think it's important to point out that Fabian didn't work on the reshoots. Obviously very clear to see now in hindsight.

I really can't get over The Guard insisting that Affleck looks different because of "camera angles". The amount of mental gymnastics you'd have to pull to actually believe that is just.... staggering.

I'm with you Guard. It's like this burgeoning beer belly some people some relatives are claiming I've got going: it's just the angle you're viewing me at, you humorless philistines.

So it’s got nothing to do with angles...did his nose magically change position during reshoots? Did his nose change shape? Did his eyes move further away from the side of his head? Of course not. He is angled more to the side in original footage, and is just a bit more open in the reshoots. It’s not an extreme difference, but on film, a small change like that produces a different visual. I’m not saying he was in the exact same shape during reshoots, but puffy? Aside from the scene that immediately follows him shaving, which tends to make your skin look pink and somewhat puffy... not so much.

This is such a weird hill to die on.

It's not camera angles or shaving. He got botox and was receiving treatment for alcoholism. His physical appearance notably changed between the original shoot and the reshoots. We can all see it.

Whenever I see that picture of Affleck I think of XTC's song Pink Thing, which is a song I hate. Smdh @ WB pictures

Tho I have to say, his appearance didn't phase me at all Thursday, I was full into the movie

This is how he looked before reshoots, he looked a lot better then.

@micromind I'm pretty sure that scene was a reshoot scene.
