Justice League Ben Affleck IS Bruce Wayne/Batman - Part 6

The Knightmare future doesn't negate his BvS arc. It's a glimpse into what the future could look like if Batman didn't course correct. BvS was part of that course correction and ZSJL will be as well.

Right. It’s only, as The Terminator might say, “one possible future”.

Wait so Knightmare in BvS is prevented by them stopping Steppenwolf? Then this new Knightmare sequence is another alternate timeline? Or is this set before the Knightmare events we saw in BvS? Well guess we won’t know until ZSJL on that will we?

In a future where it still takes place after he’s returned to his classic ways, you’d think Batman would value human life more than ever (where an extremely small amount of ppl are still alive).

I mean it's not just any possible future. It's an extremely dystopian future he tries to prevent from happening. Him feeling severe despair and becoming a murderer again is one of the things he probably wishes to be able to change. It works fine for me and I hate his Batman ways in BvS.

I imagine him letting Superman live...and then Superman becoming a tyrant who goes against humanity and his "1%" rant becoming true would play a part. Probably suffers from a lot of guilt.

I’m not interested in arguing about the quality of BvS and it isn’t the point anyway. The point is the Knightmare future is the worst case scenario and is one our heroes are trying to avoid.

If we can’t accept Elseworlds versions of characters within an already Elseworld tale, then that to me is just an incredibly narrow and boring path forward.

It’s more boring to have Batman kill again after seeing him murder for an entire movie and overcome it. It’s way more interesting to show him be the ONE guy on planet earth who still has a moral code during a friggin apocalypse.

The back and forth stuff is annoying not interesting. It’s like showing Superman mope for two movies, which actually works well enough once he resurrects in JL...because now you can see Supes arrive in his classic form for the second half. But if you then give us a JL sequel where he’s a evil, straight faced frowner for 3 hours...it’s like...why? We saw that already.

Let’s see Batman save humans even if it’s in a Knightmare timeline. We’ve seen enough of that other stuff.

Whatever happens in the directors cut has zero bearing on what happens in the theatrical films moving forward, and for that reason, I say let Snyder do whatever he wants with this movie.

I never said he shouldn’t do what he wants. I just don’t have to like every choice.

But is that remotely realistic? This is a post-law apokoliptic future. It's all hands on deck.

I don’t like a lot of Zack’s creative choices either, the difference now is that he’s no longer at the center of the DC film universe, so frankly I don’t care how many liberties he takes with this thing.

now if I were to wake up tomorrow to read that he’s directing a Justice League 2 and 3 for theaters and producing multiple other DC connected universe projects, I would probably have a much different opinion, lol.

i think batman killing in a post apocalyptic future is fine because life would have become survival of the fittest. i didnt like him killing in BvS but in the knight mare future i think it should be allowed.

Whenever Batman kills it's going to be a controversial choice. I think it's notable in an AU elseworlds story like, Dark Knight Returns at the very end, Batman still couldn't bring himself to kill The Joker. At that point Batman had nothing left to lose, Joker had just killed a bunch of people, and he was basically a rabid dog that needed to be put down, and Batman still couldn't do it. And that was a Frank Miller story and considered a seminal Batman story. And it's what Snyder based his whole take on Batman on.

That’s unrealistic? Aliens have taken over and the humans that are left...the humanist himself BATMAN...is gonna kill...nevermind lol. I forgot. It’s cooooooool broooo. Batman in a duster in the future so anything gooooes broooo

It's not realistic to expect that he's going to be a slave to pre-Apocalypse rules. In this Mad Max world where he is trying to get a weapon to kill dark-Superman and then is betrayed, sees his own people killed, soldiers gunning for him and likely knows parademons are on the way, what would you suggest he do?

I suggest he use his brain and skills as Batman to do Batman things to make sure he gets what he wants while not killing anymore humans around him, including an unnecessary mercy kill on the Joker. Parademons or not. Death or not. Batman can still act like Batman.
