I'm expecting him to get a few lines at BEST.

Ben getting the role of angel has always puzzled me because he left a British soap to get the role of one of the most well known X-Men characters and that's not something that often happens

I dunno about him becoming a bit movie star but he may appear on the radar for other film projects as a supporting cast member as a starting point

The thing is we're not even sure there will be another X-Men film about the younger cast after this one so this might be Ben's only appearance as Angel.

And Ben is a beautiful guy but there are hundreds like him in Hollywood right now and hundreds more keep showing up every year, it's an industry that is very hard to keep being a part of for too long nowadays. This is why even big movie stars move on to television, it gives them a steady job.

And this is why almost everyone wants to be a part of the Marvel or DC movie universes because this is the closest the movies get to make you be a part of serialized television, in the movies it helps you keep being inside the industry for a long time.

If he leaves an impression he could break out a bit. Even if he has few lines his look could make up for that. I'm expecting really cool metal wings.

i think all the horseman will have equal roles tbh even if perhaps they have different motives for being there as after all There is only 4 of them So I can see some communication going on within that group

And When it comes to angel not showing up in that new mutants list in EW I'd say neither did psylocke but because she was on the cover it's easy to forget she wasn't listed there either

I do wonder how angels wings will be done, CGI? Part practical effects? Nothing that's finished yet?

Yeah, we really didn't get to see anything from Ben on the EW cover, weird.

It makes me think he won't have such a big role...

Its hard to say because we don't know what the wing effects require, whether they are pratical or CGI so image wise it may not look very good and storm didn't appear on the EW cover either

But hey we got a fair amount of teasing for angel/archangel with concept art months ago so it seems like he was one of the things early on that singer wanted to tease

and singer tagged archangel recently

looks like one of his wing blades

Judging by the concept arts, he'll be introduced as Angel and will become Archangel in the movie.

Honestly, I have very low expectations because for me there is no way they're giving him the character development I think he deserves with this transformation storyline.

I just expect them to not do something worse than I think. Cough mute mutant cough.

Eh, I'll take mute mutant over the ArchAngel storyline from the comics.

Meh you already got that in X3. :o

I would call it the Arclight syndrome. She was such an extremely random character, only there for her (admittedly cool) action scene. She didn't say anything, but was very often seen together with the other more important characters. Although, I'm sure Angel won't be such a character.

I'm also hoping there will be less mute mutants. Bishop, Colossus, Sunspot, Blink, Warpath and even characters like Storm and Rogue were practically 'mute' or they didn't have real dialogue, just some short lines. The bulk went to Charles, Wolverine, Mystique and Magneto.

But I'm guessing/hoping the dialogue will be a bit more even, since the screentime and the amount of characters seem to be less disproportionately than in DOFP. I'm rather curious on which side Angel will end up.

We do see how apocalypse finds angel which is in a bar fight so he certainly won't be one of those mute character henchmen that just happens to be there

I assume we would need an explanation to why he is given metal wings and I am guessing it won't be a simple quick explanation

Question: This role is the same character of Angel from X3 but in a different timeline, right? Or in comics they are 2 different characters?

It's such a shame because the few lines Bishop has in the Rogue Cut gives him such an interesting personalilty.

Right, thank you. So we got 2 characters from X3 come back in different age in the new timeline, Psylocke and Angel.

True...but you can barely acknowledge that character was Psylocke :D.

As intitially disappointing as it was to see more continuity guffs, I can't wait to see Singer do Angel and Psylocke some justice.

I doubt Angel will be mute, but he won't have a huge amount of dialogue either. I predict a Banshee-sized role.

Add Moira MacTaggert to the list.

I think you mean fight club.

Wel.... from what I imagined even before Ben Hardy was cast... I don't think his transformation to Archangel would have an impact to the X-Men in this film, simply because there's just no strong bond between him and the X-Men yet. And it looks like he might be Apocalypse's recruit first before he joins the X-Men (which I'm doubtful but who knows).

How do you make an X-Men Apocalypse movie, decide to have Archangel as one of the Horsemen, and not make him the main one (Death)?

To me, if that is the case (which it appears to be), it's a travesty.

The moment I heard that Mags (and Storm for that matter) are Horsemen, and that it's not a situation of being transformed/mind altered, as it is Apocalypse being someone who can convince people to so his bidding (or however it was explained), I started having major concerns for this film.

To me, Archangel as the Horseman Death is where the focus should be, as far as the Horsemen, but everyone has to know that Erik will likely steal the Horseman spotlight!
