Days of Future Past X-Men: First Class filming thread: News, reports, images etc.

Because its a preeeeeeeeeeeeequel.

yeah, still can't believe so many people still don't comprehend it......not specifically people on this board, although there are some...

...actually, don't want to relive the argument I had with a friend, lol, I'll save that for another day...

So let me get this straight:

X-Men (2000)
X2 (2003)
X-Men: The Last Stand (2006)
X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009)
X-Men: First Class (2011)

Which of these exist within the same continuity? Because I'm having trouble buying that all of the do.

EDIT: Disregard. Redundant post.

yeah i got that, thanks.

I just meant it's strange that people defend the setting as being when the original comics came from, but at the same time defend characters who have no business being here (like havok, most noticeably)

Not really. They like the 60's feel and appreciate there have to be different characters as that time is 40 years before X1.

That's why they should have just went with a reboot. Trying to connect this film with the others puts so many limits on it.

I'll wait to see how they make all of this work, but I tend to agree that a reboot might have been the better route to go.

I'm hoping to be impressed, but there's a part of me that still thinks a "first class" movie should involve the original X-men. They seem to be trying too hard to slam this into the continuity of the other films.

Holding out hope, though.

I'm just gonna say it. A reboot with only the original 5 students would be a boring movie, that's why it wasn't made.

Even if the series was rebooted, it would never be about the original five. Wolverine and Storm would be all up in that film. And I've had just about enough of those two. :o

you're so right! I believe Storm, Wolverine, Rogue were added to X1, and later characters to show diversity, cause conflict, served the purpose of the story and for visual effects (all of Storm's power display scenes were awesome imo)

I think an original x-team movie would put me in the mind of the Fantastic 4 films, nice action but over all boring films

But that's the great thing about a reboot they could have done whatever they wanted, used whichever characters they wanted but since it's an origin movie that's connected to the other films they were somewhat limited to the characters they could use.

If anything else, Im really hoping this movie proves that the original costumes can be believable and not ridiculous.

Double post

I would have loved a reboot with a team closer to the 90's animated series, Cyclops, Jean, Beast, Gambit, Rogue, Storm, Wolverine and either Jubilee or Kitty Pryde.

X2 had a pretty bad ass lineup.

Cyclops, Jean, Storm, Rogue, Iceman, Nightcrawler, Wolverine.

That would of been perfect.

As much as I like the X-Men series including 3 that is what I've always wanted.

Jim Lee drawn X-Men is my favorite era of art and costume designs. I hope others share these sentiments, I would like to see someone do an X-Men film closer to that of the 90's series as well.

I think this will only happen when Disney/Marvel if ever manage to get the franchise back from Fox.

God what I'd give to see this:

I have absolutely no feel for this movie at all. I really haven't heard or seen anything that makes me go "hell yeah, can't wait", but nothing has really turned me off either. I guess I need to see this trailer.

We define that feeling as "MEH".

That's my favorite era too, but I can't see that era working...i think any era of individual looks/costumes will be harder than if they went with an era where the characters wore uniforms...

I believe Disney/Marvel could pull it off. It may be harder but not impossible in the right hands.

I think the genre will end up becoming stale if we keep retreading. Lets try new things as technology, costume materials advance. I'm sure they could make it work with the right mind spearheading the project.

What I love about this era of the designs is that there is no unifying "uniform" that they all wear. The movies built towards the idea of the X-Men as a team, which is why they all wore similar black leather jumpsuits, Storm being really the only exception. Maybe if the series continues with this kind of costume style that Vaughn and co have developed, we could see an X-Men universe where they all design their own costumes.

Looks like that car just got pwned by a huge piece of plaster.
