Best movie twist ending ever?

The twists are wearing thin on me... ever since the Sixth Sense movies are starting to just write in endings that no one else will expect that heck... even the writers would piss their own pants... go see Perfect Stranger and you will know what I am talking about... I mean... I vomitted... literally.

What was the twist?

The Usual Suspect sucks because the twist does not work in the context of the story. When you have a twist that negates the rest of the movie, you have failed. It means the director could not think of a truly shocking ending that worked within the context of the rest of the plot he created, so he makes something that negates the rest of the plot. It is really lazy, when you actually think about it.

The Usual Suspect is birlliant! Period.

Besides a lot already mentioned:

Terminator 3: John and Kate believe they are going to stop Skynet, but they were secretly led to a shelter so they can survive judgement day

Not super twist, but good IMO

Suprised The Others hasnt been made mention of, even though I watched it with my girlfriend and really pissed her off by being like " OH SHE AND THE KIDS ARE *****!". Hated me for like the whole night.
This is probably the best cinematic twist i had encountered, I had NO IDEA about it at all...

the problem with most films is that you see there is a twist coming, this just came from the left field and smacked me in the face...

it's pure genius but unfortunately unlike memento or fight club, it doesn't really do much with repeatability.

you only ever need to watch it once. Maybe that's why it's not high on the list.

Titanic, when the ship sank I was like "whoa, didn't see that one coming".

Unbreakable had a great twist.

I never really saw that ending as much of a twist, didn't really shock me very much. Love the movie, just wasn't shocked by the ending.

One of my favorite twists is in a Die Hard with a Vengance, finding out what the actual heist was, not really a twist ending, just revealing what the real plan was. Also Ocean's Eleven finding out how the plan was actually executed.

This is the funniest thing i have heard all day man, that was a good laugh, thank you.

Yeah i hear you I just wish i had'nt figured it out and just been shocked but oh well I'll just watch it with some unsuspecting folk and have them get the WTF face lol.

What was the twist?

Halle Berry is the real killer, but it doesn't make sense, since even when she was alone in certain scenes (and knew she was alone) she acted like she didn't know who the real killer was. It would make sense if she had a personality disorder like in Fight Club, but she didn't.

I'm shocked that anyone was shocked by the ending of the sixth sense. I saw it coming halfway through the movie, and I was nine!

Oh...oh god...that's just...terrible. :o

I was born in 89...Empire wasn't a surprise. Which sucked.

In recent memory Dead man's chest had a twist...well more of a surprise with Jack "dying".

Fight club caught me off guard, along with American History X...Both great Ed Norton movies.

Prestige was amazing.

But for me hands down the first Saw has the BEST twist. I first saw it after saw 2 came out. I knew the guy wasn't the real killer...but I didn't expect him to be there the whole time.

I agree that The Prestige had a pretty amazing twist.

Was i the only one who guessed right off the bat that the killer was in the room in scream?
