Batman Begins was pretty spot on, but as far as JUST THE ORIGIN part of the film. Fantastic Four was near the top for me-the high point of the movie.

...best origin movie???

Shouldn't it bee the best origin scene.

And by saying the story is "All about a girl".

That's not what Spider-Man is about.

:hehe:

But the origin movie sets up the universe and the characters. It goes beyond being showered in cosmic rays or whatever. It's the starting point, and not only the origin for the hero/es, but the main antagonist as well, and their relationship, and the relationship with the suporting cast, etc...

I hear you, but...
Best in shots and scene as a movie-or best as bein true to the original comic material- OR best as in set-up for sequels?

I know what the origin is for, but some filmakers take liberties, especially w/ the comic art form that don't exactly fit true to the original stories.

Sometimes the origin story is just there to set-up the protagonist, but beyond set-up, I'm takin it as the best filmed mirroring the original story.

Well maybe we should open a thread about the most faithful CB origin, then, regardless of the overall quality of the movie. How's that scan?

The thread is about the quality of the movie rather than its faithfulness, but of course, people can vote for what they want, its entirely up to yourselves.

Quality or faithfulness to source material, my vote still goes to Iron Man.

^For me personally, faithfulness and quality go hand in hand most of the time, so its pretty easy to pick a definitive best that can be chosen on both.

Batman begins, I mean seriously can ANYONE sit here and say they saw the Ras Ah Ghul twist coming? or anticipated a sequel more than any other movie after seeing this?

Iron man was no doubt awesome, but the ending was sorta like well ok.

Yes, I saw it coming. That's not a knock though. Movies rarely ever suprise me. I anticipated SM3 & X3 more. Too bad they sucked, cause SM2 & X2 were good.

I spoiled myself stupidly with the twist so I saw it coming. X3 and Spiderman 3 were 2 of the most anticipated movies of my life, and X3 turned out to be one of the worst CB movies for me. Spiderman 3 dissapointed me, but on re-watches I have found a new appreciation for it.

I pick Iron Man as an origin film, but the villains for Batman Begins were pretty much perfect.

Gotta go with Iron Man with Blade being a close 2nd.

Hellboy. Because the entire story is about how his origin doesn't define him and he can be his own person. And... Hellboy > everything.

While I dont think its THE best, its one of them, and both Hellboy movies get overlooked SO much in these types of polls its disgusting.

Don't worry Ave, I'm the one repping Hellboy in all the polls that pop up.

And I just think it is the best because it sets up this huge mythology around his origin but the entire theme of the movie is that... the origin doesn't define the man.

Oh I big both movies up quite a lot, just cant claim them as the best when I dont honestly think that :csad:.

I know what you mean about HB, it sets up the world superbly and tells the best thing about the character brilliantly, that he is constantly fighting against his destiny. Great stuff.

How was Batman Begin's origin "spot on"?
1) Where in the movie did Bruce promis on his parents grave to fight criminals?
2) Where in the comics did Bruce try to kill Joe Chill?
3) Where in the comics did Ra's al Ghul train Bruce in ninjitsu?
....and thats just off the top of my head

It's already been discussed that this isn't particularly about comic book accuracy. Yea Nolan took some creative liberties but those changes made it a brilliant, meaningful film.

Batman Begins is a close second, but for my money, the best origin put on film is Superman: The Movie.

^It honestly surprises me how highly regarded that movie still is.

^I'm suprised to hear anyone say that. It's pretty close to a masterpiece(not quite there, though) and this is coming from a guy who likes NOTHING about DC characters.
