Best Origin Movie?

^I'm suprised to hear anyone say that. It's pretty close to a masterpiece(not quite there, though) and this is coming from a guy who likes NOTHING about DC characters.

Yeah, wasn't a DC comic fan. I always read Marvel, but I still think DC has made the top 2 or 3 Superhero movies ever made. Superman: The Movie is a classic and I don't think any other movie in the genre will ever be as well remembered..except for maybe The Dark Knight (that movie is a classic right out of the gate). Marvel had Spider-man 2 which almost brushed up against the kind of greatness that Superman and the Dark Knight achieved, but not quite there. Ironman felt like it tried to get there too.
But as for the best origin, you just can't beat the care that was given to Superman in that first Donner film.

It's already been discussed that this isn't particularly about comic book accuracy. Yea Nolan took some creative liberties but those changes made it a brilliant, meaningful film.

I dont doubt the influence it has had on every CB movie and even some comic books since, or that it was an important movie for its time, but today, its just TOO campy and ridiculous IMO. I can still watch it, but its no masterpiece for me.

It'll come as no surprise if I catch hell for this, but non have matched or surpassed Ang Lee's Hulk for me. Though Superman and Spiderman do come close.

How was Batman Begin's origin "spot on"?
1) Where in the movie did Bruce promis on his parents grave to fight criminals?
2) Where in the comics did Bruce try to kill Joe Chill?
3) Where in the comics did Ra's al Ghul train Bruce in ninjitsu?
....and thats just off the top of my head

Here's another question: Why does that matter? Why does it need to be exactly like the comics?

I'll go for Batman Begins! But Spider-Man & Iron-Man were tight contenders too!

They way they introduced Batman and all that in BB though, beats them!

I'd have to say the original 'Spider-Man' is the quintessential 'Super Hero Origin Film' ... complete with all the conventions and storytelling aspects that go into an origin tale.

While 'Iron Man' and 'Batman Begins' refine upon it, 'Spider-Man' broke it down into almost a formula of sorts.

If you wanna see the most basic, yet still entertaining way of doing an origin film, watch 'Spider-Man' and it'll hit upon all the points.

When I'm in a patient mood and considering TDK, I would go for BB.

When I'm not trying to really think and want a good time, I go Iron Man.

When I'm thinking of how a super hero movie first thought of it, the way a hero should act and the way he should look doing it, Spider-man.

I always hated how spider-man skipped over the part where he actually gets his costume. Just: BOOM! Costume. Other films had missed it too, but in this one it seemed kind of needed to me. Other than that, it was pretty good.

Would it be ok if the movie makers decided that he never witnessed his parents death or that his parents never died in the first place?
I am not asking for a carbon copy of the comics but i find it hypocritical of people who complain that Jack Napier killed Bruce's parents in B89 but are ok with Ra's Al Ghul training Bruce in BB...or the same ones who complain about the Green Goblin's costume in Spider-man see nothing wrong with a Joker with a smudged makeup look in TDK.

Personally I treat all CB movies as "elseworlds" tales so unless the change is offensive, I probably won't b**** about it as long as it's good.

Blade didn't delve too much into his origin. We don't see him meet whistler, train himself, kill his first vampire or anything like that. The most we really see is his mother go into the hospital. When we first see snipes character, he's already been around for a while and is very much who he is.

Fantastic four is VERY focused on the origin though. We see them before the accident, we see them get hit by cosmic rays, we see them discover their powers and how to use them, get costumes and so on.

I blame doom primarily for that films suckitude.

But Blade is simply a much superior movie, quality of movie is as much about this poll as faithfullness is.

That's why I voted for Iron man.

But I think I'd personally vote for F4 before blade simply because as far as Origin films go, blade just isn't much of one, and that was the first thing I thought of in my elimination.

Yea I wouldn't really consider Blade a origin movie, more of just an introduction you know? But it pisses all over FF in terms of quality IMO.

I voted Spider-Man, and would've voted for Batman Begins too had I been able to vote for more than one. Reason being I think they were the two that had the best balance between showing how their respective protagonists became their alter egos and getting on with the real story upon doing so.

Personally, even though I consider Iron Man to be my all-time favorite comic book movie, I don't think it struck that balance as well despite maintaining what I thought was a solid storyline.

And my biggest gripe with Superman '78 was that it was bi-polar when it came to tone. I've always liked the tone of the Krypton/Smallville scenes. But it just becomes to corny for me once it shifts to Metropolis.
