Beware the Batman - Part 1

Adult Swim is about the only thing I watch on that network.

15 episodes left and it's coming back in January.

However, sources have confirmed for The World’s Finest that Beware The Batman is set to return to Cartoon Network come January 2014. The remaining fifteen episodes are slated to be aired within the first half of 2014, though schedule details are subject to last-minute change. Beware The Batman also currently remains in active production. Anthony Ruivivar, the voice of Batman on Beware The Batman, confirmed the January 2014 return date on the social media outlet Twitter.

I hope they don't stretch these episodes out like "Young Justice". Just let it go out in peace and don't stretch the pain out.

Not counting the 60/70's Batman cartoons (Different era, different rules) where you make the lowest amount of episodes and then repackage them to eternity... Beware the Batman could turn out to be the least successful animated endeavour for the character.

At 26 episodes, it will be the shortest Batman show with seemingly no interest in continuing it.

Yes The New Batman Adventures only had 24 episodes but WB decided to spin it off into Batman Beyond. TNBA had a very successful toyline and produced DTV's and a number of video games.

So yeah... I'm a little shocked that in the post-Nolan movie era people high up didn't have more interest in this show.

Also, The New Batman Adventures just an extension of the original series.

If you look at it that way, Batman: The Animated Series is the most successful of all with that entire run (85 episodes directly) with The New Batman Adventures spinning straight off the canon along with two movies, Batman: Mask of the Phantasm and Batman & Mr. Freeze: SubZero. In turn Batman Beyond is a future continuation of that canon as is the continuity of Superman: The Animated Series, Justice League, Justice League Unlimited and a host of related movies to those titles.

Beware the Batman never stood a chance. Of course it isn't being given a chance either which is all the more disappointing.

- No Toyline
- No real Marketing
- No primetime slot
- A saturday morning debut surrounded by repeats.

Hmm, it's almost as if CN wanted this to fail. :oldrazz:

If I were paranoid, I might agree with that.

So yes, they set it up to fail.

Ask Legend of Korra fans: Saturday morning looks pretty good compared to primetime on a Friday night. :oldrazz:

Hopefully we'll get to see the rest of the eps they've made of Beware the Batman. Which, despite chasing trends in CG animation, was probably the best Batman tv show for me in a long time in just a short period of time. If people want the Joker rammed down their throats (don't think it would've helped the ratings...much), stick to the video games.

Man! Remember when YJ used to premiere on Friday nights?

Just imagine a Friday night DC Nation block of
TT GO! (still not a fan but it's nice to change things up)
Green Lantern, Young Justice, and Beware the Batman.
With the reruns airing Saturday and Sunday morning. :csad:
Impossible? Yes. Fun to think about? In a sad way.

I'm all for it. I loved all those shows, yes even Teen Titans Go!

It's really disheartening to see how quickly CN has given up on this show. I was just posting recently about how much potential this show had to become something truly special. Sadly we'll never get to see it blossom.

I could see this becoming something of a cult favorite for being such a short-lived, unique spin on the Batman mythos.

Total bummer though. I do wonder what this means for the future of animated Bat-shows.

I have to admit I wasn't a fan of the concept of this show when Brave and Bold ended and this was announced. But after giving it a chance I started to get into it. it's different to what we have seen before and I was interested in seeing where it was going. It's sad that CN haven't really given it a chance. Barely any quality cartoons on these days

Grrrr waiting for news and the remaining eps is not fun

To make this post more useful, for those that care about these award type things I came across this

Children’s Audience TV noms are Cartoon Networks’ “Adventure Time” and “Regular Show,” Nickelodeon’s “Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness” and “The Legend of Korra,” Warner Bros. Animation’s “Beware the Batman” and “Teen Titans Go,” Nelvana’s “Scaredy Squirrel” and Disney’s “Gravity Falls.”

And Kevin Smith (mostly) and Paul Dini talked about BTB on the latest 'Fatman on Batman' podcast.

Hmmm, interesting. As much as I'm really liking this show, I hope Gravity Falls takes it.

Also heard about the podcast. It'd be sad if this bias against girls was one of the factors that ended this show.

The writing is most definitely on the wall... but it's not like CN will issue a press release or anything. We just need to wait for one of two things.

A crew member either a) Confirming the cancellation or b) telling us that they are working on a new project.

The 2014-15 press release by CN. If it's not listed as a 'returning series' then it's done.

Its cancellation is a bummer. I've been catching up on the episodes and have enjoyed the show immensely.

That's disappointing to read. My brother would DVR the show so that's how I began watching it. I don't watch CN, but if they want to get rid of the show, why don't they just burn off the remaining episodes on a different timeslot?

To me the lack of enthusiasm among the creative team was prevalent at SDCC 2013.

That was one warning sign that this show was doomed to fail. That and/or they knew it was a dead duck.
