Black Panther The Official News and Speculation Thread - Part 1

How many black actresses would love to be a part of a major blockbuster franchise? A lot of them. We may be adding Lupita and others soon to this list of black actresses in the MCU:

- Rosario Dawson
- Zoe Saldana
- Alfrie Woodard
- Tessa Thompson
- Simone Missick

This film will increase the number of black actresses in the MCU. Something tells me that they are going to cast a familiar name black actress as Shuri if she's in the movie. I have long stated that there needs to more black women in the MCU. There are more Asians in the MCU then there have been black women. Ramonda will probably be played by an older Black actress, probably Angela Bassett.

Plus, Michael B. Jordan in the same movie universe as Samuel L. Jackson, Don Cheadle, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Anthony Mackie, Chadwick Boseman, Idris Elba and Mike Colter is just crazy.

Shuri and Monica Rambeau would give more black actresses opportunities to be in the MCU. There's a long list of black actresses who would love to play either role. They would love for a chance to be a part of a major blockbuster franchise, which Thompson is now a part of. Names like Nicole Beharie, Megan Good, Paula Patton, Taraji P. Henson, Gugu Mbatha Raw, Sanaa Lathan, Naomie Harris (although she technically does have a blockbuster franchise in the Bond films), Teyonah Parris among others would love to be a part of this I would think.

Yeah. I have a feeling some name will be cast that will be similar to Redford in TWS. Someone whose standing in Hollywood will make us all go "Wow! So and so is in a Black Panther film? Pinch me!"

It would be Denzel Washington, Morgan Freeman or even Oprah Winfrey. Oprah may not have the extensive film resume that Denzel or Morgan have but she's Oprah.

She's also not that great of an actress. She's not bad, but her range is VERY limited.

I don't know that many people would care about Morgan Freeman.

Denzel Washington would be a HUGE get, especially for what essentially be a supporting role. He's one of the few names in Hollywood that can draw audiences in on name alone.

Denzel would be the "wow" casting that this movie would have. I would think he'd play Moses Magnum in that case. It gives him a role of a villain and the choice of being a one and done character (if he chose to).

But if he decides to be a recurring character, the internet would explode the day he has a scene with SLJ in a future movie.

I still think that BP gives Marvel the opportunity to cast more black women in the MCU. As soon as the rumors of Monica Rambeau comes up in the MCU (and it hasn't yet), a bunch of names will pop up by every one of us.

Poitier is possibly the one actor who could up Denzel in the "They've got WHO in this movie?!?" factor.

Unfortunately Viola Davis is tied up in the DCU, because she would be a good get.

Denzel Washington would be fantastic.

I feel like Beharie could be Rambeau if they decide to use her.

It would be cool if Baharie got a role in Black Panther after the people running Sleepy Hollow treated her like garbage.

If they got Beharie as Chadwick's love interest for the BP solo film then personally I wouldn't have a problem with it but at the same time they were in a movie together previously in the 42 biopic but then again at the same time in 42 they did show that they had chemistry I am not even going to deny that and to see that same chemistry played out again this time in BP it would actually be great

Kerry Washington, Forrest Whitaker, David Oyelowo, Denzel, Angela Bassett, Dennis Haysbert, Nonso Anozie, etc are other possibilities.

Angela Bassett she is the fan's pick for Ramonda but for Shuri Lupita is the fan's pick but then again for Zuri...I just can't see Denzel in that role and why? Because the role would be too small for him that's why and Marvel I am sure if they were to get Denzel they would want him in a much bigger role

Dennis Haysbert as Zuri. Nonso Anozie as M'Baku.

Now Denzel I could see him in a villain role for Black Panther...I mean hey if Marvel could get Robert Redford of all people as a villain in the Captain America series then why not Denzel as a villain?

Now Peter Mensah he was my pick for T'Chaka but since he wasn't cast as T'Chaka I could see him as T'Challa's uncle S'yan if not Mensah then definitely Djimon Hounsou would be a close 2nd

They've both already played characters in the mcu...though Mensah's part was so small I wouldn't be shocked if he showed up again as someone else.

That's not necessary at all.

The most technologically advanced civilization in Earth will have its people more than familiar with the English language as evidenced by 3 Wakandans who spoke in CW.

Secondly, I get the feeling that some people aren't too familiar and have a limited understanding of the dynamics, especially when it comes to language in Africa of how it works. Places like Nigeria for instance has more than 500 languages! Yet, you'll find people there speaking English to one another or a simultaneous combination of English and whatever their respective language is. If you take a look at Nollywood movies you'll find more than enough of these films spoken entirely in English...so, it's not unreasonable to have the BP film have the cast speak English with African accents with some of the actual language spoken here and there. Hotel Rwanda did it, last king of Scotland did it, blood diamond did it and so did beasts of no nation. It's no big deal.

I think their questions were more in the realm of what in-movie reason would they give for these ppl speaking English in their own country and in the privacy of their own homes when they could be speaking Wakandan or Xhosa, assuming this is what we'll see, rather than are these ppl capable of speaking English. But you definitely made good points

I have suggested Moses Magnum for Denzel.

Denzel is the only person I can envision as John Stewart, so I'd rather someone else.

Denzel will be like 65 before Green Lantern starts filming. That ship has sailed

And Denzel is starting to show his age.

The MCU is now the 'Human Torch Rehabilitation Centers'?
