Black Panther The Official News and Speculation Thread - Part 6

He was referring to Bucky he said "You know if they find out hes here, they'll come for him". Cap is going to be on the move often but he knows Wakanda is a place he can come to if he needs to stay at a place for a while. Probably the safest place for him.

I know he was referring to Bucky, but it was implied that Cap wasn't sticking around

Is it possible T'Challa helped fund or give resources to the Avengers on the run?

You mean marvel comics. Both the comic creators and the Fox movies have done nothing with the black mutants. Fox for the most part hasn't been interested in any of the X-Men related characters but Wolverine and Magneto...plus Mystique once Jennifer Lawrence blew up. And now Deadpool thanks to the success of his first movie.

Or course, none of that necessarily has anything to do with how marvel studios would treat the neglected characters.

Yeah, I meant Marvel Comics.

I'd be surprised if he were/I don't really see it. He feels his debt is mainly to Bucky (who he wrongfully accused/was a victim whom he had tried to kill). Plus, secretly funding Team Cap could potentially lead a trail back to Wakanda and (again) the goal will be to keep Bucky in Wakanda a secret (for both Bucky's sake, and Wakanda's). Just as Cap wouldn't risk drawing attention to Wakanda by staying there, I don't think T'Challa would risk eyes falling on Wakanda by giving money to fugitives.

Again, just my take

There's also the fact that T'Challa wasn't exactly a fan of the Avengers going wherever they pleased, and they were still culpable for the deaths of Wakandan scientists.

I think some people are still making the mistake of viewing T'Challa through the lens of a Superhero rather than a head of state.

This makes me wonder something else—did Cap know about Wakanda’s technological advancement before dropping Bucky off, or did he learn about it then (or did TChalla arrange for Cap to only see a tiny portion of Wakanda, thus preserving the secret?)

I guess a question is just how secret is Wakanda’s status as a “technological marvel” (as Klaw calls it). Was it ever a secret in the comics, or is this just an MCU thing?

In AoU Tony and Steve seemed to have an idea of how advanced they are but Bruce never heard of it and in Civil War Nat seemed to know they’re advanced. However the Black Panther trailers and interviews indicate that the world thinks they’re a third-world country, a charade that Wakanda kept up for a long time and killed anyone that learned the truth.

In the comics Wakanda wasn’t known to the world at all until T’Challa fought the F4 until Hudlin’s run.

Nothing indicated they knew how advanced it was. What they knew was that it had vibranium. But even that was supposed to be all gone already ('Howard said he got the last of it', or something to that effect).

Quick question, do you guys think the Winter Olympics could potentially affect the B.O.? At least overseas?

Not much, WO is a rather small media event on most countries.

I hope they don't translate the title in Spanish too.

"Pantera Negra" sounds more like a wrestler name than a superhero one.

I still remember that the X-Men cartoon dub called Wolverine "Lobezno". Yep, wolf puppy.

I can't wait till promo goes into full effect. I'm hungry for some new details.

Seeing Shuri as well as his mother Ramonda it makes me wonder then if Angela Bassett her character of Ramonda will be in Infinity War? Or if she ends up dying too I mean his father T'Chaka died in Civil War I mean if his mother were to die too I mean it would make sense but then all he would have left would be his sister

Gosh I hope not—it’d be nice to have at least one violation of the ‘dead mother’ trope in comics. I’d love to see Ramonda in Infinity War, but if she’s not onscreen, her absence could be easily explained with a line about the Queen Mother going with the evacuees to help maintain order & make sure the evacuation is smooth.

Yeah I would hope Marvel doesn't kill Angela Bassett's character off but then again no one thought that they would kill off Thor's mother Frigga and they did in Thor The Dark World

I mean they have already killed T'Chaka so why wouldn't they kill off Ramonda too?

But I would actually want to see her live...if only to maintain order as far as the Wakandan throne goes

Especially with her son already becoming King and her being the Queen Mother and Shuri being princess of Wakanda you have yourself a set royal family

Ramonda was in the Infinity War Vanity Fair spread along with Shuri and Okoye. I think she's safe lol.

Has this Rhino-Thing already been dicussed?

Do you think its mechanical or a real rhino? I remember Fenris in one of the Lego-Sets for Ragnarok and he looked much like a mechanical wolf. Yet he turned out to be a "real" animal in the movie.
If the rhino is real, it would be the first use of african animals in the movie.
It would be kind of cool if it is some kind of mechanical/robotic rhino, that was invented be the Wakandians.

Because Ramonda is the most tenured of T'Challa's supporting cast. She's also his top adviser. Killing of Ramonda would be like killing off Alfred or Commissioner Gordon in the first film of a Batman trilogy.

Also if they stick with the comic book origins Ramonda wont be T'Challa birth mother, nor will she be a native Wakandan.

They didn't know how advanced Wakanda was in AOU. They just knew that was the source of vibranium. The only people that knew how advanced Wakanda was were Klaw and probably Ultron since he made it a point not to even try invading Wakanda to get vibranium.

It was briefly brought up earlier this year. A reporter mentioned the Rhino mechs once in an article, but nobody since then as mentioned it.

I'm willing to bet the Rhino is mechanical. In the comics Wakanda also had Panther mech's which almost resembled the lions from Voltron.

It makes me wonder just how big of a role will M'Baku have in BP? I mean if he is in this film and makes that transition into Infinity War then it makes me wonder just how big of a role will he have going forward?

It's kind of funny because that word ("negra", along with its masculine form) is a racist slur here in Italy... it's basically our equivalent of the N-word. It's so weird to see it on an official movie poster. There's absolutely no way you could get away with calling a black superhero "Pantera Negra" over here, lol.
