I agree. The race is most interesting with Hulme vs Bettany where half is going for Bettany and half going for Hulme.

If it's Gyllenhaal vs Hulme, everyone is going to go for Hulme.

If it's Law vs Hulme, everyone is going to go for Hulme.

Whats the point in watching a race when you know who's going to win?

I thought eccleston was the new conternder but it says that the person was named for another role in the sequel and ecclseston has only been mentioned for Joker!!!!!!

Has eccleston ever actually been mentioned for Joker though? I know he was in the running for Scarecrow, but I always thought he was just a fan favorite for Joker, but has never been mentioned for the part really.

Not me. As of now, i'm Bettany > Gyllenhaal > Hulme > Law (just counting those 4). Gyllenhaal would do well in the role if Bettany doens't get it.

Bettany out? That's the vibe I got when I read that. Looks like Hulme is in with a real chance now, and good for him, it will be HUGE news here in aussie land if Hulme nabs the part. As for this new guy I think it's Jake.

I love how people are ready to write off Bettany just because of rumor from BOF. Even if Jett's news is accurate - and Jett has a decent track record - he didn't name any names. And let's face it, Jett said a rumored "front runner" was now out, and he's usually referred to Hulme as the "front runner."

So there's no reason it couldn't be Hulme who's out, and not Bettany. Of course the whole story could be untrue, or it could be Bettany after all.

But I'm not ready to start assuming anything based on a piece of non-specific news. We'll get more details later. For right now, I'm gonna just wait and see.

Best post in this entire thread. Couldn't agree more. This is only a rumor.

LOL. Very true. Besides, polls here on the Hype! boards show that Bettany is favored over Hulme by 70% of Bat-fans (at least 70% of Bat-fans on the Hype). It would disappoint a LOT of people to lose Bettany at this point.

Why no way? I don't particularly want him as The Joker but he definitely reminds me of him. He's a well respected actor.

I'd love it to be Guy Pearce.

I really hope Bettany isn't out.

I would love Tim Roth to play The Joker but thats never gonna happen.

Joker update -- and I’m going to have to be a bit cryptic here, sorry. I got to protect our insiders, so this is the best I can do right now. Just read between the lines. Anyway, it seems that one of the so-called “frontrunners” for the part, may not be in the mix any longer. Perhaps the Bat-folks aren’t interested any longer, or maybe he simply doesn’t want the role…"

what about Robert Costanzo, I mean not only does he look the part, but the best part of it is that he provided the voice for Bullock in the animated series.
