You paid $4 for X-Men/ Spiderman 1? Mine was only 2.99, the usual comic price.

His must have had one of those 90's holo glow 3-D super deluxe covers.

I love those.

SuperMax wasn't a Skrull, all the continuity is in order. The special clearly takes place after SI and A:TI.

Very well. For some reason I recalled Supermax being a Skrull. There have been so many Skrulls that I forget exactly who was who if they were not major characters. Yes, it does appear the Special (or Annual #2) took place after SI. Clearly, the Skrulls lose and there is some measure of normalcy about the Marvel U. Shocking.

Dread, you wrote too much about the american way ripoff then it deserved.
Crap character, even crappier nemesis, bad writing, and where the american dream came off as poignant, this just feels like a made for t.v. special about racism which is really useless because it doesn't offer the reader anything.

I do agree that Grevioux wrote his point in a bit of a hammer-driving-in-nail sort of style, and sometimes bluntly. While I don't care for Anti-Man much, I am willing to wait another issue or so to learn more about Blue Marvel.

I still want to know how Anti-Man sees through a helmet with no eyeholes. Is he blind like Daredevil? Even HIS mask has eye-holes ;)

Blacksmith was the skrull on the desert stars.

Very well then. I hadn't checked the last issue before I typed the review. Which is why sometimes I wait a day or two before doing so. But I only had 5 comics and don't always feel like typing for long after work anymore, so I just wanted to bang 'em out. Thanks for the correction. :)

trauma mentions doc Samson being very busy, so did Samson just magically reappear since he has been missing since Hull 3?

It may be possible Trauma wasn't told specifics about where Doc Samson was and presumed he was "busy" instead of "missing". I could easily imagine the feds covering up the loss of a metahuman who is not only an authority on superhuman mental health, but has been on the short list to fight the Hulk whenever he rampages.

Just got back from Half Priced Books and picked up Justice League 0 anyway, so I'll read that and the first 3 issues soon. I also picked up the first issue of Umbrella Academy because I remember hearing good things about it. Sadly, it turned out to be a 2nd print and I hate 2nd prints... but I'll at least be able to read it and see if I want to try and find the rest of the series.

And for the fun of listing it...

I also got Marvel Vs. DC 1, and the last issue of the Reign of the Supermen storyline... because I just felt like it. :)

Umbrella Academy had a trade just recently of the first series.

I don't think he likes trades. I mean, if he's freaking out about a second edition I'm sure he wouldn't be down with the trades.

When catching up on series you've missed, they make life a lot easier.

Hell, if not for habit and impatience, they're the best deal for reading comics in general. Comic companies almost dare their audiences to rely exclusively on them since they have complete stories, no ads, and are cheaper in the long run. That would destroy the retailer industry, though. Got to love dancin' on the razor's edge, eh?

I do a little thing called binding, where I take my comics and bind them into my own hardback volumes how I like. That way the outside of all my 'hardback trades' match and have that old look to them and look nice on my shelf. I can bind trades but I prefer doing floppies so I have the first edition covers included. And yes, I know it destroys value, but I love it anyhow.

Oooo. How do you do that?

I take out the staples and remove any pages I don't want (typically back cover and pages with adds/letterpages on both sides). Then I put the comics in the order I want them. There is a place called Library Binding Company in Waco Texas that is the cheapest comic book binding place that I know of. I fill out their slip of how I want the book to look like (color, text on the side, as well as front cover text and die stamping if I wanted it... etc.) and send the comic books out. They do the job for me and then I pay the money for the binding and the return shipping and I get them back. Then I thumb through it, smile, and read it over and over again for years to come.

Honestly, without shipping it costs $15 per volume (provided it's under 2 inches thick and I do no extra bells and whistles) and I like them better than trades. Plus, I can put in what issues I like. Example... all those Spider-Man comics are every Spidey comic from every title he was in from around 1992 or so through Maximum Clonage of the Clone Saga. Spider-Man, Amazing Spider-Man, Spectacular Spider-Man, Web of Spider-Man, Annuals, Mini's, guest appearances in other titles like Ghost Rider and Darkhawk... etc. That's how I'd imagine my dream trade so that's how I made them. I plan on completing Spidey through the end of the Clone Saga and I'll be done with it. I may eventually go backwards, but that'll be in time.

I plan on doing Civil War here shorty and I'll be including all the stories I like in chronological order, not by issue, but by page. Example... I have the first issue of Civil War through the point when Nitro blows up the school. Then you turn the page and it's the page from the first issue of Wolverine where he's sitting in the bar with the blonde waitress an sees it on the tv and gets up to leave. Then you turn the page and it was some other immediate reaction from another comic, and then you turn the page and it's the clean up effort from Civil War 1. So it's all the tie-ins and such that I liked in readable order page by page. Major job to do, but I'm enjoying it like mad.

So....many....comics....RUINED!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Wow. You'd probably freak right the hell out if you saw how I keep my old comics. No bags, no boards, kept in old shoe boxes...

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I get that a lot. It's a good thing I don't collect comics for value but for story. I don't plan on selling them, so who cares what they're worth. Besides, it's better looking than a bunch of white board in bags on a shelf.

Though once I start binding higher priced things I may have to start using trades and reprints, as I won't spend that much money on something I'm cutting up.

Right on dude, i collect for the same reason, its gona be awesome like 10 years from now when i dig up my current collection and re-read all these classic stores. I should pay you to bind my comics for me lol.:yay:

I was a bit harsh on the Blue Marvel thing, but when they force some brand new character that has actually been around since 40 years ago, and was apparently the most powerful hero ever, without psychological scarring, I have high expectations...

Especially when it is going to deal with important social issues.

I think this guy can be great once he gets into the hands of very capable writers, but that can be said for almost any character.

On another note, anyone really enjoying the new Marvel Zombies?
The other ones I got bored with, but I love everything about the first 2 issues except Siege getting killed off right away!

I'll charge you the extra buck I paid for that Spidey/X-Men issue ;)
