Box Office Battle -- Thor Ragnarok vs. Justice League

Box Office battle between Thor 3 and Justice League, who wins

  • Thor

  • Justice League

Justice league could be positioned to have lower weekly drops since it releases after thor, giving it legs until star wars mid december. Thor will fall off after 2 weeks once JL releases. The opening weekend for JL will also likely be higher given previous comparable films. Mcu films are all opening to less than bvs's 180. The team up angle also gives them a big advantage. This is all assuming positive reception, God know what will happen if the reviews arent good...

Since when? When did Aquaman drop out of the A list? A specific year would be helpful.

Aquaman is a joke among the general public. His actual character and background aren't widely known. A-list is guys like Superman, Batman, and Spider-Man.

A-list guys are guys that are regularly in the list of the top DC heroes. And Aquaman is almost always in the top 10 of those lists.

And Wonder Woman and Flash are also A-List.

10 out of 10 Goldblums. Enough said. :cwink:

A B-list Marvel character against five A-list DC characters. If JL is halfway good it will destroy Thor.
How come Aquaman and Flash are "A-list DC characters" and Thor or Hulk(since you forgot the green rage monster for some reason) are "B-list Marvel characters". Come on you're just reaching. And you look at movie characters and general audience awareness Thor and Hulk have had 4 movies under their belt. Flash has a series and Aquaman is just a blip on the radar at this point.

Well that's not true. BvS opened to 166M.
1 - Avengers = 207M OW
2 - Avengers: Age of Ultron = 191M
3 - Captain America: Civil War = 179M
4 - Iron Man 3 = 174M

People seem to care more about Hulk and the Guardians than the current DCCU. Comics are dying, film is the primary super hero medium. Marvel is an oiled machine. Regardless of quality, the general public just cares about Marvel movies more. Thats just how it is.

Planet Hulk in a Thor movie will kill.

Wonder Woman was still the best movie I've seen this year though (not counting the lazy writing in the final battle and the sudden disrespect of.Ares who was the best character in the movie)

Bingo. We need to take it from the POV of the general public, not from comic fans.

Batman, Wonder Woman, Superman, Flash, Aquaman. If you don't even know the characters in Justice League how can you claim Thor will be superior?

Flash and Aquaman are not, and have never been, A-List. Flash has finally reached B-List courtesy of a ridiculously successful TV show, but that's about it.

Aquaman has never *been* in the A-List. The general audience knows him as a joke, or not at all. He's never had a movie, never had a live action TV show, and his longest running role on a cartoon ever was as a punchline.

Comic book readers are irrelevant, as are polls of comic book readers. What matters for whether a character is A-List is "What does the average random person on the street know and think of him?" Because for every person whose ever opened any comic book ever, there's about a hundred who haven't.

And the only thing the average person knows about Hulk is the Bill Bixby TV show back in the 1970s. And Thor has never had a TV show. Just a couple of poorly performing movies. If Hulk and Thor are A-List, so is Flash.

So are we talking about Thor or Aquaman? Because that would apply equally. If anything more random people have heard of Aquaman. And of the ones that know the name Thor, most would thing of the Norse god, not a comic book character.

Between Thor and Aquaman, one of them was in two billion dollar movies.

After the trailers, I'd be very surprised if Thor isn't the winner at the Box Office.

Now I'm just wondering who would win in a fight:

Thor, Valkyrie, Loki and Hulk vs Wonder Woman, Flash, Cyborg and Aquaman.

Ww would beat val narrowly
Loki would take out flash with ease using trickery
And Thor and Hulk would absolutely dominate cyborg and Aquaman
Leaving thor hulk and loki to easily defeat the solo WW
Imho :oldrazz:

Exactly. Prior to the MCU, Thor and Hulk *weren't* A-List, either. Hulk was B-list, thanks to the well-remembered Bixby TV show. Thor wasn't even that.

*Now* they are, if not A-List at least close to it. But that's because Marvel Studios has completely upended everything, and makes obscuros like the Guardians of the Galaxy more successful and higher profile than anything DC has outside the Big Three.

Sounds about right. I mean, superspeed is a game breaker, but this Flash seems fairly inexperienced, and all his opposition are varyingly high end bricks. That said, I'm not sure WW would beat Valkyrie *narrowly*. Her best bet is to fight as defensively as possible so as to expend as much time as possible. Optimum outcome: Val only falls to Diana after the others have won their fights.

You can thank RDJ/Iron Man for that. All of MCU's bilion dollar films involve him. As soon as he leaves or hangs up the suit then the MCU won't touch a billion again.

Also Flash, Hulk and Thor are definitely A-listers. Aquaman is too but his repuatation was a joke, at least until recently with Momoa. After his movie no one will he making Aquaman jokes anymore!

If you say so bub.

I think after Justice League no one will consider Aquaman a joke either. Especially now that he has send the bright orange and green togs to Davy Jone's locker.

I keep going back and forth. I think JL has an ideal date for the first weekend but Thor might have longer legs based on the hype surrounding that trailer. Man it's going to be close no matter what.
