It's going to need at least $250 million worldwide to be considered a success with its $120 million budet. Making $125 million domestic seems a long shot right now. To early to see how the foreign box office will do and if it can cover any short falls in the domestic box office. This is where DD failed. It made less than $80 million overseas.

Yea but dont forget about DVD sales, they can single handedly save a franchise, point in case, The Punisher. We will see another Punisher(well supposedly) because the DVD sold so well.

Weekend estimates are in. Updates below. $ 19.7 million. A 56.6% drop.

Not surprising numbers, IMO.

No one wants to see Jim Carey in dramatic roles. That's been an ongoing joke from the 90's. Ghost Rider's continuing success could spell some hurt of the upcoming 300.

If SONY is smart (I'm assuming they are) they'll do more spots and ads running their #1 Box Office Smash hit!

I personally did not like the movie but the FX is what's drawing the crowds in droves. SONY's FX were brilliant and is exactly what is saving this movie.

I expect DVD Sales to be very high and SONY will again make a nice mint on this film. Then with Spidey just around the corner you can expect even more money from this studio.

No. Not suprising. Right where I thought it would be. Between 18 and 20. 19.7 looks a lot better then the 18.5 one site estimated.

Carp you freak. The estimates are above. That's the 5th time you say estimates below ignoring the post above you. I'm calling the cops on you. :whatever:

No way GR is #1 next week against Zodiak even though it's rated R. If GR beats Zodiak it would be shocking. I see Zodiak making 20-25 million over 3 days. GR should make 10-12 million over 3 days. No chance.

At this point anything can happen with Ghost Rider.

I didn't even know Zodiak was coming out this upcoming weekend. I definitely will be watching that. It's a rated R picture I believe so again anything is possible and give Ghost Rider another week at number 1.

:oldrazz: Just keep those updated overseas #'s comming, so I can add them to my totals. And remember, it is not who gets it 1st, but who gets it right. :oldrazz:

Second week at number one and a nice figure too. Looks like it will hit 100 million domestic by next week.Very good imo.

It needs 21.3 million over next 7 days to reach it. I am guessing about 8 million Monday thru Thursday, that would leave 13.3 million Friday thru Sunday. It's possible. It will be close. If not by Monday, then deff by the time Mondays, and mabey Tuesdays totals are figured in.

$19.7 million / $78.6 million total (domestic)

I'd say so far, so good! I really couldn't believe that it was #1 this weekend again, though I guess word of mouth is starting to get around. Even with all these new movies (Number 23, Reno 911, Astronaut Farmer)

Let´s not get overly excited. The result is just alright, and none of these new movies generated much interest anyway. Next weekend with Zodiac is a different story.

Yeah, Zodiak will do harm, no doubt. I'm really lookin' forward to that one myself. Huge Fincher fan here.

118 Million Worldwide!!!

Matched it's budget.

Now do it again! :)

Ghost Rider #1 again...OVERSEAS/International!!!

Overseas cycle to 'Rider'
Sony pic rolls to second straight win

By DAVE MCNARY

"Ghost Rider" rolled to a second straight international victory, easily topping a moderate frame at the foreign box office with $16.1 million at 3,000 playdates in 40 markets.
Amid respectable openings and holdovers and a lack of competing action fare, Sony's "Rider" grossed nearly the combined total of the closest contenders, Fox's "Night at the Museum" and U's Brit comedy "Hot Fuzz."

"Ghost Rider" made the biggest splash with launches in France, with $3 million at 426 through local distrib SND, and in Germany, with a first-place $2.2 million at 363. Soph seshes saw declines of 51% in Spain to $1.5 million at 417 -- still enough for first -- along with 38% in Mexico to $1.3 million at 403 and 46% in Australia to $1 million at 208. Actioner also opened in first place in India with $820,000 at 250 for the 12th biggest launch in that market for a Hollywood pic. Nicolas Cage starrer has lived up to expectations internationally, cuming $39.4 million overseas and $118 million worldwide with openings coming next weekend in Japan and the U.K.
See Details in link above. :)

$ 39.4 overseas boxoffice has been added to domestic. Updates below.

^ Haha nice try. Mr. Edit LOL

Edit: Wait it doesn't say you edited it. I looked at that 3 times. Holy **** I am blind WTF? I triple checked that before I posted it. :(

Well...it looks like Marvel is on top of the world right now. With the kinda year it's properties are going to deliver...Iron Man and Hulk will be 2 REALLY anticipated movies for 2008 (Louis needs to get to freaking casting!) Ghost Rider is delivering some VERY nice numbers, espcially the Friday-Saturday jumps. The Sunday estimate is probably low, since it would be less then Daredevil's, when Ghost Rider has beaten that movie everyday since launch. Ghost Rider 2 will probably be announced this summer for a summer launch...maybe 2009, and Sony will probably pony up another 30-40 million in budget for a splashier delivery. My gut tells me that Sony will be watching Fantastic Four's numbers VERY closely to see how that sequel does...to gauge the full level of commiment for Ghost Rider 2.

What really kicked me in the balls about this was that critics and fanboyz expected a movie called GHOST RIDER to be some bloated epic scale film of biblical proportions.

Think about it. Ghost. Rider.

That's a Saturday Matinee Serial.

True.I also think that viewers had a different idea of the movie, and some were turned off by what they saw.Its like expecting something, and getting something different in return.I think its average.

The biggest problem with Feb releases are the weekday totals. This is a film for younger people as they comprise the bulk of the audience, and a large portion of them are in school Mon-Fri. In the Summer that's not the case so the weekday totals are higher. They needed this timeframe to build up Ghost Rider's awareness. Now if they go for a Summer release...it just might work...or a winter Holiday releaes to "heat" things up.

ABC radio just reported Ghost Rider is #1 for the 2nd weekend in a row, bringing in another 22 million and out-grossing The Number 23 by 4 million.

^ 22 million? And it's saying 23 made 18 million then? Something isn't right there? If it's true I'll take it though. :) That doesn't seem right.
