Another 2.6 million for Ghost Rider on Tuesday per showbiz data.

NOW OVER 70 MILLION WORLDWIDE. :)

Awesome. Just awesome.

I do have a question though; why the heck does Boxofficemojo still have Goyer as the writer?

It has 16 days till 300 opens. Average of 3 million per day would give it another 48 million. That would put it a tad below DD #'s. So It should beat DD, unless something unforseen happens.
I don't know why everyone is so pumped to see 300. That movie is going to bomb! It'd be lucky to make $50 million! It looks ok but it looks like a history lesson and those movies tend to not do that well. :o

^ FH didn't they take some aspects of Goyer's script or is it 100% MSJ's? I thought I heard Goyer had a little bit in on this one.

300 looks visually stunning but it's hard to tell cause it's like every scene is a pose of someone on roids or something in slo-mo. I'll probably go see it but no rush on opening day for me.

300 is basically the comic book panel for panel. It's not meant to be a grounded in realism take of the book, they basically took literal pieces from it and placed it in live action.

I remember reading an interview with Goyer in which he was pissed that GR was not getting a Hard R rating and wasnt all too happy that it was going PG 13 and the entire story was taken out.

Only elements of the movie made it in the movie:

GR getting rammed by a truck
Jailhouse scene
Southwest Vibe
Attacks on GR would manifest on the host after he transformed back
Blue Flames to show somber emotions

I'm sure there were some more elements in there, but I dont remember which ones. In Goyer's script, he killed almost all the baddies, burned them to a crisp. His hands were also so hot that when he was hit by the truck, he ripped the trucks front to pieces to get to the driver, after which he charred one of them.

His version of the penance stare was different also. When he gave it to a baddie, they would both see the sins, and would both scream together and it showed how GR is cursed to feel their pain as well.

GR never really talked either in his script, and was not just a monster, but a horrific force of nature that had no humor in it at all.

Your nuts man, 300 is gonna be a blockbuster. I dont know anybody who doesnt want to see it. Its gonna be shown to all football teams before they go out to the field, its gonna be shown to US soldiers, its gonna be a huge hit overseas as well in Europe.

This movie has blockbuster written all over it. Im guessing 200 Mil + gross worldwide for this flick, and thats a conservative estimate.

I dont know what to say to you then, but Im 100% sure this will be a blockbuster.

I agree with midnyte, 300 looks awesome. I'm looking forward to it next now that ghost rider is out.

I'll be honest...I pretty much never watch tv, so I miss all the commercials and hype..but i did see a brief clip of 300 and it looked fake. I didnt like the look of the actor in the lead role, and it looked like The Matrix to me, just back in the day. Maybe i was expecting a more realistic movie? i dont know...

I'm still going to go see it though because I go to every comic book movie whether I want to see it or not.

I called 30 to 40 million opening.

Undershot.

When do my beatings begin?

I think 300 will open 30-35 million on first weekend. That's being generous I think even with great reviews. It doesn't appeal to "as" broad of an audience as GR. That's not a bad thing...it's just a different flick.

I wouldn't go to see it expecting realism if I were you. You don't have to watch tv to see the clips/trailers etc its all online.

^ Like I said before 300 looks like a bunch of pre-staged poses and roid monsters in slow-mo. I'm gonna see it be in opening weekend or the weekend after that. I loved Sin City but this doesn't look near as cool as that film. Looks ok.

It looks ok but it looks like a history lesson.
Actually it looks like a history lesson on crack... and I mean that in a good way.

I think it'll do Sin City level numbers domestically ($ 70-75 mil), but has the capacity to do better internationally. I think it'll do $ 180-200 milion worldwide, which would make it a great success given that the production budget is only $ 60 million.

You're being very generous. You are on the money with the domestic b.o. but worldwide I'm thinking $130 million max. It doesn't have that feel to it that makes it a success. When I saw the commercials for Ghost Rider, it looked so awesome, I didn't care what the critics said(like I listen to them  )i wanted to see it asap. But 300 looks so...........average. If it makes $80 million domestic, then I'd be shocked! :o

Well, it's got AWESOME REVIEWS from those Pre-release screenings from professional critics and the guy off the street. Obviously, the people and studio who made this movie are not indimidated of it being screened before release. Unlike some other films.

And "History Lessons" movies not doing that well? Um, yeah... show me numbers.

I don't remember hearing anything about GR being screened and after seeing this disappointing mess I'm not suprised. For all of you who still think Avi Arad is the man please explain to me how the following project is a great idea for a film.

Avi is the man. Period. Get a clue. Just because YOU didn't like Daredevil doesn't mean he's not 100% responsible for us seeing every comic adaption on screen since 1998's Blade direclty and indirectly. He was the spark that revivied the genre. There are hit's and misses but 11 out of 13 #1 opening films. If you didn't like a film it's not a reflection of his major contributions to this genre. I was at an early screening BTW.

Preach!

I never said the movie wasn't good, I said it wouldn't do good. And who listens to critics to decide if a movie is good? Only a person with low self esteem will allow someone else's opinion to determine if they'd see a movie or not. GR is being bashed left and right but its still doin ok. Babel and Blood diamond got good reviews but were disappointments. The list goes on.

What's so impressive about 11 out of 13 #1 opening films if half of these movies suck? It's also, nice to see that you didn't even address the controversy of the link I posted. I've got to go to work now so have a nice day.:oldrazz:

Sucked to who? Nobody cares about your individual opinion as far as gauging on whether a film is good or not to everyone else. Actually most people like most of Marvel films, it's the minority that doesn't. Half suck?

Controversy? Please. So you're saying because Avi is gonna produce a Bratz pick that it erases everything else he's done to turn Marvel from a bankrupt company in huge debt to one of the top 3 licensing powerhouses on the planet resurging an entire genre? Blow off.
