I seriously think people are underrating how well The Simpsons Movie will do... everyone knows and loves them.

I think Spider-man 3, POTC3, and Shrek 3 will all obviously be in the top three. I imagine Simpsons do extremely well too. Don't see why people are counting that out. The rest is really up in the air at this point.

If The Simpsons movie had been made 5-8 years ago, it would have been a huge contender. But now, The Simpsons just aren't in demand like they used to be.

Spidey 3 wins 2007.

The Simpsons are possibly the most recognizeable pop culture icons there are. If the movie is atleast decent, I think it has one hell of a chance at being top contender.

Yeah the Simpsons will be enormous - there is no way that this will not be the case. Spider man will do well as well obviously
As for the rest - well probably Shrek over Pheonix

I wouldn't count out Eragon - although released in 2006 it will probably still be going strong in the New Year. I'd love it to do well. About time we saw something that wasn't a sequel and get a whole new bunch of characters. It could be anything but I Eragon seems to have the most potential

Harry Potter should win the WW Box Office but in terms of domestic, I'm pulling for Spiderman 3 but wouldn't be surprised if Shrek 3 or Pirates pulls ahead.

However the month of May and June will be interested to watch because I can't honestly see as much repeat business with so many highly anticipated movies being crammed into next summer.

Movies rarely make it past 2 weeks let alone 3 weeks at the box office and with the speed that they come to dvd nowadays, they seem to spit out these movies one right after another.

Worldwide I think POTC will be the winner and I think the next Harry Potter will have the weakest performance of all HP-movies so far, even if it most likely still will make a huge amount of money. But with a summer as crowded as this I think Warner should release it in the more usual November-spot.

Harry Potter releases vary 15 to 18 months so it between summer and winter releases.

Spidey 3 will be #1 in domestic top with $391m and $140m opening weekend.

But I see Harry Potter 5 as the winner in overseas and worldwide.

I love Spider-Man like no other but his third outting aint gonna be the top grossing film of 07. I would love for that to happen but it won't. I've decided to wait to see Dead Man's Chest DVD sales before I predict the summer of 07. If it sales over 13 million copies (I'm expecting 10mil) I'm going with it easy. If not Shrek 3 by a hair. Harry Potter 8000 has no chance of winning in the U.S market.

Funny, Spidey 3 is 1st summer blockbuster of next year and it has 2 weeks (including the most huge fanbase comparing with Shrek and POTC) to get so high numbers to have good legs..

But what about Shrek 3, it has POTC3 as very close competitor (there is only one week between them both). So I see them eating each other till bigger shark will win.

Still, Spidey 3 looks like the biggest shark of May.

Titanic will never be beaten for box office takings ... it was a unique event movie that was making serious money FIVE months after its release.

I know many people who NEVER go to the cinema but they all saw Titanic .... it had mass appeal across all age groups.

In the years since some MASSIVE movies have been released (Episode 3, ROTK, Spidey 2, POTC 2) ... none have come close.

It will not happen ... Titanic will always be number 1 for money.

Exactly. Titanic sold roughly around 128,3 million tickets. Compare that with the next three biggest movies in past 15 years:

Jurassic Park: 86,2 million tickets
Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace: 84,2 million
Forrest Gump: 78,5 million
