Exactly. Titanic sold roughly around 128,3 million tickets. Compare that with the next three biggest movies in past 15 years:

Jurassic Park: 86,2 million tickets
Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace: 84,2 million
Forrest Gump: 78,5 million

Actually with inflation, domestically, Titanic is 6th behind Gone with the Wind, Star Wars, Sound of Music, ET and Ten Commandments.

Woldwide it's 4th behind Gone with the Wind, Star Wars and Snow White.

I love how people let their love for Spidey get in the way of well thought out predictions.

Um and Shrek 2 sold a huge amount of DVD's and far more than Spider-Man 2. Animated movies always sell more than even the biggest live action film. Thats why Cars is going to outsale Pirates 2.

Actually I heard that DVD sales were less than anticipated.

DreamWorks Animation (DWA, news, msgs) warned last month that DVD sales of "Shrek 2" -- the most successful animated film of all time -- weren't meeting expectations. The company Monday outlined just how much that sales slump hurt, slashing second-quarter and full-year guidance and shelving plans for a $500 million secondary stock offering.

But yes children's movies will always outsell any other movie.

Acorrding to lees movie info.http://www.leesmovieinfo.net/Video-Sales.php?y=2004&type=3 it sold 18.2mil compared to Spidey 2's 9.9mil. And for the record Pirates 1 sold 13.3million copies. Great Dvd's sales for all but clearly, even if it did less than expected, Shrek 2 did huge numbers.

How so? Dead Man's Chest made 421.6mil and counting. But I do agree that Spidey doesn't have chance in hell of grossing more than Shrek 3 or Pirates 3 outside of the U.S.

POTC2 made so much, because there was no another huge movie blockbuster, which had 1st movie very successful.

Yeah, it doesn't. But still, Spidey 3 is the biggest shark of next summer (domesticly).

Sony started huge promotion in the spring, which DreamWorks and Disney will start it only next month.

Also, every new SPidey 3 trailer gets one of the highest hype levels.

As I said before, Sony is very samrt with looking good release dates for their movies. That's happened with Spidey 3.

No movie gets to 430 million by kids alone, Shrek has a very widespread fanbase, which is why I give it the nod for 2007.

Exactly. Everyone who says Shrek 3 will win is hoping for a very good trailer... We know everyone is looking forward to Spiderman 3, and the way DMC ended everyone is clearly looking forward to AWE.

Well its hard to tell without seeing the trailers and its hard to tell which movie will have legs until people start seeing the film, and we get some reactions. However, POTC3 is going to be very action packed and hello its Jack Sparrow.

400+ box offices aren't made in the first two weeks, they're made in the following 2 months, so while this 2 week hole for Sm3 will be nice, it's back-end will be it's true test, and with Shrek 3 and POTC 3, it will be a good test.
