Arrow Brandon Routh IS Ray Palmer/The Atom

I don't know, it still seems possible to me they'll bring in the shrinking. Why else make a point of mentioning the white dwarf star matter as the power source for the suit? I'm thinking the shrinking will be an un-intended side effect, which is why it hasn't been mentioned yet.

Word. The suit hasn't even been active a full minute of screen time.

Wait, they mentioned White Dwarf Star matter? In this last episode? Which scene?

They mentioned it way back when. Felicity and Ray went to dinner with rich people. They were negotiating on Ray getting White Dwarf Star matter.

Lol @ Gustin in that first picture, how do you even get your face to do that lol

To say I was disappointed that Atom was Iron Man rather than shrinking is the understatement of the year.

What's up with CW? Firestorm doesn't use molecular reconstruction and Atom doesn't shrink. It's a miracle Flash runs fast and Arrow has a bow.

But if he weren't an an archer, Ollie could just say he has more than one string to his bow.

Eh, be fair. Firestorm may not have used any transmutation ( yet ), but his origin and technobabble involve a lot of talk of molecular begoobery. They haven't completely ignored that aspect, they just haven't used it as an active power ( yet ). As for Atom, remember: originally, that was supposed to be Ted Kord. Its not the best outcome, but it wasn't intentional.

Let's hope we see the ACTUAL PROPER powers down the line.

Both of them have been active for 5 minutes at the end of one episode. Chill. You know how Barry wasn't running on water, running up walls, and cancelling out tornadoes as soon as he got struck by lightning? Or how Oliver was straight up snapping necks, murdering people, not working with anyone and not going by a name? Like that. They've planted seeds for both transmutation and shrinking. They have 46+ episodes a year. If everyone was in their prime as soon as they showed up, the shows would have nowhere to go. You can either start at the beginning and build to the ideal version or start at the ideal version and build away from it.

I think we may see Firestorm's other powers and Atom shrinking at some point. Only Oliver could really be considered a veteran hero at this point. Flash, Firestorm and Atom are more or less starting out.

I have no doubt that Atom will shrink and Firestorm's powers will be expanded.

If he does shrink on this show, it'll probably because Oliver wanted to find a way to disrupt his love life with Felicity, thus he ends up finding a way to shrink Ray.lol..... Or at least, that's what some Olicity Shippers are hoping for.haha

Meanwhile, Oliver learns about Ray’s new Atom costume and the two have a heated stand-off.

episode 17 epoilers oh boy.

Has the dwarf star matter been added to his suit? Maybe that's why he's going to Flash. To "install" it.

As great as that suit looks, I still can't buy it as being practical in a hand-to-hand fight. It really makes me wonder what exactly is Ray's plan now that he has it.

I don't really remember seeing Iron Man do anything other than fly, lift heavy things or shoot projectiles with his suit.

Yeah, I don't think Ray had practical "hand-to-hand" fighting in mind, when he created the suit.

I'm assuming that he (naively) thought that by wearing some body armor and possessing the ability to shoot out lasers from his hands, it would give him an edge when out in the field.

The problem is though, on a realistic basis, in order to fully compensate for his inability to fight, let alone to move around as a proficient fighter in that armor, his WHOLE body would need to be covered up like Iron Man's suit...but it isn't.

A good sharp shooter or a barrage of gunfire would easily get him wounded in his blind spots.

He is super strong there is that, he'll only need one hit.

I can buy the suit being bullet proof. . . but that doesn't really excuse the uncovered mouth. If he just covered the whole mouth, he'd be fine.

The more I see him, the less Routh makes me think of Superman. He reminds me more of a more muscular Ted Mosby.
