Breaking Bad - Part 14

They have stiff competition in True Detective.
Yeah, I think the awards will likely be split between the two, but I think BB will take the big one. The one I'm not sure about is Cranston vs. McConaughey.

It still bugs me that True Detective is going against Breaking Bad to begin with. TD should have been in the miniseries category.

Yeah, I mean, the title might be an ongoing one, but the story was closed-ended, Woody and McConaughey aren't coming back, who knows if the director will even be in on S2, the list goes on... it just reeks of HBO trying to show everyone how big their d*** is and, as much as I loved the show, I kind of want it to blow up in the network's face.

Do we even know if it was the network's decision? I don't really know how it works. I assumed the organizers decided what went where.

I wonder which what episode he's getting nominated for too. It could be any of the final 8 episodes.

The network submits stuff for Emmy consideration.

I know, but do they actually control what category the things they submit go to? I just always assumed that whoever was in charge made those decisions.

The thing with BB is that it almost feels like the show ended 5 years ago at this point, while TD is still fresh and new. Films that want to compete in the oscars are usually released in the fall vs earlier in the year just so they seem fresher to those voting.

I can see mcconaughey beating out cranston for best actor in a series, which is a bit of shame since that was arguably Bryan's best year. Although Matthew was amazing himself, so yeah i'm torn.

I think that season 4 finale is what really put Breaking Bad up there as one of the greatest tv shows ever

I feel like last year was the big BrBa Emmy party, and anything they win this time is kinda...whatever. Cranston, Paul, Gunn, and Gilligan all have theirs. If they wanna go further, give Gilligan one for writing or directing and one for cinematography as a recognition for the entire series and that's that.

This is Spooge's year. I just know it.

Well, we know what show won't be getting an Emmy…. 'Dexter'! Amirite, gang? :o

Yes. They send it under any category and it's considered until that category, much like the Oscars.

And that's one thing Breaking Bad is gonna have going against it is that it was released a year ago when the voting starts with no new season to keep voters in mind.
