Breaking Bad - Part 14

I'm not certain that BB is guaranteed any kind of win if they get nods for season 5.2. If it had been winning consistently over the years, maybe I'd call it a guarantee, but I think it could be a 'it's due has been had' since it swept last year. Very few shows get that kind of back-to-back recognition (The Sopranos and Mad Men are really the only two I can think of off the top of my head) and while it's sort of the cool thing to call BB the greatest thing on Earth now, that attitude may not be as in vogue come Emmy time. I'm more than satisfied with the fact that it got a lot of awards, plus great ratings for it's finale. It'll be cool to get post-finish awards, but I won't be disappointed if it doesn't

So if Aaron Paul is returning in Better Call Saul, who wants to bet it'll be in a post BrBa capacity? I do NOT want to see a prequel that takes place during Breaking Bad's timeline. That makes no sense to me.

I'd love a two timeline show. Prequel series with Saul being a lawyer and a post Felina show where Jesse tracks him down and they go on adventures. Like Lost, with the flashbacks. They can even work in Brock. The first episode could have the two on the run, Brock asks Jesse what they should do next and Jesse is all "better call Saul" BAM into the opening credits!

This sounds horrible. I don't see how a prequel makes any less sense than this convoluted thing you just posted.

What in the **** did I just read? You're kidding right?

So True Detective would go under miniseries? Ah, right. I want to see both shows get the awards they deserve because they were both utterly incredible. No one thought this show would rival Breaking Bad, especially so soon, so it'll be interesting to see which shows blow us away later this year.

True Detective has taken over the reigns of my close favourite show after Breaking Bad.

I believe it would fall under the miniseries category. If "American Horror Story" and "Downton Abbey" are qualified as miniseries, then surely "True Detective" could be too.

I think it does fall under miniseries. Still, BB and TD are perhaps two of the finest pieces of television that I've ever seen and deserve any amount of praise they get.

As a stand alone season TD was phenomenal but it's still apples and oranges at this point to fully compare it to BB and its 5 seasons.

We have to see how TD comes back next season to get a better idea, when comapring them fully show to show.

Well let's see, when exactly would Jesse be showing up and hanging out with Saul in a prequel? In that episode Ozymandias in that flashback scene, he looked so much more older than in the real pilot episode. You guys want to see this guy who is visibly older continue to play a young kid? When would these scenes take place? In between season 2 and 3? No that can't possibly happen, Jesse is in rehab. Between season 3 and 4 when Jesse sits outside in the car? Within the two weeks of season 4? Or during season 5 when he's bugging out over everything?

Are you guys the type of people who care nothing about continuity just to salivate at seeing these characters again no matter how ridiculous it would be? I can picture a Breaking Bad Wikipedia page, filling in the blanks. A few pictures of Saul and Jesse in season 2, a new picture of Saul and Jesse from "Better Call Saul" looking much older, then back to some Breaking Bad season 3 shots of them looking younger! Hey doesn't matter right as long as that ending with Jesse remains intact? And what kind of ending is that exactly? Jesse drives away and Jesus guides him to safety? His prints everywhere, the police looking for him, no money, a stolen car of another dead suspect...yeah he'll make it to Alaska just fine. :whatever:

Here's what Odenkirk said:
Though the initial press release pitted the future AMC series as a prequel, Odenkirk tells Business Insider he’d love for the show to be both a prequel and a sequel.
“I’ll tell you, and I’ve told the guys, I want to see both,” says Odenkirk. “I’d like to see what happens before and what happens after. I don’t know what they’ll do with that … but that’s what I’d like to see.”

And then out come stories about Aaron Paul signing on. Signing on is more than a cameo is it not? Or is there going to be a whole missing month or two that was hidden from the series where old Jesse from the future time travels back and talks to Saul? Great idea! Yes Better Call Saul with one of those time travel phones from South Park

And ykno if that's the case where Jesse has Benjamin Button disease then that's cool too. I can't take it seriously as it smells like a desperate way to appease fans. Young Jesse Pinkman before he met Saul, on the same show as Saul? Unless it's in a small cameo in the background in an episode, it sounds like ****. Maybe the scene I described would be cheesy and stupid, and I obviously wouldn't want to see him show up immediately. But if the show does what Odenkirk wants , the prequel and sequel thing, I'd rather down the road see Jesse show up at the "cinnabon" where Saul lives his new life than some fake forced "deleted scene" type thing.

I may be wrong, but was it not said at one point that Jesse had dealings with Saul before the events of Breaking Bad? Honestly, what is all this rambling you're doing? Just because this is the Breaking Bad thread doesn't mean you should post on meth, man.

Sorry I'm not really on any other forum and never posted here much. Plus everyone was so quick to shoot down my idea, I had to kind of explain why having him in a prequel makes no sense to me. Also it's not meth, just a large coffee at work.

I don't think they met before the better call saul episode. Jesse knew of him, but Saul didn't recognize him during the hold up. And Jesse didn't even want to enter his office.

Okay, well, you may be right then about them not knowing each other then. I thought it was mentioned he'd dealt with Saul in the past, but it's been a long time since I've watched those first seasons.

Anyone remember the Colombian remake of BrBa, Metastasis? It has a 6 minute trailer on youtube now. I can't link to it because of language but if you type Metastasis in the search tab it's the first video that comes up.

It really is practically a shot-for-shot remake of the original. I wonder if future seasons will deviate.

Ha, they did a pretty good job at the scenes. They are shot for shot, basically.

Have they started airing the episodes for the remake? I would love to see it and relive Breaking Bad all over again...in Spanish.

I'm a little late since I missed season 5b when it was airing as I had just started watching season 1 around that time but I finally got to see it on Netflix. Wow. Those last few episodes were amazing.

semi related but aaron paul was so good in need for speed :D
really excited to see him in movies post breaking bad, i think he is gonna be getting alot more big screen exposure in the near future

For Better Call Saul I'll be angry if the opening isn't a meth cooking-like montage of Saul preparing a batch of CinnaBons in Nebraska before flashing back.
