Breaking Bad - Part 8

Wow, people took that much convincing that Walt poisoned Brock? I knew it immediately when they showed the Lily of the Valley in his yard, and then it's even further confirmed if you re-watch that season and notice that the "spin the gun" scene when Walt's sitting outside ends after he spins the gun and it points directly at the f***ing Lily of the Valley. That's clearly when he got the idea. It was definitely Walt. I can't believe people fought such an awesome moment so hard; I nearly fell out of my chair and then ran around my apartment going, "OOOOOOOH SNAAAAAAP" and waving my arms like a crazy person after I realized what the Lily of the Valley in his yard meant. It's such a character-defining moment for Walt.

Also, I think the bear symbolizes both Walt and Gus. Think about it: at first it's Gus, who dies with half his face blown off, just like the bear (sides don't really matter to the symbolism to me). But then, as Mike implied, Walt thinks that "killing Jesse James" made him the new Jesse James. Plus, on the day that the planes crash, Walt is wearing pink for the first (and I think the only) time in the whole series. There's definitely a relationship between him and the bear.

Also, I think the bear's missing eye is basically Walt's conscience. It kept popping up at times that Walt would logically be feeling guilty or know he's doing something bad, but he couldn't quite get rid of it until later on, after the last vestiges of his decency had fallen away.

I never doubted for one second that Walt was behind the poisoning. Even the first time I watched that episode I noticed Huell grab the cigarettes from Jesse's pocket.

I actually never noticed that. I just took the show's word for it. Even when I've re-watched the series, which I've done about 3 times now, I always forget to keep an eye on Huell in that scene and I'm too into what's going on by then to go back and watch it again.

Gives new meaning to the phrase "A Picture Is Worth A Thousands Words."

This has to mean something other than Walt is the bad guy. Does it mean he's concealing something for Skyler, that we don't even know about? She is in the light, he is in the dark.

Can't wait for these last coming episodes and then going back and rewatching these kinda moments.

Can't believe we're almost halfway through this final batch. :csad:

Is that image above intended to be ironic or something. Walter is reassuring her everything will be okay but something dangerous is coming because of him, hence him be draped in shadow.

Wasn't it pretty much confirmed the beginning of the season when Walt cleaned up his bomb making supplies and also grabbed the Lily of the Valley

It's been implied in a number of ways. Enough so that it's pretty much ironclad.

It was confirmed at the end of season 4. What I'm saying is that throughout the last few episodes of season 4 I didn't doubt for a second that Walt was just trying to get Jesse back on his side by framing Gus.

I was actually with those who didn't think Walt poisoned Brock prior to the season 4 finale. I didn't think he would go that far, that he would cross that threshold. I was glad to be wrong honestly because it was a huge surprise when the camera zoomed in to the Lily of the Valley plant in the last shot. It made sense given the circumstances and Walt's rapidly degrading morality that he would do that. It was actually a pretty ingenious plan on Walt's part, despite how diabolical it was.

i still cant believe that some people couldnt understand what was going on in jesse's head when he realized that saul and huell played him again..switched his "dope"...

looks like for some people the highlight was the half blown away face of gus fring in the season 4 final and they didnt notice the "real" highlight...

Am I the only one that ever found that part when Gus' face gets blown off incredibly unbelievable? It's really the only instance in this show where I've ever thought something was goofy, at least at first. It's kinda like Two-Face in The Dark Knight, you know for a fact that nobody could survive with half their face gone but its still totally badass. I love the Gus scene don't get me wrong but when the spoiler pic of it leaked first thing I ever thought was "This can't be real!"

It was a little over the top for the series. I knew about the scene before I started watching the series, and when I finally got to it, I don't know.... it felt a bit much.

So I know I'm far behind, but I watched the pilot for the show after ignoring it for years, and I've gotta admit, really enjoyed it. Probably not gonna catch up before the show ends, but I'm looking forward to finally seeing what all the hype has been about.

Right? That's what I've always thought. It's a bad ass moment but it is just a tad too over the top. Weird saying that while Danny Trejo's head scoots around the desert on a tortoise but still, it just seemed a bit much. I dunno what else would have worked though. It was an awesome image though that's for sure

The thing with Trejo seems like something that could actually happen, though. I could imagine criminal organizations doing crazier things than that to their victims. With Gus, it's not so much that he initially survives the blast, but that he walks out into the hall, straightens his tie AS IF NOTHING IS WRONG and then collapses.

It's just a bit Looney Toons for what else has been done in the series.

God damn... As detestable a human being Walt is after that video tape you kinda gotta give it to him here. He has a move for almost every situation thrown at him. He's like a chess master.

Oh yea exactly my point man. Would've been bad ass and more in line with the realism of the show if he like crawled out slowly and like grabbed a nurse, both his legs missing (mirroring the one brother) an grabbing a nurse ad muttering "W... Wa.... Wal........" Then killing over. That woulda been bad ass!

Same. It's like they really, really wanted to sell the idea that Gus was more than just a man. It'll be like if the series ends with Walt getting eviscerated by one of Todd's family members, but he still manages to kill all of them with his intestines hanging down to his ankles before he finally topples over dead.

that was the point. gus fring was the first opponent that almost defeated walter and was in many ways far ahead of him. walter needed to go all in to kill him...and the viewer thinks it's done and suddenly gus fring walks out and for a second it looks like somehow he survived...

it was a great ending to this amazing character...

For me, it meant that hes the cancer in her life and she cant get rid of him.

God, I still remember Face Off. I felt so nervous as Gus walked in, I knew it was coming, but man, not knowing how the final confrontation would go, my stomach was in knots. I was on the edge of my seat the entire scene and cheered as the door blew off. I'll never forget literally getting out of my seat and yelling in disbelief, like the air had been sucked out of my lungs, when he walked out of that ****ing room.

Is there any significance to the fact that:

Walter kept the eyeball of the teddy bear from the plane crash?
