Breaking Bad

He was never really a monster despite being called that in the show. He did monstrous things but there was a part of him that did care for his loved ones. If there wasn't he would have rejected his family once they had rejected him instead of clinging (foolishly) to them as he did. Walt was a complex guy, as was every character on the show.

Yeah I totally agree with this and that's what indeed makes him complex - I love that. I think in this case, he is a sympathetic monster like King Kong.

Hey guys!? It's Breaking Bad Sunda-

Oh.

oh.

I think there's one BB episode I missed around season 2 or 3. I have to find that episode. I need my fix.

You.... missed an episode?

My DVD was scratched. :( I think it's the one where Jesse breaks the RV out of Badger's cousin's junkyard or whatever.

He was a monster. Many of history's greatest monsters sincerely loved their families and convinced themselves that what they were doing was best for them. Countless dead lie in graves having been put there by people who tucked their kids in at night.

Walt produced a drug that is highly illegal and destroys people's lives. His actions resulted in a woman choking to death, and he chose to do nothing. He killed 9 men in prison. He killed Gale. His actions resulted in the death of his brother-in-law. His actions resulted in the deaths of over 200 people in a plane crash. And don't try to argue your way out of that one, since the arc words of the whole show are "Actions have consequences you can't foresee."

Walt is a monster. He is also complex. The two are not mutually exclusive.

That's in season one :oldrazz:

It definitely wasn't a season 1 episode, because I watched that in pretty much one day. :oldrazz:

It was an eppy in either Season 2 or 3 and I remember being pretty pissed when it started skipping. These were the days before I discovered iTunes, Netflix, etc.

You're right, it was Season 2. I knew it was an earlier season, but it was "Down", season 2.

*starts downloading 'Down'*

Though the 'Breaking Bad' thread may mock JJJ's Ulcer, the timid thirty-something who missed an episode.... it will soon be jealous of the only poster who gets to watch a new episode this Sunday night. :spidey:
