Fantasy Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel the Vampire - Part 3

I remember reading rumors that there was a plan for Willow to guest star and split Fred and Illyria into two separate entities.
That would've been interesting to see. As much as I liked Illyria,I really felt bad for Fred. I hated seeing her go like that.

I just finished the Fool For Love episode of Buffy and it may be one of my favorites of the show. Seeing past slayers was very cool and the opening where Buffy got stabbed kinda shocked me. Almost as much as it did her lol. I liked how she wanted to research and learn form past slayers and I remember how much she used to hate the research part. Also was pretty touching when Giles said most watchers stopped taking notes after the slayers death because of how painful it is. He cares about her so much, not just as the slayer but as a person.

angel’s accent still makes me cringe a little lol. I think it’s kinda funny that in present time it’s completely gone, but Spike and Dru sound the same lol. Must be because he’s older :eyeroll: well darla doesn’t sound like a 1600s woman either so whatevs

Anyways I just liked the episode pretty much all the way through, even dawn covering for Buffy and them getting along for a second. the ending was really well too. Spike had the shot, she was more vulnerable than ever and he just couldn’t do it. Must have more William in there than he thought lol.

Fool For Love is amazing. Also, be sure to watch the "Darla" episode of Angel right after. The two were aired together as a "2-hour event."

Spike's accent did change, btw. In his earlier flashbacks, he had a much more posh accent than his current one. Dru's always been the same though, and Angel's will always be awful, lol.

Okay yeah he was a bit more posh, I didn’t really think of that.
There were some great parallels between time period in this, from the fight choreography to bringing it back to story telling in the future, and from Cessily’s “you’re beneath me” in the 1800s to buffys in the future. 200 years of pain caught up to him real quick.

And I have been alternating between Buffy and Angel based on the website posted here but the last few eps of Buffy have been pretty solid and I think I would’ve equally have enjoyed them binging them in a row but I do kinda like watching the two shows concurrently, especially when they tie in. I wish they could’ve done that more. Stupid execs lol

edit: I saw the darla episode before this one. it was listed as a companion to this but as the one to watch first. Shroud of Rahmon is the name of the next to watch

I dont know why FOX/Disney/FX havent ordered a Slayer show following Slayers throughout time. So upsetting.

Imagine being Irish and having to cope with that Liam accent. ;) Doyle made a better fist of it but from what I remember the actor was Irish American so to be expected.

Im just not sure if I would like this, specially in these we reboot old series and cancel it after 1, max. 2 seasons again...

wasnt it said the life of the slayer was very short and buffy's was the longest to survive so far? or something like that?

would they do an anthology of different slayers, moving on after one died or maybe a couple of seasons of each slayer. the series finales would be depressing haha

I think an anthology series following different slayers each season is the perfect follow up to Buffy. Some seasons we see them die, some seasons we just see them defeat the big bad. Anthony or Sarah could narrate.

Or do it like Doctor Who. We know the doctor dies every 3 years practically

like reading from the Watcher's books? that could be cool

Anthology is tough as it requires a commitment to quality storytelling and also an A list cast. But I do like that idea of "a moment in time" as opposed to how they died.

I mean with this alleged reboot I think we're all in quiet acceptance that it's going to be "CW'ed". It's easier to do a show like that than anthology and I honestly wish Buffy was appreciated as an anthology calibre show, but I don't think it is by its gatekeepers.

Every show has a commitment to quality storytelling and will vary each season. If American Horror Story can go 10 seasons with their storytelling, A Buffy show shouldnt have a problem doing the same.

But is AHS the bench we should be looking at.

I'd be more looking at something along the lines of Fargo's quality.

Fargo is great, would love the same quality but im saying that AHS changes with every season and has survived so a Slayer show could as well.

Even Bianca Lawson could come back and play Kendra...she looks younger nowadays then she did on the show.

bianca lawson doesn't age. obviously, she was turned into a vamp when kendra died.

i wasn't aware a reboot was in the works

Im pretty sure it is dead. We havent heard a peep about it since they first spoke of it over a year ago.

It's probably dead in its current iteration but can't see Disney sleeping on it for long. Did Fox own the rights?

They did. But Disney likes to sit on certain properties so I wont be surprised if Buffy is one of them.

Well hopefully they realise the importance of producing content outside of the MCU and Star Wars.

I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and just assume sitting on IPs means they're taking their sweet time in producing something worthy.

An anthology series about slayers from the past would be so cool. Did anyone ever read these books?

Tons of inspiration to draw from for a live action series. Would love to see Nikki Wood’s story.

I think part of the problem is, they would need to decide on what exactly "not sitting" would constitute. A distant continuation sequel? A canonical spinoff? A reboot? If a reboot, how much would it change? How much would the fans *want* to see changed? What if the things the hardcore fans want would largely alienate the broader potential audience ( ie, lots of content imported from the various comics )?

It might just be more trouble than its worth.

They revive/reboot all the time with no care for what fans want. A slayer anthology show would be a hit i think. Monsters, action, horror, mythology

Yeah, I think Spike just used an accent he thought would make him sound cool or tough. I think a lot of Spike's personality came from trying to distance himself from the dorky human William The Bloody (Awful Poet) had been.

Just finished the Shroud of Rahmon episode of Angel. Why was his rat pack persona infinitely better than his Irish accent haha. I thought he did better. I like how they played up the Noir vibe at the beginning and tied it up at the end.

good twist with Kate there. I remember thinking how tan she looked when she was caught them stealing the tomb, but man did she look like death warmed over when she popped in to release Wesley. Gunn and Angel played really well off each other in this one.

I also just finished the Buffy episode of Shadow. Did not like that snake monster ugh. Glory is great though and I loved how she just came in and bought what she needed. Also Anya asking Giles if he was stupid was great. Riley is feeling like an outsider and I’m sure Dawn’s words at the carousel did not help at all lol.
