BvS BvS Rottentomatoes score - how important will it be, and what do you hope for? - Part 6

I never said I was a fan of it.

And the whole theme of my review is that the acting BARELY saves the movie. I stand by my opinion that the acting is head and shoulders above every other aspect of this movie. Even the visuals, which are wonky at times. The bad stuff just became much more obvious this time around and the decent/not so bad points faded to the back.

I think my review stands as is but I will drop the rating down.

i see. yesterday everyone was defending all your snark with a 'but he liked the movie' refrain. at any rate, guess you better give yourself a cool off time before writing your next big review. hate to go to press with a 'b' grade when you decide it's an 'f' the next day

Warners HAS TO think about more than grosses for this particular movie. This movie cannot be viewed in a vacuum. It is the launching point for a franchise that is supposed to give Warners 2 or 3 huge tent pole movies per year for the next 10-15 years. They not only need this movie to be successful. They need it to be liked. That trumps the money here. Because if this is not liked, it will impact Justice League...and if Justice League underperforms...the plan Warners went all in on blows up in their faces.

This. So much this.

The only good things I see is people like Wonder Woman so maybe devote your focus to making Wonder Woman the best possible movie it can be.

Suicide Squad will be kick ass but WB really needs to think "is it worth giving the guy who really hasn't done a great film, who's done 2 DC films already that are mixed reception wise; the keys to your biggest upcoming film in Justice League that you will spend 300 million on?"

I hope someone at WB says "NO"

hey, it just jumped back up to 33 percent. all is not lost, 'knight.

But still worse than Shaq's career FT%. :(

you know who's a great editor and gets the concept of a streamlined narrative and understands comic books? george lucas. guys not doing anything, i don't think he should be anywhere near the director's chair, and he personally wouldn't want to write a word, but i bet he could work wonders in the editing chair for a comic book movie.

"Aquaman is the key to all this. He's a funnier character then we've ever done before."

Is your review spoiler free? I am thinking of reading it since I value your opinion

Oh God. I thought the Transformers comparisons were bad. DCEU now at, Adam Sandler level.

I'm shocked. How can people, who claim to love and be fans of DC's characters, be ok with "Adam Sandler-level"? If the internet was more widespread than it is today, I can't help but feel people would be defending Batman & Robin as something more than it is (an ironic comedy).

How is the editing compared to, say, Taken 3 (The worst editing in a film I have seen)

Based on his older posts, it seems as if two sobbing children changed his opinion of a film..

I'm fine with the critical response to this. I'm seeing it tonight at 10 and I'm sure I'm gona love it
in a sea of negativity, why is Tim Riggins getting bashed for saying he likes the film and defending it? It's like he's delusional in everyone's eyes JUST because it has a bad critical response on RT. so clearly it MUST be a bad film. You people can make up your own minds you know, and not just like/dislike it based on the tomatometer

How can anyone love a movie without having seen it first ?
It baffles my mind.

Matt wants nothing more than this movie to be good. Matt's first time at the movie theater (that he can remember, anyway), was Superman IV. As bad as it was, it was amazing to be a kid, watching a man fly on the big screen. Its the day I fell in love with superheroes. Matt wants his daughter to be able to look at his favorite superhero exactly the same. Instead, she has to grow up in a world where a Superman movie is a bleak and joyless affair.

Well, there are a lot of DC products made for (and/or appealing to) children:

Superhero Girls (I do recommend this; it seems awesome. I haven't watched many though). http://origin.dcsuperherogirls.com/en-us. They are making more animated stuff in this universe (lot of toys too - some of them actually look better than collectibles).

DC Kids/Superfriends/Batman Unlimited - For younger children, although Batman Unlimited is fun to watch for all ages.

DC TV Shows - More popular than any of the others; you probably know about this anyways.

Lego Animated Line - Lego Games, Lego Animated Movies (They are making 2 animated DVD movies every year - JL: Cosmic Clash came out earlier this year). Of course, there are the movies too - like Lego Batman, coming out soon. There are also games following this universe, like Lego Batman 1 and 2.

It's unfortunate that many of them are not widely known (perhaps WB should promote them more?).

It's unfortunate that BvS isn't appealing to children, hopefully the other movies are (although, I wouldn't recommend SS - since that's straight out villains, not superheroes).

Most of the reviewers that talk about this movie say it's a clear prequel for Justice League and while they may not have appreciated BvS, they can't wait to see what's next for these characters in JL and beyond.

This movie seems like it's a 2 and a half hour trailer for the rest of DC Films slate. Sucks that this movie isn't being better received but if the object was to peak interest into what's next, apparently it's doing the job well.

yeah, i'm serious, but i'm no fanboy. i've honestly never heard of a reviewer changing his review in a 24 hour period before.

You've never seen a movie like this.

It's so incoherent and unable to be understood that you can't make head or tail of it.

that's fine and plausible to say and write as a review for batman v superman. but then don't tell me the next day it's the greatest super hero movie ever made.

Yep it's spoiler free. Link in my sig.

I can't believe so many DC fans are selfish enough to WANT a series of movies featuring the most hopeful, heroic hero that are this nihilistic. He kills. He frowns. He saves people sometimes maybe when he's not being a dick. Nice way to garner a new generation of fans.

The movie changed my opinion of the movie. The audience reaction post screening just put the final nails in the coffin.

Transformers 2 and 3 are low ratinfs and still sailed to over a billion

This is what I see as the future for DC as is. Critics will hate it, but fans will still see it in droves. Tons of action and great fight choreography at the expense of interesting, complex, rich stories.

(haven't seen the movie so not saying that's how it is, more or less guessing based on reviews it'll be lumped in the Transformers category since we know it's going to make mega bucks!)

I also have to say that I went to the toilet after my movie and everyone was talking about how bad it was...and in the lobby...and outside.

This is not going to have good word of mouth.

Movie reviewers are people

People can change their opinions

Therefore, movie reviewers can change their opinions

Also, very few people in this industry watch the same movie twice in one week before it comes out. They don't have the time to. Watch the movie, review it, move along. I felt this one deserved the chance to redeem itself (just like MOS) so I went for a second viewing.

Well yeah. It's bad enough being content with "subpar" critical reception, but it's even worse that they're ok with what can only be described as "character assassination"

Or seeing it a second time did.

But his opinion never changed he said it was a disappointment after his first view, he was very clear about that. His second vieweing just reaffirmed it even more. But nah can't be that let's focus on his comment about the two kids and hammer him about it... DC FANBOYS UNITE

This is not going to have good word of mouth.

I saw it with a much of IMAX execs, IMAX employees and PR people (some of which brought their families). It was a morose atmosphere after it ended. Felt like a funeral procession. That's usually the vibe with stuff like 12 Years a Slave.
