Soon the critic business will be obsolete. We the fans decide what movies are good. We pay the money.

They're no better than fans(boys) in this day and age. Some insightful some not. Only they have power. People on forums like these bring them up like they are some force of nature it's so, I don't know.
The oldest lie in America...

It's gotten the best test screening receptions of any Marvel movie yet.
This is how you know there's a double standard on these boards. When someone brings up the positive buzz for BvS pre-release, it's not reliable. But for CW? That's a sure sign it's gonna do well.

Is he a professional critic or is this just a fan review?

Has anyone posted this yet? It's kind of spot on. Hitler's reaction to Batman v Superman reviews.
Your video link didn't work. In the future, to post Youtube videos, just hit the YouTube button above the message box and only copy/paste the end of the video URL, the part AFTER the "v=".

However, DO NOT post that video. It contains uncensored cursing, and links to that are not allowed on the Hype.

I think one thing I was really disappointed in was how aesthetically unappealing this film was. Man of Steel was beautiful while everything in this looks like a video game cut scene, and a dark one at that.

I agree. I'm one of the few that liked the movie, but man was it dark. Literally , dark. Superman's suit seemed like it was blackish/gray through 90% of the film....

I agree. I've never cared for the Snyder/Fong aesthetic, personally. I too preferred the look of MoS.

Why are people still all in their feelings about the critically reception of the film?

Better yet why are people still acting as if it's just critics who don't like the film? Plenty of people who aren't critics have taken to twitter, facebook, and youtube to post their thoughts on the film and many of those people have the same complaints that critics have had.

And it's really disconcerting how when people say they dislike the film folks who did like it immediately come at their neck. A lot of the youtube reviews I've seen pretty much start with people begging fans not to attack them for stating their opinion.

You weren't "One of the few" a lot of people liked that movie. It's just that an equal number of folks really disliked it.

An equal number? I would say most people disliked the movie. :woot:

There was a great review summary by a critic on Rotten Tomatoes concerning Star Wars Episode VII. He said Disney and JJ Abrams knew exactly what people wanted to see - more of the same. And they got that as episode VII was essentially a remake of Episode IV.

And that helped power the film to a 90%+ score.

Even if BvS had better editing, dropped a useless subplot and made a few more changes it would still do no better then the 56% Man of Steel got. Snyder simply does not care enough about pleasing people to make a critically successful film. His films are far too different from whats expected in the genre to achieve universal appeal.

I wouldn't even say his films are that much different from what's expected in the genre.

Snyder isn't the first person to make a "dark and serious" Superhero film. Bryan Singer's X-men films have been critical darlings and the tone of those films are "dark and serious" (though they have moments of levity).

We've seen a WIDE array of films within the genre be well received by critics and audiences. Hell, while i'm not personally a fan of it, Watchmen got great reviews from critics as did 300.

Snyder has pulled in 60% with 300, a 65% with Watchmen, and a 56% with Man of Steel. He was once capable of much better.

I don't think there was much prospect of him making a critical darling, but he's clearly underperformed with BvS.

i think many people just didn't like the washed out colors but i loved the cinematography because it had that terrence mallick feel

I liked the movie. There were just a couple of minor things I didn't like so much. Like someone else said, it's like some people just didn't pay attention or refuse to think a little. They claim some things were not explained or happened differently than they did. I really don't care what these so called movie critics say, the movie was great. I just hope these bad reviews don't have a negative effect on the cast and others that are making the upcoming movies.

I agree. Snyder/Fong movies look too plastic and very often almost like a videogame. Also I'm not a big fan of desaturated colours.

Zack Snyder takes a man who survived Superman's rampage in MoS (he lost his legs, though)... an equivalent of a 9/11 survivor and turns him into a suicide bomber. Just in case you want to know why I find this movie so disgusting and offensive.

Come on man really? Surly have to know that it was Lex that did that bombing, he used that guy. That man didnt know, come on. That man was there to voice his rage over superman. He also from the looks of it lost his wife and child.

I dont agree with this at all. Yes BvS had problems but if it were a better film it wouldve done better. Star Wars had similarities with a New Hope but it was SW and that helped and not because Disney copied to much from a New Hope. People didnt want a rehashed Superman. Didnt WB try thay with Supes Returns? They rehashed the Donner films and look what happend. Inception wasnt a rehash of anything and did great.

Sorry... That's a reach that goes over into silliness territory. And I am a New Yorker that lived through 9/11.
