BvS BvS Rottentomatoes score - how important will it be, and what do you hope for?

I'm still surprised at how good GOTG ended up being, because I didn't think Gunn's previous films were very good. They almost felt more like guilty pleasures to me than good films; Super had a chance at being great but it felt to me like he didn't know how to conclude it. And Slither was kinda fun but not something I've ever felt the need to see a second time. But GOTG knocked it out of the park in pretty much every way possible.

James Gunn and GOTG proves that folks should always give Directors a chance to shine on their film.

How to get over and not care about RT score

1. Look up your favorite childhood/teen-hood/adult-hood movie(mine was Blade/II)
2. See the rotten rating.
3. Shake your head
4. Be free of the shackles

You're welcome \o/

I still don't buy the "critics hate Snyder BS."

Agreed. The same could be said about the Russo brothers, who never did anything of note until Cap: TWS. I remember how skeptical people were of them when the film was announced, haha.

Opening this week:

2 fresh films and 2 rotten films.

Which one will BvS be.

Haven't seen the movie but I have a bad feeling about this. It won't effect my enjoyment, but I'm sensing another Man of Steel situation. Maybe a little bit higher but not sure. I know that other guy was just trying to bring everyone down/being a troll but I feel like his RT score wasn't far off the mark. I'm calling 58-64%. Is it possible for this film to get lower than MOS?? Can anyone who has seen it answer that?

The reason I'm feeling this way is because of how divisive it's said to be with the decisions it makes, plus some rough/confusing editing, not stellar performances(but good), questionable motivations, leaps in logic, and a messy 3rd act that. And I don't feel critics give Snyder any credit for his action. In fact some might detract for it. Examples of this are people describing the 3rd act as a video game cut scene. Plus I'm taking into consideration what Faraci said about how critics and fans aren't going to agree on this movie.

Idk I haven't even seen the movie but I feel like critics are going to shred this movie. Maybe someone who has seen it can point out how I'm wrong. I'd love to be wrong and see this get a 75+% rating. I just don't see it, though.

Controversy like Zod's death in Man of Steel was in no way the reason as to why Man of Steel was mixed.

Stop saying that it's be mixed aswell because of any form of controversy, critics won't give it a rotten review because of that.

I honestly don't know what score it'll get. I'm just hoping the critics are fair and don't bring up older and other comic book movies for comparison.

If it gets around 75% then it's a big win.

I still don't buy the "critics hate Snyder BS."

Believe or not, but quite a few critics think that way. Some honestly just hate his style and nothing will change. It's quite unfortunate that some don't go in with an open mind, but it does happen.

Like quite a lot of people consider Man of Steel a good movie.... and plenty of people consider 300 a great movie, but the critics didn't see it that way.

We have an admittedly small sample that is in no way scientific, but based on the reactions we're consistently seeing on social media thus far it does seem that much of the GA is leaving the theater giddy and euphoric. How that will influence critics is hard to say. But if they know that a lot of movie-goers are swooning over the film, then perhaps they will be a little less inclined to tear it apart it if they are negatively predisposed going in.

I acknowledge that I could obviously be dead wrong about this, but it's looking like BvS is a picture that is exhilarating audiences for the most part. And for that reason I remain hopeful that 60% is rock bottom and 75% is more likely a low prediction.

The sorts of faults that plagued films like FF, GL, TAS2 are not at all being mentioned. Except for a few predictable outliers no one is saying this is a bad film, or anything even remotely like that. Indeed, most are saying it is at least a very good film in terms of craft. Overall responses are heavily clustered in the good, very good, great, epic/magnificent/masterpiece range.

I understand the cautious optimism. I do. And it is warranted based on the critics' reactions to MoS and Watchmen. But nevertheless I will be very surprised if BvS isn't a huge hit with the GA.

And yeah, I forgot about Watchmen as well.... a lot people thought that was great, but the critics didn't.

Will you guys stop obsessing over RT if this movie grosses over 1 billion worldwide?

The critics don't hate him. If that was case all of his films would be under 30%.
It seems to be a constant complaint whenever his name is brought up. How critics go out of their way to bash things because it has Snyder's name on it. If it was any other director the movie would get a lot less "rotten" reviews. :whatever:

One of them admitted it on twitter. The others just have been a little smarter not to make it public.
I haven't liked any of his movies that he's made. Does that make me a Snyder hater? No, because if BvS is awesome I'm going to love it. It just makes me someone who doesn't like movies that I think are crap. If someone admitted to hating his films and that he'll bash all of his films no matter what, then they don't deserve to be a critic. I just feel bad for the people who genuinely don't like his movies and get called a "hater".

Then you should ask Snyder's opinion on this. :p
I think he has a ton of potential, his visuals are unmatched. Storytelling, that's another story, lol.

His style clearly isn't for everyone. However, WB must see the same potential I do in him for giving him 4 very important movies in this DCeU. I'm hoping I'll see the movie Thursday and will finally love or even like one of his films.

SPECTRE is apparently worse than Quantum of Solace, judging by the all powerful, all relevant Rotten Tomatoes. So I must change my opinion to get in line with the Tomato Meter, it seems.

That's not how Rotten Tomatoes works

I mean they both kinda suck...

You asked specifically about the "critics hate Snyder BS" and I answered. I said there are "critics" who have admitted they won't give Snyder credit no matter what. You liking or disliking his movies has nothing to do with it.

If BvS gets less than MOS' rating or is another rotten score I will officially be on team get rid of Zack Snyder. Either that or he needs to let someone get in there and help him in the areas he's lacking. We need movies that do more than look cool.

All of those things are true, in my opinion. Some great moments, but all of those things you mentioned are problems.

What if it's a good movie but gets a bad RT score?

:whatever:
