The Winter Soldier Captain America 2: News and Speculation - Part 14

The shot of someone falling in the water makes me think we're going to get a Bucky flashback. Also, some cool new shots of CA infiltrating SHIELD and Falcon getting ready to fly.

Oh man dude, you can see the betrayal in Cap and Pierce's eyes.

There is some srs bsns going on in that TV spot.

I'm oddly okay with the whole
Fury "dies" but comes back
thing, because
it happens all the time in comics, and it's pretty clear he returns within the same movie - probably motivating Cap even harder to split from SHIELD. Also, I don't think that's nearly as huge for the GA as the whole "Winter Soldier is Bucky Barnes" reveal or who Alexander Pierce REALLY is.

As long as it drives Steve's story forward, I'm cool! Also, Chris Evans' acting in that spot = *DROOL*

I didn't see any body falling in the water. Where was that in the clip?

ETA: nevermind, it's right before "Now it's personal" line from Cap.

The whole dying and coming back to life aspect seems too soon after The Avengers. Despite it being a common occurrence in comics it's not my favorite trope. With that said I doubt that will interfere with my enjoyment of this film.

That is a really nicely done TV spot. Showing the range we hope this movie has between some seriousness and some fun.

I'm with you on that. It's getting to a level where it stands to become gratuitous and unnecessary.

It's very (at the risk of invoking The Spirit of Nolan) very The Dark Knight-ish in tone and feel.

at the 12 second mark. That look on Cap's face. Can anyone tell if that's the same office room that he talks to Redford in the trailer?

I fully acknowledge that I might just be hearing things, but does anyone else feel like the "spoiler' phrase in that spot, the...
"Fury's last words were not to trust anyone"
...is one that's been 'pieced together'?? (goodness knows trailers love to piece things together).

I can't take characters "fates" as seriously in MCU. Especially since the Coulson thing. That being said this movie does look great.

That's the pity of things. When I was younger, in between reading hundreds of books, I was doing adventuring in the great outdoors....as I got older, I wasn't able to get out as much, but I still had my books and then VHS tapes and cable arrived. Now that I am even older, I have a wife, a daughter I take care of, I have my books, my DVDs, cable, netflix, the internet......how in the hell does someone have time to be bored with anything?

As an example, a list of movies I have watched just this month -

But I don't call them boring...when I run out of steam, I fall asleep in my chair or go to bed....doing nothing to me is going out and staring at the stars or enjoying a warm day watching my daughter chase butterflies and the like....those are times of doing nothing, but they are never boring.

Don't know about the others...but I personally hate the term and have to face palm myself constantly at the number of times the younger generation uses it.

Why yes.....yes I am.....:awesome:

Kudos, my friend. You're doing it right :woot: I also get extremely frustrated and annoyed at people who claim to be "bored".

Perhaps Fury
used bringing back Coulson from the dead as a dry run for his own future resurrection. If he can bring Coulson back then he can set plans in motion for his own resurrection should he die.

Ha, hopefully. Sometimes I think that they could well and truly sort out the worlds energy problems if they found a way to harness the energy of toddlers.

Maybe some sort of massive tredmill? :D

Haha yeah, gr8 idea!

That is a really nicely done TV spot. Showing the range we hope this movie has between some seriousness and some fun.

Yes it was. Rock, what was the three biggest reasons you gave MoS 6 and Thor 8.5?

That just lowers the stakes for me. And opens the door for a deus ex machina complex.

I highly doubt
Fury will seriously hit the bucket. "Fury's last words, doesn't necessarily have to imply that he's dead, but more like it was the last time they seriously spoke before the WS entered their lives.
plus Marvel already did
the fake death with Loki trick in TDW
and Marvel Studios aren't repetitive. Although wasn't Fury in Brubaker's run
presumed dead, then a LMD and then you know...?

One thing's for sure, this movie looks like of what I always imagined the WS story would look like on the big screen. The footage I've seen thus far, really reminds me of the vibe that Brubaker creates in his stories. I can only encourage everyone to read his Velvet run. Simply amazing.:007

Lol with Thor TDW we had the "hand-gate" controversy. Now with TWS we have [blackout]Fury-gate[/blackout]

I think (which is probably why it´s not true) that the MCU isn´t going to kill so many charachters off. Sure ordinary people and charachters of less importance can die like the chitauri or innocent victims during the NY ivasion but I don´t think we´ll really see anyone die.

The MCU faked Coulson´s death. They have made us believe Odin is done but I´ll tell those who thinks that to read Thor and Loki: Blood Brothers. Now Fury is probably going with a LMD.

In the comics few heroes or villains die without comming back shortly after so I think the MCU is going with that trend. Sure someone will probably die for sure but I don´t think it´s in TWS. A death in AoU and one in phase 3 seems reasonable. The only big and "true" deaths in Marvel comics that I know of are Captain Marvel´s as well as uncle Ben´s, which you really can´t bring back.

The shot of someone falling in the water makes me think we're going to get a Bucky flashback.
I thought that too for a second but there is a shot of someone falling backwards out of the Shield building immediately before it, so it's likely the same person falling into the Potomac River.
I gif'd it really quick:

I wonder who it could be, tho? I don't think it's Bucky because I think you'd be able to see his hair flying about as he's falling and landing in the water. It might be Steve, assuming he's lost his shield at some point in the big helicarrier fight...
But I think Sam is the most likely possibility, remembering this scene from the main trailer:

That said I do hope we get a flashback shot of Bucky falling and presumably landing in that icy river at the bottom of the ravine. If not that I at least wanna see when HYDRA or whoever finds him.

Isn't there suppose to be a major death in AOU too?
