Captain America: Brave New World - News & Speculation Thread

Despite its flaws I also really enjoyed FATWS and if they are keeping that same tone with this than I'll be more than happy. This movie still has a lot to overcome but if this teaser is any indication of it's potential than I'm definitely rooting for it.

I'm also glad they didn't show Red Hulk and hopefully they keep him completely out of all the future marketing going forward.

Save that BIG reveal for the movie.

But they did...

Like everyone else said, great trailer, but with all of the reports of the recent re-shoots and restructuring of the film, I’m a little bit worried. Though, I still remain a little hopeful.

Really dig the tone, and it looks like they maintained the look of the cinematography from FATWS for visual continuity, which is nice. That was one of my favorite aspects of the show. It had deep blacks and saturated colors, and not the dull gray and washed out look of the Russo Bros era. And, it does seem that they’re going for a lot more on-location shooting and practical stunts where they can instead of solely just green screen, at least going by the trailer, which I appreciate. The action also looks like it’s gonna be pretty good, too. The quality of the writing remains to be seen in regards to what was rewritten with the new script writer, but at the very least, I’m very intrigued and kind of digging what they’re going for. Doesn’t look like it will be S- or A-tier Marvel, but also doesn’t look like the dumpster fire suggested by all of the reworking of the film from the behind-the-scenes reports. Seems like, at the very least, it could be a decent, solid and entertaining action/political thriller.

We’ll see how it all shakes out this upcoming February. Cautiously optimistic, emphasis on “cautiously”, but not writing it off.

They changed Sabra's origins to something less controversial:

New to the cast is Shira Haas, who joins as Ruth Bat-Seraph. A former Black Widow, Ruth is now a high-ranking U.S. government official who has the trust of President Ross. Giancarlo Esposito, Liv Tyler, and Xosha Roquemore also star.

I tell you one thing though.

If Feige hired Giancarlo just to fire guns and be lightskinned Nick Fury instead of giving him a weightier role like Professor Xavier, then that certainly would be a choice.

But we’ll see.
He might just straight up be Sam Jackson's replacement. G.W. Bridge is like the only potential candidate from the comics left who can take over from Nick Fury. Dum-Dum Dugan was out as soon as he was a contemporary of Steve Rogers, they killed Maria Hill, they were never going to have Steve or Tony lead SHIELD and they're both pretty much gone too, Sharon Carter and the Contessa Valentina are antagonists now, and they're not bringing over Daisy Johnson or Rick Stoner from AoS. So who else can lead SHIELD after Sam Jackson retires?

I have no idea who Giancarlo is supposed to be, but what a waste if he's just "generic soldier guy"... People were already speculating about which major character he might be, and then it turns out he's maybe some random obscure guy who showed up in a comic once.

I thought the trailer was boring and it looked like a trailer for a new Disney+ series.

Red Hulk saved it though.

Well the latest rumor is GW Bridge, which if true, actually would be a pretty interesting choice. If wish the MCU used more SHIELD agents from the comics.

I particularly love the inverted on/off title cards in between the trailer. That was a cool touch. Sounds sinister too.

I thought this trailer was a pretty good teaser I’m hoping with this and Deadpool and Wolverine the MCU get back on course.
Well I hope those reshoots saved the movie because good Lord, if this sucks, it won't do Thunderbolts* and the Fantastic 4 any favors at the box office months later...

I like the Red Hulk holding the shield teaser poster. I feel like we are going to see lots of Red Hulk in the marketing which should really grab people's interest even if its not Bruce Banner.

I wish they included Betty and the Leader in the teaser as I'm interested to see the return of those two.

It looks promising, but the Mouse House knows how to cut a good trailer, so I don't want to get too excited just yet.

I mean, I thought SHIELD is no more in the MCU? We have SWORD now and that gives a few more possibilities in case Fury retires/dies: Monica Rambeau, Carol Danvers, G'iah (unlikely due to bad reception)...

As others have said, I'm loving the TWS tone to this I'm getting. I hope Ford gets a good showing and Giancarlo is already raising the quality just by being there. First trailer is decent, and could have easily been worse given all the issues to date.

That was well put together trailer. I enjoyed it better than the Deadpool and Wolverine teaser. Looking forward to it! Can't wait to see the trailer in IMAX in a couple weeks!
