I know what you mean Jak. I blame Nolan for that. Fans think that Nolans approach to Batman is like a stock standard 'realism' approach that should be applied to everything, whereas it just worked well for batman because it suited the tone of the comics. That clearly doesn't apply to everything, like Superman for instance, where an Alien dude is flying around.

*SCREECH* Full stop. The military-.

Wow, there. See how easy it is to argue with you when I completely ignore your entire post? Great strategy there dude.

Where have you seen that? Like suspenders, wouldn't there need to be two ends of the straps on the back aswell? And wouldn't that essentially make 4 red stripes on the uniform?
no, it's like y suspenders. going off this and the stuntman on the bike pics that also have the big blue back

There was some design work for the figure, it looked like the back was almost gonna be exclusively gray and blue. I'll try and find it for you if I can.

I remember a prototype (uncolored) figure being posted of Movie Cap that had only one strap on the back, which I assume goes from grey to red like in the front. Might be where these guys recall it from as well.

EDIT: Well, hot damn. Fast responses. Now that I look at it, it looks like it'll be all grey in the back.

I was on your side with that comment.

Sorry, man...it's hard to tell. Seems like people here know what I mean but use disingenuous arguments to justify their viewpoint. These guys know what I mean by red in the outfit and wanting him to have his proper stripes.

Hey guys, if you attached a red cup towel to Superman's back and people complained I'm sure you'd say "Does he NOT have a cape??? Is it NOT red???"

Wow. Just...wow.

Ah, cool pic. Couldn't that back strap be red too though?

Maybe, but it looks like its one strap connected all the way down as opposed to it being separated like the front.

I'm saying whiskey is exaggerating. They may be present but they aren't 'all over'.

And you weren't exaggerating when you called it a cowardly attempt at making it less like the American flag? LOL GTFO! We're done here.

, but i doubt it since all the other sraps over blue areas are gray

But that single strap going down to the hip goes over the white midsection.

Forgive me. Much like you tried to say that one thing I said invalidated the rest of my points in an earlier post I was trying to say the same, albeit more succinctly.

The hard truth is, if there ever was a top-secret super soldier that was unique and could never be successfully duplicated the army would be even stricter with him as far as his dress, his following of orders and the example they would insist be set for the other soldiers. He would in no way be allowed to EVER run off and do his own thing.

I don't think I was exaggerating. They are obscuring the star with that black strap and have drastically reduced the amount of red stripes (and red in general) on the costume. The one part of his outfit that was lifted directly from the US flag is gone in the movie version. That looks like distancing themselves from the flag imagery to me.

*sigh*
Well everything looks quality so far.
Hope everyone can play their roles well...which, to my mind, is the MOST important thing. And Mayhaps add something to make it their own.

At least we have "stripes" at all. Even if they are straps (strapes?!) and now actually serve a purpose. I think it's an ingenious creative decision honestly.

I'm not against them serving a purpose...that's actually cool. Would it have been that hard to let the guy have all of the stripes he's supposed to have and make two of them functional, though?

Well in this movie, he does. So you're points don't really matter. Within the context of this film, however it's justified, thats what happens. If that shatters the illusion of the movie for you, that sucks and i'm sorry for you.

no it doesn't? the blue runs all the way to his belt. i can color it for you if you'd like

No, it's white in the back, too. Imagine him wearing like a half-jacket. If the blue doesn't run all the way to his belt in the front why would it do so in the back?

Please try to understand me. I don't WANT the movie to be 'real'. I DO want him running off doing his own thing even though that is unrealistic. That is my entire point! I WANT him to wear his 616 costume in the movie...even though it's unrealistic.

I see what you mean. I wondered the same thing when those designs were first leaked. But honestly, I'm glad the overall image is still mostly there. When you see this movie version, you still know it's Cap. Not a big fan of the helmet, but there's room for redesigns in the Avengers come 2012.

It kinda reminds me of some of the Punisher designs in the comic, where the teeth of the skull were white bullets :awesome:
