i was hoping for more straw in spandex

Roach, the more you mention spandex, you're just inviting more debate or silly arguments. Just leave it alone.

Btw Rock, you never answered that costume question. I'm curious to know what kinda material you could see a 616 costume being made of for the Avengers film.

sorry i was trying to be funny

Lol yeah, I know, but even when you make a joke, some dude who hasn't been on for 5 pages sees spandex and says "Spandex is ridiculous, this is about REALISM!" and it starts all over again

Because Stein, people want him wearing that chain mail and those 3D wings!!:awesome:

Ugh...you know, those were my two biggest complaints with the suit in the comics. Those ridiculous looking wings sitting out of his mask and the chain-mail/feather-like armor. So lame.

I've always been a fan of this style of Cap, even in the comics...the soldier style cap.

Sorry, been preoccupied with my day trading .....

BTW, I saw this picture and thought it would've flowed much better than the costume we got ..... obviously I still don't like the helmet but at least he's got the mask underneat ......

As for the Avengers, I'm not a "materials" pro .... I just know the costume needs to be far more form fitting to lend more to his agility. The one material I do know about S-P-A-N-D-E-X is obviously out of the question .....

i wouldnt have been opposed to that costume

The mid-section is really bothering me...it's just too bright.

I've got to admit that is a good design that looks like it could have worked. Although who knows if something similar was tried in the movie's own creative process or not though. Though I can't help but think that this design isn't exactly a million miles away from what we got. They share some elements.

Not that far from the film's costume.

Now the pose ....this is what the poster should have adopted! Same background with this pose........:woot:

Not that much different?

- It's form fitting
- No quirky shoulder pads
- Red stripes that aren't part of the parachute package
- No distracting grey straps
- Wearing the blue mask underneath the helmet
- Star on chest is much bigger
- Star patches on shoulders don't have the red
- The blue is more muted

The outfit is 20 times easier on the eyes IMO.

I like what we're getting in this movie due to the context it's in, but I'd love something like that for his Avengers costume, or something even more 616.

It still has a lot in common with the movie version and a few of your points are fairly trivial. It sort of like the movie concept v2.0. Where did this come from anyway?

As for the form fitting. Yes it does seem to hug the body more, but it still looks like it could be the same material the actual suit was made of for this movie. Remember the concepts looked more form fitting which inspired the whole 'one is the modern costume, one is the WWII' argument. Even concepts for movies look different on page compared to the finished product.

Trivial in your opinion. That's fine, as you are entitled, but I flat out disagree. The suit I posted is far easier on the eyes, not so "busy" looking. All those differences I brought up are clear as day.

..... and it doesn't "seem" to hug the body more, it "actually" does. It's not bulky, squarish on the shoulders, and bunchy.

Whatever material they made this out of would work:

I wonder why fanboys weren't crying fowl at the fact that Black Widow is not wearing any armour, simply wearing a skin-tight costume and relying on her agility?

Maybe because she's an attractive woman, and it would be a shame to cover her up?

Screw 'maybe', that's exactly it.

Black Widow is a spy, not a soldier. She's not intended to be taking on armies head-on, and her outfit reflects that.

^ That. I've never seen spies in movies wearing s**t loads of body army. They're more for stealth and maneuverability than anything.

I was talking about superhero movies in general, should've specified that.

Batman's not a soldier. In fact he is very similar to a spy. No armour for him?

To be honest, I still think that's going to be the costume he gets for the Avengers or something similar to that. I think it looks bulkier just for the sake of the time period.

it's not that different in fact if I remember correctly that cover (Art by Adi Granov) is based on the movie costume.
