They could always do what Deadpool did and just have a non-linear narrative showing her as Captain Marvel in the present while cutting back and forth between flashbacks showing how she got her powers.

I agree with flickchick85 though. It's kind of pushing things to pretend she's been around this long without anyone noticing her.

The only way I could really see them doing CM without an origin is if they did what they're doing with Black Panther in Civil War.

thats what I want, bc IMO, it makes less sense that she'd be of any use in Infinity War if she just got her powers. She'd need experience, some training and time to get use to her new abilities and powers and learn how to actually use them. Whats the point of having all that power, if you are a novice and arent skilled in them?

I'm dying to see Carol ASAP, just like everyone else, but I don't want Carol's intro into the MCU to be like Wonder Woman's. Could you imagine her just showing up in Civil War because Zemo had a picture of her? No, that would be stupid.

I could see Carol Danvers debuting in Infinity War Part One, and then powering up in her solo movie.

Wonder Woman's intro is not the only option. Black Panther debuts in Civil War ahead of his own movie and everyone says his intro is logical and integral to the plot.

The same could be done for CM in Infinity War.

Keep in mind she probably doesn't even have to be cast during the bulk of the filming of that movie. Jeremy Renner was added during reshoots of Thor after they knew he was going to appear in Avengers.

Especially if she doesn't actually suit up just yet.

Bigelow would be a good choice.

The Katherine's are the only names I could come up with too

So, if Katheryn Bigalow is directing, then could this be our Captain Marvel?

Also, is there a list of every female director in the world?

For the record, even if that report's accurate, they're not saying the director OR actress has been chosen yet. They said there's an actress up for it (probably one of many), and a director being eyed for it that has the same name. Which basically just means two people on each "shortlist" share a first name. Sure, the Kathrynes could be an example of that, or maybe the two Rebecca's (Ferguson and Thomas) mentioned in the other thread could be another example. But the odds of both of those candidates getting chosen for each job are still quite iffy, imo. I'm not against Katheryn Winnick, but I still highly doubt it'll end up being her. And given that they said that the actress was a previously reported rumor, I think the Rebecca's are more likely to be the ones they're referring to, considering the Rebecca Ferguson rumor was very widely reported. There's also Rebecca Miller, who wrote/directed that Daniel Day-Lewis flick The Ballad of Jack and Rose, as well as the upcoming Maggie's Plan with Ethan Hawke, Julianne Moore and Greta Gerwig. Also, Jennifer Lawrence and Jennifer Kent (The Babadook). Not that I want JLaw for the role, because I don't, but it wouldn't surprise me if she was on the list.

Black Canary!!!!!!

Sorry, I can't stop myself.

I do like Captain Marvel, so either works for me. :woot:

Her martial arts background would come in handy more for Black Canary, that's for sure.

I can't say I'd be at all excited by Winnick getting the role

Bigelow would be great directing though

Well, apparently Sneider later said their names are spelled the same way. Rebecca Ferguson and Miller is my guess

I don't really get the hype around Ferguson

She was cool in MI:RN I guess but as an actress she never really wowed me

To be fair, there are directors with the same first names as pretty much every actress that's been mentioned out there, so it's not a great clue

el mayimbe about 4 days ago said a super hero role had been cast but someone he reported was up for the role had passed

Well, there isn't any directors and actresses named Angelina and Charlize. I couldn't think of any named Emily. Either way, it doesn't necessarily mean Ferguson will be the one who gets the role.

There are a few with Emily, nobody really well known though.

None I could find for Jessica, either.

I don't put stock in El Mayimbe's "scoops" these days, but if I did, Rebecca Ferguson would fit there, too, as the person who is having to pass on the role. Seems like there would probably be a scheduling conflict with M:I-6 and Infinity War.

Surely Winnick would be too busy with Vikings to play Carol, wouldn't she?
