it would be so cool if we getting a surprise Tommorow with the Doctor Strange Digital Release but thats very Unlikely

Spider-Man meets Captain Marvel!

Spidey: "Um, is that Miss Marvel?"

Carol: "It's Captain to you." :funny:

I wonder about her characterisation. When I was reading Avengers she seemed quite open and friendly, but I hear these days a lot of people don't like what she's become, like she's a female version of Tony Stark during the first Civil War.

The subject of gender is gonna come up in some way. I'm fairly certain the writers talked about taking time to make sure they don't mess it up precisely because being the first MCU film led by a woman IS gonna be treated like a big deal.

Plus c'mon. They're releasing it during Women's History Month.

I just hope they approach this the way they would any other superhero. I don't want to end up with a Mary Sue because they're trying to avoid accusations of sexism.

The internet uses Mary Sue as a catch-all term for "Female character I don't like" these days, so I'm sure people will be calling her that regardless.:oldrazz:

An announcement Brie Larson is playing Captain Marvel!

With or without a director. :o

Well yeah, I guess you're right. As chamber-music said, it would fit the character since the feminist movement is basically why Ms. Marvel exists in the first place. Personally speaking I'd be all for it, as long as it was done well.

Which, given Marvel's history of starting to film the solo films about 12-13 months (on average...give or take a couple weeks) before release date, fits/makes sense.

Looks like Fury might pop up in this

Someone has to tell her about the Avengers Initiative....

uh oh, the Hype won't be happy to hear there are some pressuring her to have the faux-hawk/mask combo

I hate that any discussion of hairstyle happens. It feels this is really the only character people care about it.

She's the only one that's had a controversial cut around the time she's about to be adapted on screen for the MCU. Makes sense. Hair played heavily in the discussion for Psylocke and Storm when they were announced for Apocalypse and that tends to be the case when a characters hair isn't straight forward

also, were you not around for the first round of whining about the blonde-ness of Cap's hair back when Evans was cast??
"He's got dark hair!...he was brunette as johnny storm!... fail!... hire Mark Valley!"

That's a joke, right? That has to be.

I mean, I can understand the occasional criticism here or there, but hair color?

Also to be fair Black Widow almost always gets a lot of discussion on her hair whenever she's announced to be in a film. Either you missed those or selective memory bc she gets it a lot, all the time

yeah, no, not joking
hell there are still some here who whine and say his hair is too dark

fact is, people have a very specific look for these characters in their minds, and we all want our favorite version depicted
some people just accept compromise better than others

and yea, poor Widow gets it worse than most, possibly because her hair has gone through such extremes in the MCU
First she's sexy clubber girl, than she's a mom, than she's a model, then a mom again, etc

It tends to be a conversation when the character is female. I should make it clear I'm not talking about Brie Larson, but the larger conversation about whether Captain Marvel's hair is "too boy-ish, etc." that's pervasive in fandom. So I'm not talking about the "are they going to dye the actor's hair" debate. It's entirely different.

Captain Marvel will have blonde hair. End of discussion. :o

Concept art for the movie was shown off at the Disney shareholders meeting. Hopefully it gets leaked or an official release soon.

They also mentioned Thor: Ragnarok, Avengers: Infinity War, Black Panther, Ant-Man and the Wasp and Captain Marvel. This included a piece of concept art of Captain Marvel, an action pose of her in the air, about to hit someone.
