I saw Mississippi Grind... it was just okay.

Half Nelson's the only film of theirs I've seen, but it was great. Not sure how they'll do in terms of action but they are strong storytellers and right now I'm just glad to have directors confirmed.

Marvel tends to carry over a lot of their behind the scenes talent and hire experienced crews so I think they will be fine.

Question re: these directors: are they non-WGA members? Just asking, since it seems a little weird these kinda obscure directors were picked....

I'm sure they're WGA members. Marvel would have issues if they avoided them.

It's quite common to go with up and coming directors who have made movies that the people who have seen them enjoy but aren't big blockbusters. That's nothing new.

I'm just worried about that stupid strike the WGA keeps threatening. Between this and Avengers 4 and SM:Homecoming 2 planed for 2019, I don't want Marvel to suffer their own instance like with Revenge of the Fallen where they were rushed into productions without proper scripts!

Marvel struck a separate deal satisfying WGA's demands during the last strike, which enabled them to keep writing and developing films. They could do the same again, but I'm not sure since Marvel's deal was done prior to the Disney acquisition.

As for the two upcoming Avengers films, those scripts were written ahead of time. So while the writers may be prevented from tweaking dialogue or rewriting scenes during filming, those movies have been locked in story wise. It seems like Captain Marvel also has a solid script so that the directors can start production on schedule if the WGA strike is longer than expected.

Marvel Studios has contingencies for things like this.

I really hope this movie does something more interesting than a standard origin story. While Dr. Strange had great visuals and interesting action, it was too formulaic.

Yeah. I wasn't really worried about it. I haven't seen them completely booger anything up yet (AM was prolly the closest, but that came out ok). There was just nothing to talk about and I wanted to moan about something....
