Batman is a completely different case to Jimmy Olsen.

Maybe Lois Lane and Perry White can be taller than Superman as well.

But who says Superman even has to be taller than Supergirl. He could be shorter too, right?

tho, Superman himself shouldn't be(or look) shorter then Jimmy, the actors height is kinda irrelevant (with in reason, of course) as there's all type of camera tricks and such that can be used to make someone look taller (they've been doing it for Tom Cruise for years)

as long as we don't see Superman and Jimmy standing back to back in front of a height chart lol it wont really be an issue

I'm sorry, but people complaining about our potential Superman being shorter or slighter than Mehcad Brooks are just looking for crap to whine about, because it's not actually an issue that anyone within the production offices of Supergirl should be or is going to be concerned about.

Since when have I ever "just been looking for something to complain about" with this series? The answer? NEVER.....

Some of us simply think that it is a legitimate thing to be looking for, 6 ft. is fine with me, but as far as muscular build, I would like him to be as built as Mehcad....that isn't "just me looking for something to complain about"...it is an opinion. MORE THAN ANYTHING, I want them to choose an actor that has charisma that matches Melissa's....that is the most important thing, but I would like to look at Superman and not think....dang he looks little compared to James.

This. I want him to look like the Man of Steel, not the man of matchsticks.

And it doesn't surprise me that Digificwriter would be perfectly okay with a slight Superman who is much smaller than Mechad considering he was more than okay with that FFINO abomination and all its changes. This whole idea of people just finding things to complain about is the same sort of argument FFINO supporters would make.

I know were talking about a TV budget but, I am sure they could do better then some cheap halloween costume if they needed to add some bulk to the actor's built

most superheros suits (even if the actor is already buff usually has some built in muscle padding)

That is true...but I'm going to assume that MAYBE we are going to see Clark standing next to James....and I don't want to be thinking the same thing as I stated above.... "Dang Superman looks little next to James"

Yeah. I don't want to be just thinking that Superman's strength is merely in his Kryptonian heritage. Otherwise he could just be the weediest looking man and we could just say he's still the man of steel because he's a Kryptonian. But that will never fly.

And like you, I don't have anything to really complain about this show at all. I've enjoyed all of the first season and the casting of Melissa Benoist in particular. But I do want Superman to look very superheroic and not like James Olsen's little buddy he's taken under his wing. Superman should NEVER look smaller than Jimmy of all people.

An actor with the stature like Russian actor Costa Ronin, of The Americans would be imposing enough next to Mechad Brooks.

I'm not putting Ronin's name out for the part , (he's much more James Bond than Clark Kent)but physically, that type is more in the Reeve, Reeves, Welling, and Routh tradition of casting in terms of physical traits.

This. The CW like to have these shots of all the heroes walking together. In Smallville, they would have their mini Justice League all doing their heroic walk side by side.

Now imagine if Superman is only slightly taller than Supergirl, but shorter than the likes of Green Arrow or Diggle.

Yes, camera angles can be used to an extent, but you can't ever have a shot of the heroes all walking together.

when Team Cap and Team Iron Man were all walking side by side and you saw Spider-Man next to his team mates, imagine if Asa Butterfield were playing the part. He'd look way taller than most of the others except perhaps Vision. They couldn't have that done that kind of shot with him in the role. What kind of camera angle is there going to be when everyone else is filmed on one plane and then Spider-Man is filmed separately on another? The angles wouldn't even look like they would match.

And you certainly couldn't ever show a full length shot of Superman standing next to Mechad Brooks. They would always have to film from the waist up while Superman is standing on a box.

And all that isn't even taking into consideration how he would look proportionally smaller in frame. And then imagine the actor being smaller built than Brooks.

It would just look ridiculous. I don't care if he's meant to be a Kryptonian or not. He should still look more muscular than James Olsen. Otherwise why not get an actor who is shorter than Wyn Schott if size doesn't matter? Just say it's all in his Kryptonian heritage then.

Thought about this and got really excited. With Superman coming on Supergirl and probably being casted by SDCC, we will have the CW versions of Sups, Flash, Martian Manhunter, Hawkgirl, and Batman(because that's who Amell is playing). Also, with the rumor of the Alan Scott GL coming to Legends, I say give Adrianne Palicki another chance at WW and we have the Justice League on t.v.
