Supergirl Casting CWverse Superman for Supergirl

He looks like he's in his mid forties at least. And he looks like he's getting a double chin and a bit puffy.
He was recently in Bay's 13 Hours, so he surely lost that little extra weight for that (haven't seen it yet). With a 30-yr old Jimmy and a late-20s Kara, I'm all for an older (40-ish) Superman.

Well, if you wanted a 40-ish Superman, there's always Victor Webster. :o

I would love it if Tom Welling took up the mantle again but he is over playing Clark so that would never happen.

I do think whoever they get to play him, they will probably play around with shots to make him look taller to Jimmy or not even have them appear in the same scenes.

I'm personally hoping for a new face that hasn't been associated with the role in the past.

There's a guy on Vikings who I've thought would make a good Superman from the George Reeves mold. I wonder if he's been killed off that show yet, lol.

LMAO, there is always the possibility he has been killed off....

As far as Welling coming back to reprise the role. No one has taken on the role they had once before in connection to Supergirl, so along with many other reasons, I think Welling would be a VERY LONG shot at best.

That wouldn't be necessary. As long as the actor fits the personality of Superman, then being the same height and build, even slightly less than Brooks would not make it a problem. Superman doesn't need to look like he is the biggest guy in the room.:cwink:

Nor would it make sense for them not to be on screen together considering how bad this version of Olsen has it for the House of El. He just goes where they go. Even when he tried to escape Superman's shadow and make his own way he just went to National City and Cat Co. because Clark told him to. The guy simply has nothing interesting about him.

Alas, Wiki tells me he still lives. Oh well, good for him keeping steady employment, lol.

Both, but especially someone who has played it, like Tom Welling.

While I agree they should go with someone new, I don't think it it makes sense to for us to disregard past rumours and fan casting.

Sure, it can be dull to drag out the same old names, but some of those names suit the part. you can be sure Berlanti isn't bothered about past fan casting. :cwink:

I'm doubtful Berlanti isn't bothered by ANYTHING we say....lol He is doing just fine on his own.

Yeah, but most of those names are are no longer in the perfect position to play Superman that they were when they first became the favorites. Matt Bomer's a Golden Globe/Emmy winner who's got a much bigger career now, for example. Joe Manganiello's in a different place as well. It's time to look for some fresh faces, imo.

Do you mean Clive Standen? Ragnar's brother?

A good choice, if that is who you mean. he is making the Taken TV series now but that doesn't mean he isn't available for guest roles.

Also, a thought just occurred to me. The figure of Superman in the show's opening seems to be to be a guy who looks like Reeves and Routh, not like Welling or someone like Paledecki (my own first choice). So I'm just wondering if that is a indictor of the type of guy they are looking for - someone who looks like Routh so this show fits in with the continuity of the older movies.

That makes sense.:cwink:

Though I don't think being an award winner would make Boomer be beyond the role.

And when will Supergirl being filming? When will they have to have Superman cast by?

Hey, that could end at any moment.
One can hope, haha. However, further research tells me he will probably die soon because he's been cast as the lead in a Taken TV series (who asked for that?!), so either way, he's not an option.

EDIT: Mask&Cape beat me to the Taken news. And yes! Clive Standen's the guy I was talking about.

:yay:

Dying in Vikings isn't necessary. Both shows are around 10 to 12 episodes and being in both is possible.

I think Mask&Cape was talking about the Taken show as the "other" show, because I implied his casting in that would mean he's probably getting killed off Vikings.

ooooooh, ok. Got it....

If you're talking about who I think you are..he has a new show that is the Taken prequel.

But I would TOTES be down for him to play a tv Supes.

And to bad Robbie Amell had to waste his time playing 2seconds of Firestorm in the Flarrowverse. He would be one of my first pics for Superboy who they should also introduce to Supergirl.

Yeah, I just learned about that. Boo (to his being unavailable for this AND to there being a Taken seres, lol). At least I have this:

And I agree Amell would have been perfect for Superboy. Oh well.
