Supergirl Casting CWverse Superman for Supergirl

Jim Caviezel is my pic if they if give us a Batman in the CWVerse, though his name was tossed around for Superman several years back .

I don’t think “big names” (like Caviezel or Bomer or Hamm or Manganiello) would take the job. I assume that such a guest-starring role is either a) not interesting to them or b) too low paying. Or… perhaps they would do it as a fun, one-and-done lark - but can’t/won’t commit to future guest appearances or a hypothetical spinoff.

But let’s suppose that all these obstacles are overcome. That still leaves the issue of personal image/vanity. :word: I.e., the actor in question would very much like to look cool and impressive as Superman. And that could mean (depending on the candidate) several months at the gym and/or a movie quality “muscle suit.” And neither of those seems likely on a CW schedule and budget. Therefore, an actor who comes “pre-equipped” with a physique would have an obvious advantage. (Could be Manganiello; but methinks a muscular/relative “unknown” is more likely.)

So, has Tom Welling been cast yet?

Cos they need to get on that.

in terms of name actors

at most I could probably see them getting someone like Ashton Kutcher or Jerry O'connell, (both 6'2", decent size built, an are still in good shape for there age) who would not only be willing/but might want, to do it ... I mean I don't know if their really considered "big names" these days, but just in terms of recognizable names, and not going with an "unknown"

I also kinda feel like there should be some connection to the character as well with who ever they cast, Kutcher's name popped up here or there during casting for various superman/JLA projects over the years (but never landed the role for whatever reason) and Jerry recently voiced Superman in the JLvTT (and has done other voice over work in DC movies/shows) an you know Jerry isn't afraid of wear the red speedo lol

not that I am personally recommending them, just using them as examples, that an "unknown" isn't the only way to go

just saying

Yeah, I would agree the actor doesn't have to be an "unknown" and a recognizable name doesn't have to be off the table.

O'Connell would actually be an interesting choice given that he's certainly got the goofy, dashing, nice guy thing going , is the right age, and has the stature . He also reminds me a bit of Benoist so you could believe they were related.

O'Connell is 42, which to me seems a bit too big of an age range when it comes to playing a character who us around 35/36, but others' mileage may vary.

actors don't have to be the exact age of their character

I mean, look at Brooks, idk how old his version of Jimmy/ James is suppose to be, but Brooks himself is 35, people are already saying Supes isn't going to look tall enough next to him, do we want him looking the same age too

I'd expect him to be closer to Cats age/generation then Jimmys

I thought Superman is supposed to age more slowly.

Age to me is not a big deal....Benoist herself played a 15 year old at the age of 22, actors play upwards of 10 years older and younger than their actual age, so to me anyone below the age of 45 would be fine IF they have the look of someone younger. Age is a #, what they look like is most important. O'Connell would be fine by me...and I think would be a great fit with this cast.

I kinda want to comment about the guy who they got for role being too young, I was expecting someone much older... but since the last post I made in here was about age not mattering (even-though, I made that agreement in defense of a older actor in the role not a younger one) it'd still be kinda hypocritical to hold that against him and not give him a chance, huh?
