Casting the DC Universe - Part 2

Garrett Hedlund as Oliver Queen/Green Arrow
Yvonne Strahovski as Dinah Laurel Lance/Black Canary
Djimon Hounsou as Martian Manhunter

Have we cast Lobo yet? My front runner was Joe Manganiello, but he's Deathstroke now.
My wish list was Jason Mamoa and The Rock, but they've both been locked into DC contracts.

Can't think of a single actor that screams Lobo, I guess Kevin Durand of the top of my head, or maybe there's an ex WWE wrestler that could fit the bill. Otherwise another unknown casting call.

Yeah, DC has already cast the best candidate for Lobo (Momoa) as Aquaman. I don't really care because I've always felt like Lobo was a dumb character; I've always viewed him as DC's hamfisted attempt to be as dark and edgy as Marvel. "Your heroes kill people and smoke cigars? Big deal! We've got a hero who committed GENOCIDE against his own people! You don't get more badass than that!" Still, if they are committed to doing Lobo at some point, it should have been Momoa. He looks like he was born to play that character and kind of specializes in playing hard-drinking smartasses who enjoy beating people up.

lol, if you've been playing Injustice 2 and looking at her Twitter.

I think that was the whole point of the character. It was supposed to spoof characters like Wolverine and Judge Dredd I believe. Then fans started to take him more seriously than they were supposed too.

I think you could make him work. Tone him down a bit so he's less cartoonish.

Terry Crews

Erm ***K YEA! He has the right level of cheesy acting too. He'd be perfect :)

Trejo, Crews or Mcbride all would work. Crews is the best option. Love that guy

I think these reasons are part of why the guy reference Stranger Things, which addresses at least some of these problems, #3 for sure. I think Robin also works as someone who lives with Batman and sneaks away to be Robin and is forbidden. Lately, they put Batman in a position where he can't stop Robin, and so does his best to keep it in check.

Precisely - and after seeing the trailer for IT, where the kids talk..well incredibly vulgar, it made me believe that a serious tone kids of that age could happen.

I think Michael Jai White would make a good Lobo or Darkseid.

I think Toby Stephens would be good for Oliver Queen or Hush.

Matthew Mc. or Justin Theroux for either Black Hand or Reverse Flash.

Eamonn Walker- Black Manta

Driver is actually not a bad idea. If you look at him in comparison to Miller, it does work.

Now that Chicago Justice is cancelled, Phillip Winchester for Darkseid.

For Darkseid I would go with Michael Ironside

I think this talk is beyond silly, old and repetitive. We've just gotten through seein X-23 ripped people to shreads in an R rated movie. I don't know if anybody knows this but there are kids in real life who live in dangerous situations without parents or positive role models. Batman having a set of rules set for a young man or young teen to follow to keep him safe that he breaks once in a while is perfectly fine for a FICTIONAL MOVIE. There are aliens that shoot lasers out there eyes, we don't think its possible for a young man to fight bad guys without people leaving the theatres complaining it's not "realistic" because of child endangerment laws?

I think Robin would work fine in a movie and we already know currently Jason is dead. For a movie, I think it'd been fun to see Bruce go through the trauma of losing a child due to his own recklessness. Just because it isn't a cartoon doesn't mean it has to be bound by certain rules to keep us from enjoying anything slightly unrealistic.

Yeah, I think it's a little ridiculous at this point to try and say Robin or any of the other sidekicks won't work. It's high time we get a proper adaptation of Robin and co. on the big screen. I wouldn't be opposed to Ryan Potter getting the part, as he campaigned for it in the past.
